I have tried the Becoming an Editor Forum but it seems no one wants to answer me, and I have emailed DMOZ, and so I will try here. The thread at the other form is here: http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25944 Basically I can't send the editor reinstatement form because I can't remember the old email address and/or password I had 2 years ago when I was an editor of the Voluntary Simplicity category. I wasn't kicked out as an editor or anything...I just quit because I didn't have time. The form does not allow me to leave the email address field blank or put in another address so I am not sure what to do. Please help me with this. Thanks.

After browsing through some of the discussions here, some of which were amusingly fraught on both editors' and submitters' sides, I notice that the major reason for the delays in submission acceptance or rejection--and therefore in submitter frustration--is simply that of backlogs. Wouldn't it help calm things a bit if each category listed its backlog, number of editors involved, and a running fraction of submissions rejected for nonuniqueness? (Subcategories without their own editors should simply copy the numbers of the first category above them.) I searched this forum and saw somewhat surprisingly no discussion of such easy feature, which surely might help a lit…

I looked and looked for an explanation what the star means: does it mean the site rates `one star out of five' or that it is a top-rated site or what? Where is the answer to my question and why is it so easy to overlook? I think the answer could be put under http://dmoz.org/help/helpmain.html or http://dmoz.org/help/cats.html

It seems that a few people are having problems with the ODP server timing out when they try to submit their site. Some technical problems with the directory have resulted in staff temporarily reserving some of the server bandwidth for editors, and limiting the resources available to the public side. Coupled with some processor intensive software work to correct the problem, this has resulted in poor performance to the public. Unfortunately this means that some people have been unable to submit their sites. Thumbshots.org gives away free thumbshots previews for the DMOZ directory (over 3+Million preview images). Would DMOZ editors be interested in having optional previews embedded beside the links? My website, http://www.localpin.com, when it does not have current information from DMOZ, will just go and try and read the DMOZ page directly. Hi. I've just been trying to submit my company's website (http://www.softtissuecentre.com.au) to the Health:Alternative:Chiropractic:Offices and Professionals:Australia section and am receiving a "DNS or server error" error message. Looking through the forum it seems that this used to be a known problem (Maybe. I don't know if it's happening only to me but a few times a day, when I'm trying to acces dmoz.org, I receive an "operation timed out when attempting to connect..." Why? Is there to much traffic or is just my browser? BTW, I use Netscape 7.1

I was under the section of "Top: World: Chinese Simplified (13,414) " trying to browse some of the categories. I got the fobidden error messages from 13 of 15 sub categories. For example http://dmoz.org/World/Chinese_Simplified/%e6%96%b0%e9%97%bb/ The error message is I don't think there is any reason for not allowing me to access those catogories.

In DMOZ, for entries in the catagory below, a search of either "the entire directory", or the specific catagory, produces a return of "No results found" for a half-dozen sites where I have copied/pasted the web address, and then the DMOZ title, directly into the DMOZ search window. the directory is: Top: Regional: North America: United States: Arizona: Localities: P: Phoenix: Business and Economy: Real Estate: Residential: Agents I don't understand how text in the directory that I am looking at on my computer screen, and/or the exact hyperlink behind it, cannot be found. Please explain what it is that I don't understand here.

Our website whiteplainsairport.com does not show up when using a dmoz or google search using the top key words: "Westchester County Airport" or "White Plains Airport" However it DOES SHOW if one goes thru a search by category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Transportation_and_Logistics/Aviation/Airports/By_Region/North_America/United_States/New_York/ The only search term it seems to show up with is when searching "whiteplainsairport" I have just purchased some google ad space and the search "Westchester County Airport" displays the ad but does not does not show our website in the standard listing. Everyone else seems to be having the same problem. Why would the FAQ and help files be restricted now? Max

Website Administrator(s), Below is the error I get when trying to click on "Help" from the main web site. I dont need help but was just browsing the site and got the 403 error. You don't have permission to access /help/helpmain.html on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
