Hi, I submitted my company's site a week ago, to go under the following category: Computers: Software: Groupware: Microsoft Exchange: Exchange Hosting Services When would this usually be accepted by? We are definitely only fit for that particular category as we are Exchange specialists much in the same way as all of the other company under that category. Many thanks, Darren Roberts

I run a small NONE registered charitty called The NAtional Ferreters Register <url removed>. I have submitted my site 4 times over the last 12 months. Having no success I looked through the rest of the sites with my section Top: Recreation: Outdoors: Hunting: Ferreting (17) and found that some links were brocken some sites had nothing on them and some sites were truly horrible and were last updated pre war (joke). So I thought I would apply to be editor this way I could add my site and sort out the rest making dmoz a little more accurate I was rejected. can anybody advise me on what to do I belive in odp project and feel that that a man managed system is far better…

About 6 months ago, and also about 1 month ago, I submitted my website "The Meeting Point EU" at <url removed> for inclusion into the registry at Society: Relationships: Dating: Personals: International. Hi, I recently submitted a site to DMOZ, looking at threads on this forum it is suggested that the fastest way to get listed is to select the correct catagory. Problem I have is that I cant find the perfect catagory, how is it possible to suggest another catagory without being an editor ? Terence

Hi All, Very new to this forum, so I hope i have put this in the right place. Hi folks hopefully this is a straightforward issue / request. Our first site went live 15/9 and we submitted to DMOZ, we were then very pleased to find that we had been accepted. All was right with the world However, last night it all disappeared and after searching and surfing all over the place and not finding any information why this happened decided to contact DMOZ using the abuse function. How about a tool for editors that scans a category for similar ips or whois information? I know a couple of weeks back I found 2 sites from the same real estate company in the same real estate cat and it seemingly went un noticed. If there was a tool that editors could use to search cats for simliar information they could clean out a lot of the dead weight and scammers. An application like this would be pretty easy to code. Also new submissions could be checked against current listings to instantly discover any affiliations

As a new member, I notice quite a bit of frustration and time spent on NOT knowing. I may be a bit naive or have not been here long enough to know whether it was previously discussed, could not find it in FAQ, but has anyone thought of an automated interactive database. Something like: 1. You submit a site within a category. 2. It automatically joins the line within the category. 3. How about setting up a feature for editors that allows them access to a drop down menu of sorts that allows them to give a reason for not listing for sites that are close, but cant be listed for some simple reason. If DMOZ is here to make the web a nicer place for us all, why not give editors the choice send a tiny bit of feedback. I am sure editors would only use something like this 1% of the time with spam and all, but how nice would it be for webmasters that have a nice site and couldnt get in for something silly. It might even cut down on repeat submissions and people coming in here to complain. Sites that are awful or spammy would simply be deleted with no response. …

Wow.!! How could our site be removed after 5 years..? I read some similar threads and I can only guess that it's because of: 1.) server being down temporarily or 2.) the editor thinks the site is an affiliate site. Yes, we do have "some" affiliate links like Yahoo does and others but we do offer a viable business in originating mortgage loans as stated on the "about us" page along with our company address. Forgive me if this is a dumb question. How does a user submit a banner to dmoz? I love the dragon, and thought it would be fun to create one. But, I couldnt find any info on how to submit.
