Hi! I'm numismundo, a new member on this Forum. 3 days ago, I wrote a thead in the Spanish section, where I explain my disappointment with the ODP reviewer, because I really felt ideal to the category that I ask to edit. Then, I ask some answer to my problem, but nothing happened. I sent a PM to the Moderator of the section, but he didn't respond me yet. Please, I need some answers, and the system looks like doesn't exist, nobody answer me, and I don't know what can I do. Thanks so much. ASAP Numismundo P.D.: Sorry for my poor english.

I saw, if we will write in dmoz search bar, like "resource" then it will show the result which wrote this word in dmoz. I mean to say, is this not possible that dmoz will pick these words from "web titles", "web descriptions", "web keywords", and "web site maps":icon_ques Thanks Ahmad

I am involved in web design and I have gained my knowledge from a college educated background.I applied for a listing with dmoz about 4 months ago and it is still not listed.I can only assume that dmoz " the directory " is mainly run by the older gereration who,because they have nothing else to do,decide to act as volunteers and are immediately accepted as editors because they,throughout their years,have given so much to the community or worse still because they are ex military people who have done so much for their country.The only problem with this is that most of these people or so it appears to me are ****ing senile and tend to forget very easily and,it goes without s…

our website have been indexed by Dmoz fortunately several days ago,I can find our company information in exact Dmoz Directory,but till now we can't search our company name or website url on Dmoz.when we type our our company name or website url in Dmoz.com search box, the search result always shows:"No Open Directory Project results found". could you tell me,what do that mean?

I find it interesting to note that the number has remained constant for the last few days for the number of sites in directory. The Open Directory has Been CLOSED !! My ODP Query - --> 5 Year old site not yet listed, Why ?

I first suggested my URL probably August or September. I resubmitted within the last two days. After I hit the "Submit" button, it seemed to be sending, but I am troubled by the next screen that came up. It did not indicate any error. It read something like "be sure you verify the code--if you cannot read it, ask for a new code". I could read the code, but backed up and took another code and did it again, with same result. I know I shouldn't resubmit, but I really don't know if it is really transmitting. Is there any way to confirm my suggestion went through? I did not receive any e-mail confirmations. Do you have any idea what the problem is?

This is a very entrenched industry with many companies specializing in this type of software and there is no DMOZ category. I'd be happy to be the editor for it.

I know hundreds of delhi based sites but it was disappointing to let you guys know that only 1 site is listed over here http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/India/Delhi/ Interestingly that listed website points to other websites sites. I essentially dont know whats the criteria of approval of websites. I applied in dmoz as editor 4 years ago but to avail none. Please be anwerable.

I searched FAQs and this forum but can't seem to find anything about this. I submitted my site over a year ago. I have google analytics set up on my site and this month on 2 separate occasions I see that editors from DMOZ have visited. Does this possibly mean I was snubbed by DMOZ and they won't list my site? Opinion on whether I should resubmit. I know I submitted to the correct category because I'm a gift basket company and that's pretty straightforward. Has anyone else experienced this. I have a web site that provides a great deal of information on digital audio restoration, i.e.: The kinds of hardware, software and techniques necessary to remove noise from analog recordings like lp's, reel-to-reel tape and cassettes. After searching through numerous categories and subcategories I am unable to find an appropriate category. Can someone suggest an existing category that would be appropriate for such a web site? My site: <url removed> was listed under: http://www.dmoz.org/Health/Animal/Mammals/Dogs/Nutrition/ When I logged into my wordpress account I noticed:http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/editcat-unrev.cgi?cat=Health/Animal/Mammals/Dogs I thought maybe an editor was just checking out my site again so I logged in and noticed my site was gone. I am figuring they just moved it to a different category since my site hasn't changed since inclusion. So my question is... How long does it take to move from one cat. to another?

Hi, My site was listed under the following category Arts: Literature: World Literature: Pakistani: Poetry http://dmoz.org/Arts/Literature/World_Literature/Pakistani/Poetry/ it stayed there for a very long time, and recently it has been removed from the directory, I wonder why this happened and my excellent website having more than 5.5 million page views have been removed from the directory. So I submitted my site about 3 years ago. Then again after about 2 years ago. This summer I offered to become an editor of the most relevant category or even to propose updates from another editor to review.

Hi All. I submitted my site to the directory a few months ago and its still not been listed and I don't understand why. I know it can take a while ect and the editors are volunteers etc which I understand and appreciate but another site that launched after mine has been listed, so the editor has to be active. My sites well designed and has lots of information on it. I've even found that I've been listed on the Best of the Web directory without paying for the submission myself so if I've manage to get listed on there for free I would presume they think my site is quality yet I'm not listed in DMOZ. Thanks for providing this forum we didn't know where else to turn. We are a non-profit, public service, security alarm forum and we believe that we offer unique content. Like the DMOZ (but on a much smaller scale) we are staffed entirely by volunteers. We submitted our site to the Open directory Project approximately 3 years ago and it has never been listed. Choosing the correct category was difficult; however, we did our best to get as close to the correct area as possible. We resubmitted after a year but, to the best of our knowledge we didn't spam the directory. We did employ the services of an SEO firm but as far as we know they didn't submit to ODP. …

Two of my websites in very different categories were suddenly dropped only after 2-3 weeks of them being listed. I wonder why they were dropped so soon after acceptance. There were no content changes in the website and the sites had no downtimes either.

I understand that editors will not give reasons on this forum for not including a site in the DMOZ directory, but I wanted to create this topic as an open discussion. Just putting together a few thoughts of where I think the ODP has a few issues with the view to having an open discussion about them and how they could possibly be improved. I am in no way attached to the ODP and so I don't really have much of a clue in terms of feasibility, but hopefully the editors can give us their input.
