I noticed several days ago that my website doesn't show up when I search on DMOZ although it shows up in the category still. I was told that there is a problem with the database at the moment and should be fixed soon. My question is, would it be ok to submit a site at the moment with this problem as I have a new one to add or should I wait till the problem is fixed?

I have submitted to just one category: Top: Business: Real Estate: Residential: Rentals The site I submitted has sublet listings nationwide both in the US and in Canada. My question is can we submit to more than one regions that our website covers. I wanted to submit our website (http://www.tosublet.com) to the DMOZ regional categories in which our website is more prominent. For example: For California: Top: Regional: North America: United States: California: Business and Economy: Real Estate: Rentals For New York: Top: Regional: North America: United States: New York: Business and Economy: Real Estate: Rentals For areas in Canada: Top: Regional: North …

The ODP seems irrepairably broken. Has this noble experiment failed? Trying to get listed is akin to winning the lotto...lots of hope but reality tells you it is near impossible. One site...waiting over 2 years...nothing. Another, "only" 2+ months. Do I resubmit? Yes, no, who knows. Resubmitting is bad, or is it? I have no idea if my categories are short on editors, staffed with lazy editors, or staffed with self serving editors who do not want competition. Whichever, this is a broken system. One can only hope that the search engines realize an ODP link should be worth no more than any other link. An ODP link in no way signifies a quality site; it only signifi…

>Is DMOZ supposed to (potentially) allow you to have a link directly to your site/url from a search engine? No, that forms no part whatsoever of the ODP's design, purpose, or process. If it happens, blame the search engine; if it doesn't happen, credit the search engine. Does DMOZ just get a link into a search engine showing the page/catagory you are listed under in the DMOZ. No. dmoz.org does not block search engine spiders; what they do with the data is strictly up to them. We don't officially care, although some of us are personally curious or even gratified. We do not do anything to assist or impede the search engines. >I have a personal page. I can …

Hi, I have noticd the occasional bad links when using the dmoz directory. I did not check every time, but I recall one bad link was on a section with no editor; I cannot comment if any of the other bad links were from edited sites. Is there a forum or an area inside dmoz where a non-editor can advise of bad links?

can sites using ODP data list sites?

There is a site (opendirectory.net) that claims for a yearly fee they can list you in the odp data. I am almost positive this is not true, but wanted the official word on this. I think what they would do is add sites to their odp site but not the full directory.

I know this is not a "submission status" forum... But I submitted my site several months ago and I just don't know where else to go to find out what the status is ... I looked all over the DMOZ site and there's no place to check the status or anything. How do I know that some editor didn't accidentally delete my entry and then I'm sitting here, hopelessly waiting for months? There's gotta be a better method than this ... My site is: http://www.rentspeed.com I believe the site was submitted to: http://www.dmoz.com/Business/Real_Estate/Residential/Rentals/ .. submitted in March ... Once again, I know this isn't a submission status forum, but if someone…

Hello Everyone, I suggested a site here of which I am a fan of, however, I thought that the introduction for the site should be edited because I forgot something to included in it. In my view the lacking information must be added so that our visitors will be able to see the site in a more comprehensive yet concise intro. I appreciate it if anyone of you could tell if my submitted intro for the site could still be edited and how could I do it. Thanks, T-Cells http://www.SurvivingProstateCancerwithoutSurgery.com

Just a little look... been a year now http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Autos/Makes_and_Models/Ford/Mustang/ I know you probably don't like these posts and if someone tells me this place is not a listing service one more time I'll post a bunch of these smilies in reply. I just would like a little consideration on getting my useful site in a directory that lists useful sites

We have successful web site. Due to the large increase in e-mails we find it difficult to answer them individually. We believe that we can best serve the needs of our customers and visitors with a Forum where one will be able to ask questions plus have the opportunity to interact with other people. Last week we have launched 'Forum' for our customers and visitors. Can we submit forum to ODP ? Our site is listed with ODP.

I have a couple of spiritual sites that I have been waiting for ages, to be listed on DMOZ. Now since I already have my own spiritual directory, I am good at adding interfaith sites. I am also a member on Zeal, so I have a clear idea of writing non bias descriptions. So my question is if I did join as an editor and added enough of my already existing links to some of your spiritual categories, would I then be able to also do my own later if my intentions are to improve DMOZ’s interfaith listings 1st?

Hi I submitted my site on 8th December 2011. The website sells a range of doona covers (also known as duvet covers or quilt covers). and are hoping to expand to sheets and other bedding products over the coming year. We don't sell the doonas themselves only the doona covers which come in a set which also includes 4 pillow cases. We only sell our product in Australia. There are multiple categories that this could be listed under and I'm unsure whether we selected the correct one. It would be great to get your advice. Business: Textiles and Nonwovens: Textiles: Bedding and Furnishings: Bed and Bathroom Products: Bedlinens Shopping: Home and Garden: Bedroom: Be…

One of our Websites has important changes so I tried to edit the DMOZ listing. The first step is to go to the category it is in but that section has reorganized and the category is gone! I searched on the Website's name to see if it had been put elsewhere but could not find it. However, I can't be sure it is gone because sometimes sites which are in the Directory have not been found via a search. I used the "Submit" form to type in a message explaining the problem but got no reply. I don't want to resubmit something which may still be there. And I even more strongly don't want to leave the old listing with wrong information. Any suggestions?

I used to achieve decent results [ranking] with dmoz for two websites I've designed. I submitted to a few categories for each site maybe once a month. These categories were honest and accurate. All of a sudden, the websites aren't listed on dmoz, but worse, I can't even browse the entire domain. Is my ISP or IP address blocked? I'm a website designer, I don't do email blasts, and only do infrequent SEO for two customers. Please help... Bob

I have had a site rejected due to 'lack of content'. I won't go into the details, because I'm not seeking council on the problem itself, more looking for a procedure to follow so I don't waste my or others' time. If I fully believe that the site I submitted has every bit of content that it needs to be a relevant and useful website, what recourse do I have? Thankyou

My site, Rose C. Zerbe's Camiguin Island , was been accepted I guess because I can find it by drilling down through Top: Regional: Asia: Philippines: Provinces: Camiguin. I am however unable to find it by doing keyword searches. What needs to be done to make it searchable? Thanks
