Is this area just for editors of the ODP? I had made an announcement regarding an open source group and it was removed. I hope that I did not violate anything. Its a free group, and it doesn't benefit me in anyway. Sorry if I made a mistake. Please answer my question or point me in the direction of guidelines for this forum. It looked like this forum was for posting anything not related to ODP. Sorry again and thanks.

Could those of you who have a link to a photo or image of yourself in your profile please check that it's a reasonable size? 5k is plenty good enough for a nice image to show up next to your posts. But there are some way bigger than that. Have pity on us on puny 56K modems (or slower) users! Seeing the big picture can more than double time time it takes to browse a thread. Thanks!

problems logging on to editors forums

Hi all - I've been an editor for a whole hour and already I need help <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> I'm unable to log on to the editors forums - my username/password work fine for these public forums as well as for my editor page, but I cannot access the restricted editors forums. I have the trouble with both Opera and IE, and with my firewall both on and off. Is there a simple solution to this problem that I haven't sussed yet, or is something else going on? Many thanks for any advice!

How heavily does Google rely on DMOZ listings (if at all) on whether or not they list a site? Some background: I did a search for our company name and came up with 73 hits, not one of which was one of our pages. I submitted our URL to Google again with that info as a note and 3 Googlebots were spidering our site within a couple of hours. From reading about the DMOZ Google update posts, I'm guessing I won't know if they've decided to include the site until mid-month. Or will our site not being in DMOZ prevent inclusion? I've got the idea that there's no 'formal' policy, but that's the 'net legend' going around. Can someone slay this rumor again please…

Newbie question about kmeta / meta

I notice there are editors, editalls, catmv and meta. I understand an editall is a "monster editor" who can access all cats and edit, a catmv can presumably move categories around (?) and a meta can do all of these functions plus add new editors. I also see some people have a title of kmeta. What's the deal with kmetas ? What does it mean ?

I know http://chefmoz.dmoz.org is not directly related but I know a few editors on DMOZ are on Chef Moz, so I ask this question: Any guidelines or tips other then what is listed on the site to become an editor that you can suggest? How is it different then DMOZ? Is there a un-official Chef Moz hang-out to find more information for Chef Moz editors and users? I've already applied (still waiting) but I'm just bringing this up for other people that are going through the same process. (Nothing came up in a forum search) ;-) Isaac Bentley

...I submitted a client's site to ODP back in November or December, and I can't remember exactly which category I put them in. <img src="/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" /> They're a business consultant, who's running a forum to discuss the consulting industry. Is there any way I can find out where they were submitted so I can find out the status?

My ISP has a problem with one the routers. If you are having timeouts on page loads then you are more than likely affected by this. It seems to be affecting anyone that connects from the west coast of the U.S. and most that access from other countries. This is out of my control. I have contacted the ISP and they assure me they are working on the problem. Sorry about any inconvenience.
