Hi all, Here's a bug that I've noticed for a bit, but only just getting around to report... If you go to this category: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Internet/Servers/Shopping/Auctions/Assistance/Searching/ ...you'll see it seems rather short, right? Well, I'm pretty sure there are other listings in there somewhere, but just not appearing on the page for some reason. Hello, the 'update listing' link states: Specifically, this Update Listing form should be used to - Suggest a category more appropriate for this site However, when I put in my Site URL and click 'Update listing', it only displays the current category with no option to suggest a new one.

Hi, I have noticed that on most search engines my website is also being shown as a website using "/" as the prefix and not the .com - .net or so on as it should be. I have also noticed that many links that are listed for instince under google using the "/" as my prefix are websites that have some tipe of DMOZ information on them. (Not All Directly Though) Any Ideas on why this would happen and even why there are listings being shown as, http://www.palmtreeamerica/ Just Asking

"Bad Category" error message on submit

Category: Business: Major Companies: Publicly Traded: I Site URL: http://www.indusworld.com Title: Indus International, Inc. Our company's URL has changed to www.indus.com and I need to update our listing in "Business: Major Companies: Publicly Traded: I" so I go to that category, click on the "Update URL" link, enter my request but when I click submit I get a "Bad Category" error message. I have read all the instructions on the "Update URL" page and filled in all the required fields on the form so I am not sure why this is happening. Any suggestions you have for a remedy are much appreciated.

I have tried to submit my Newcastle United site several times in the section http://www.dmoz.org/Sports/Soccer/UEFA/England/Clubs/N/Newcastle_United/ , however it says that I need to re-enter the Captcha information even when I am 100% certain that the information I have entered has been correct. I have repeated this over and over, yet it is always the same result. Is this a common problem? An ODP site bug? Paul.

Hello, I was wondering if you's think Dmoz will benefit from a "New" button in categories when new sites are added something like over at Yahoo! I say this because well.. mostly SEO's and Webmasters use the directory to add their sites.. and i really do want to keep track of when sites are getting added.. If there was a "New" button in the cat and topic i submit too means i won't have to browse through all the localties i submit too.. and i can just go check where the New sites have been added.. Whats your opinions on this? You think this would be a good new feature? <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hi, I've been trying to submit my Australian massage related website to the category Regional: Oceania: Australia: Health: Alternative: Massage Therapy and Bodywork which is the most relevant section for my listing and after clicking the submit button I simply get a page with a Go Back link and the page title just says Oops, an Error Occurred. I've been trying to submit my site for around 8 months now and I've come across this same error every time (but only found this forum just now). Hi everyone. I'm trying to suggest an URL (category: Society: Subcultures: Geeks and Nerds: News and Media) and when I click "Suggest URL" I'm always receiving this error: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /cgi-bin/add.cgi. Reason: Error reading from remote server I tried Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 SP2 for Windows and Safari 3.04 for Mac, and I keep getting the same error. Any idea? Thanks.

Hello, I had posted a message on General ODP issues > Site Update about problems updating URL, and was told to report any developments to this forum. Hope this helps if anyone has been facing a similar problem: eventhough I couldn't update a site listing yesterday evening, I have just updated it successfully a few minutes ago. Previously, I was getting a dialog box asking for username and password (as though I was an editor). Mind you, the first time I tried it tonight I still got the same problem, but the request for update went through on the second attempt. Cheers, Lydia ---------------------

Hi, I have recommendations for two new features. I don't know how large the effort is, but maybe it is not too much. First, I think the forum is a bit impersonal because there is no field to add his name to the profile. At least I found none. Second, in the profile is a point "ODP Editorname". I was just poking around noticing the dmoz site has changes showing up again on it. Hurrah. But alas I found a missing page on one of the categories I been watching. The missing url is http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/N/Newport_Beach/Business_and_Economy/Financial_Services/Mortgages/desc.html It is the description page for that category, I just assuming it was not generated with the rest of the site. Anyhow just wanted to let somone know about the issue to take care of it. Owen Brady

Wrote webmaster@dmoz.org an info about this problem but the mailbox seems to be full. Here is the mail: However I had problems applying before. At least when I applied for becoming an editor in March I didn't get any answer. Now after a couple of tries today and after reconnecting it seems to work. Anyway I though someone maybe would want to know about that problem. It seems the e-mail that I have send to webmaster@dmoz.org has been redicted to an aol address witch probably is private so I won't post it here and give it out on request. Hi there, I'm trying to update my listing in: Regional: North America: Canada: Ontario: Localities: B: Burlington: Business and Economy: Computers and Internet: Internet But when I enter the URL and click Update Listing, I get a 500 Internal Server Error: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@dmoz.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Is it just me? Thanks

I would like help in submitting my site. I have tried to submit for the last 3 weeks and keep getting a "500 Internal Server Error" message. I have emailed webmaster@dmoz.org">webmaster@dmoz.org</a> many times without reply. I have waited for three weeks and I still am getting the same message. Dear Sir or Madam, The Editor Feedback form on the .dmoz website does not appear to work and results in the following error message:- "Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/send2.cgi. Hi, I'm currently adding a bunch of sites to dmoz and i'm experiencing some troubles related to form usability. I post my impressions here, hoping they can help to improve the form. I know the captcha can keep out spammers, but if a regular user mistypes the code, he gets an error and the suggestion go back in your browser if you need to resubmit the form. First, the message is wrong. You can't just go back, you have to reload the captcha and the page. If you just go back you'll see the same captcha, but even if you type the correct code it won't work. On the other hand, if you reload the page (but you have to work out this by yourself) you lose all the fie…
