Greetings, when I enter the url of my website in Odp Search Bar, the website appears, but when I enter the category where the website is placed, it does not show up in the category, please advise what can be the reason url of my website is <url removed>

It's been suggested to me that inclusion, or more specifically, lack of inclusion in the ODP doesn't harm any business or person. Post your thoughts and first-hand observations here. 1. Did getting listed in DMOZ improve your ranking results at other sites? 2. Was there any noticeable difference in your traffic patterns pre/post inclusion? 3. Is anyone here indexed in AOL or any other TWX owned property's search engine without being listed in the ODP? 4. How would you rate your experience with the ODP? I realize these forums are heavily weighted towards users wanting inclusion, but I'd really like to hear from some of those that already are.

Does anyone know if too many Google Adsense ads in your sites will prevent it from getting listed? I have two sites with plenty of (what I consider) helpful information that I have been trying to get listed for a while, <URLs removed> is it a lost cause because of the Adsense?

Hi, I'm trying to get a status on a site I submitted a while back. We have changed domain name from petscriptions.co.uk so would like to say that the latter should be rejected but petmeds.co.uk is the correct one. Aslo, I can't remember if I submitted to the best category. Hopefully, I did to this one Top: Shopping: Pets: Supplies: Health I won't resubmit and annoy people for doing so. I'm incredibly sorry if I shouldn't be asking for a status report on my domain but from other threads it indicates I'm allowed to ask after 1 month submission and it's been much longer. I would be enternally grateful for any feedback. I am looking to become an editor once th…

Can someone please assist me? I am feeling some major pressure from my management to fix something for a client site. The search engine results are pulling a DMOZ summary of content that is years old and extremely outdated, how can this be repaired? Thanks! Jadence

I'm sure you are all aware that there are people on various forums slagging Dmoz off left right and centre, why do they do it? Mainly beacuse they are not listed, I am not listed in Dmoz but I would never slag it off, I mean it's free how can you knock something what is free, even though I am not listed in Dmoz there are many sites that link to me that are, so indirectly Dmoz sorts me out, I'm sure it is the same with the Dmoz haters. Dmoz haters stop slagging it off and be patient.

http://www.site-reference.com/articles/General/Ineffective-DMOZ.html What they describe has not been my personal experience. I've always had positive and quick response to my web submissions. It's like they're describing an alternate universe. Oh well.

More salt for the soup or is that the sore? I was reading over the "Stafford Web Edict Guide" attempting to more conducive, and credible to visitors, implementing all the big boy technology right down to the browser privacy policy. I check the ranks of all the sites I manage and low and behold one of the sites description and ranks disappeared. So I started to look for some answers as to why this would happen when I found the following. Well I got quite turned off on this piece of information as the site I had submitted, had to have been totally deleted from the submissions area of dmoz. You ask why do I think this. This is were they get the Site Name and …

I do, though only when referring to what I am professional at, i.e. helping clients rent a perfect holiday property in France through my website. However, I am not a professional of web-initials including SEO, DMOZ, CPT, CPM, PR etc. As a self-confessed amateur at all of this, do I pay one of the many thousands of so-called 'professionals' upfront to get people to visit my website - which no-one can guarantee!! - or do I try and work it our for myself? Well, as I am reasonably intelligent and a keen DIY-er at home, I thought I'd look into DIY directory registration and general DIY SEO. I keep coming across individuals & companies who tell me I am crazy to try…

Hi Everyone! I hope everyone has a great Holiday Season! I have a question that I could not find an answer to so if it has been discussed before I apologize. My question is how would a ODP listing help websites that already have a decent to good ranking in the major search engines and are already listed in numerous other directories? I have 4 websites that I have submitted to the ODP without success but they all rank pretty well for my keywords in Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. And I have submitted one site to 3 or 4 of the other larger directories (including Yahoo). After submitting my one particular site to the directories I noticed no significant increase in traffic…

Hi, I have had a new site built <url removed> ] have submited to dmoz a few times and never got listed and never had any email or anything telling me why. But I think it could be because my old site is still online. (<url removed>) is there any way of geting my new site listed when the old is still there? Can I have the old listing updated to have the details of the new site or can I have the old site removed then re-submit the new one???

Hello, ODP´s editor community has decided to publish regular reports in future, to inform the public about the development of the project. You can find the announcement and a link to the first report in the thread Inside the ODP: ODP Reports If you have questions about the content of the report, feel free to use this thread to ask Please keep in mind, though, that the reports are... well... reports, no policy papers Questions about the meaning of the data in the report are welcome, suggestions what further research might provide interesting insights will certainly be read - but please do not expect editors to discuss directory policy in the reports or in t…

How long does it take to get a server back online? It is really unbelievable how long this is taking. I could re program the website in less than a weeks worth of work. I do not understand why it is taking so long or why there isn’t a detailed status of what is happening why there isn’t estimated date of getting back online.

Hello, It's clear to me that DMOZ plays a significant role in terms of access and content on the world wide web. Why then should their listing polices be shrouded in dubious time tables and polices like the current Iraqi government. If there is a problem maybe some of us could assist and get things moving! Nuff of my two cents Philip

hallo Suddenly my site kap-webdesign.dk is not shown in dmos anymore, how come? It was here http://dmoz.org/World/Dansk/Edb/Internet/Webdesign_og_-udvikling/Frederiksborg_Amt/ in the right category for about 2 years. No doorways pages - no funny stuff, just a normal site! Can anyone tell me why? KAP

Hello, I had to change my blog's URL. My blog is currently listed as AllThingsFinancial (<url deleted>. I need to change the name to AllFinancialMatters and the URL to <url deleted>. Everything else is staying the same. It is the same blog, just a different name. Is there anything I need to do on my end? Thanks, JLP

Good evening. My first visit ever to a web forum. Looking through the various categories under Shopping: Health: Alternative I am unable to find a subcategory that fits our product and would like to ask for some assistance - I hope this question falls within the guidelines. Charcoal therapy is not something new but it is little known, certainly in North America. Medicinal charcoal cannot be correctly classified as an herb, nor as a supplement. It is not folk medicine since there is extensive scientific research on its application and benefits. It is used by allopathic, homeopathic, and naturopathic practitioners alike. It is a natural remedy in the classic sense bu…
