How Can I tell If I'm Listed

Hi, First off this is a great idea. Hats off to dmoz!!! I use to be listed in dmoz but I haven't been able to find my site anymore. Is there a way to find out what I might have done wrong if that is why it isn't listed anymore. I never claimed to be the best webmaster around but my visitors do like the ease of my site. It would be nice to know what I might of done so that I don't do it in the future. If I submitted my site not knowing it was already listed would that be a no no. Thanks for any feedback you can give. Regards, Pat

All: Welcome to the new Members Lounge, here at the ODP Public Forum. /images/icons/smile.gif This is a place where you can post anything and everything that's not specifically related to the ODP. Enjoy. /images/icons/smile.gif

Hello. I am currently the editor of Arts: Music: Bands and Artists: C: Collins, Phil I had recently applied to edit other categories related to my interests, however, when I applied, I was told that I didn't have enough edits so I was rejected. In the category I am in, there aren't many submissions to ODP, so I really can't gain any more experience in editing. So should I resign completely from that category (even though is a huge interest) and apply for another category, or should I go out on the net and find related sites and submit them so I can get more experience? I have many interests and would like to help out in as many categories as I can. Any information anyo…

Rejected as editor

I applied to be an editor, and was rejected. 2 of the sites I used in my application were from companies I declared an affiliation to. That was mainly because I had trouble finding sites that belonged in that category (a regional one) that were not already listed either there or somewhere appropriate. Would that be likely to be the reason for my rejection. I suspect I was also too wordy in what I said (and I can't say I had no typos either). I applied because I was worried about the apparent lack of editors for the country as a whole, and I thought that startin in my own region was a good idea.

I've been trying to list a site in the ODP, and get anxious about the note at the bottom that says "This category needs an editor". If as is the case I have to go up about 3 levels to find an editor, isn't this going to make review of the site unlikely? I submitted an application to be an editor 14 days ago along with my listing but I have not heard anything on that either. I would be willing to help out with a few categories under Warfare_and_Conflict. I am big Weapons follower. I know many girls are not into that type of thing but I really enjoy following the advancements in technology. The category I submitted to was: /Society/Issues/Warfare_and_Conflict/Weapon…

I submitted a site 6 months ago. Category had no editor so after a month I moved up the tree and gave the history to the editor up. After no response I wrote to another editor and receive a reponse saying that if the site was not listed in 3 months I should write back. After no listing I wrote back and received no response. After three weeks I wrote to another editor and included the history. After a week with no response, I tried submitting to another category. After a month of no listing, I wrote to another editor and included the history. After three weeks without a response I wrote back to the editor that said he would review it after three month…

I have been fired and I would like to know if, after that, I can apply again for a new cat like a new user? Thanks

Hi, first of all, I think having this forum is a great idea /images/icons/laugh.gif To what's important... I found several categories I would like to become an editor of, all of which does not currently have an editor. There aren't many sites in it as well - probably around 10. I'm wondering what the standards are to become editors. I don't have a website at the moment but I spend a considerable amount of time at forums learning stuff - all of which are related to those categories. I started out a few months ago, each day spending anywhere between 3 hours to 10 hours - yes... I'm an addict /images/icons/smile.gif Is that sufficient enough? Or is Dmoz looking at o…

I have a few questions: 1. My site was listed in a "very" regional category (which I chose when submitting), is there any way to get another listing in a more prominent area of the ODP since I cover more area in which I am listed? 2. When I use Google toolbar to go to the ODP area I am listed, it shows a PR of 0. Does this mean that Google does not consider this area important? 3. When searching the ODP I do not come up using any word in my title description. Is this normal. Thanks for any information /images/icons/smile.gif

How can I submit to ODP?

I tried to submit my site 3 times on monthly intervals to ODP but haven't been accepted yet. I don't think my site contains any illegal or inappropriate materials and the webpage design is professional. Anyone can advise me on how to get ODP editors to accept my site?
