Rainbow Academy is listed under Regional: North America: United States: New Jersey: Localities: W: Woodbridge: Education Since originally being listed, they have expanded to eight locations in New Jersey, only one of which is in Woodbridge. I'm not authorized to edit the site in its current category; how can I suggest the proper editor revisit this site and change its description and category? Bill

I understand that editors can pick websites from the internet and list them in the directory without the webmaster or site owner knowing. And the process taken is to alter the title and descrition of the webmaster that best describes a website. I want to eliminate this haphazard posibility just in case my site is targetted for processing and listed where I may not want it to be listed, or altered if listed. Is there a page where one can automatically nullify an unwanted listing? And does a proper and efficient complaints procedure exist other than such forums and discussion boards. Many thanks for your co-operation.

I recently noticed that one of my clients has lost its ODP listing. The website sells online invitations. This website has had a listing for several years. I am wondering if an editor reviewed the site and saw that is was an affilate site and removed it from the listings. Have the policies changed over the last few months? If the site was approved before and nothing has changed with the format or the individual pages then why would we have lost our odp listings. In ending, Is there any sites that are out there that receive approval through the ODP that are uniquie and that does not have duplicate content? Thanks for any input on this

Good morning, I have tried unsuccessfully for the past 6 to 7 months to get my website category updated as well as my description to better reflect my service to the correct market. I notice you say too many requests will not achieve the goal and in fact do the opposite. How does one know what is too many when they wait for months between update requests and still there is absoluty no response? Perhaps if you had some way to acknowledge the changes requested or we could see the changes as requested within a reasonable time you would not be bombarded with the same requests time and time again for the same sites. We have no way to know if there is even an editor in our c…

I understand that there are no longer site status checks, but does that include ones that have recently been dropped? My website, (I will send it over privately should that be required), disapeared about a month ago. I have read through lots of posts and understand there are many reasons why this has happened, including that it may be moved to another category, but still the listing hasnt re-appeared? Content is all unique and has been added to, so it cant be content? Is there anything I can do, or have I done something drastically wrong?

Good day, I submitted my site <URL Removed> a few months ago. I understand it takes a while to become listed and resubmitting would cause a problem. I have since lost the printout I made of my submission. As my site falls within many categories (antiques, gifts, collectibles, hobbies etc), how can I get a copy of my submission information. or at the very least, how do I find out which category I submitted to. I believe I submitted to the Varied merchandise subcategory within Collectibles, not sure. Would anyone be able to confirm this? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Anthony

I am appalled by the fact that in spite of submitting my web site numerous times over the past 3 years, I haven't still been listed. If it were based on quality alone, that would not even be an issue. I have a world class web site in terms of design, usability, and adherence to standards. What else do your editors require to list web sites in your directory? I am anxious to know. My web site address is: <removed> Thank you for your attention to the above.

Submission topic: http://dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers/Wedding_and_Events/North_America/United_States/California/ 2. <url removed> Description: Premium California winery producing Central Coast Chardonnay and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Hi, I got my site listed in dmoz finally ,but the title is totally wrong. In the link http://dmoz.org/Business/Opportunities/Brokerages/ Listopica,Inc is the title name which happens to be the parent company, and owns several other sites completely irrelevant to the topic. Hence i applied for an update. Can anyone give me an idea on how long i will have to wait to view the update on dmoz? Thanks a lot,

A few days ago, my site was still listed, but I found that it has been removed today, I don't know what happened. I also checked with submission guidelines and editor section, but I don't think my site is one of sites that are listed there. Can anyone tell me what I can do and where I can get some helps? Thanks, mc

I first submitted my site to DMOZ about a year ago. At that time the DMOZ instructions were to wait a month before resubmitting. As my site was quite young and I was added to it constantly, I duely submitted every month or so, hoping that I would have crossed the quality threshold were I could be added. Earlier this week I was going through the forums (for the first time in many months) and found out that the policy had changed. The threads I read said that one was to submit only once, and that submitting multiple times would result in the site being banned. Consequently, as I hadn't checked the rule changes, I may well have inadvertently put myself in the posit…

Hello, I had several listings in dmoz for many years, my site is pretty big and has some very specific areas which is why it had multiple listings, but I noticed today that every listing was removed. Is there a way for me to find out what happend? Thanks in advance-

Hi there, Our site has been live now for over 18 months and I have submitted to DMOZ just twice. I can confirm that we don’t appear in the directory, well not yet anyway! but we now appear on the first page in Google UK for a couple of our keywords (out of 3,930,000). So it does appear that inclusion here is not critical for a good listing. All you need is a good site and to give it time. Cheers,

How can I find the status of my site submission? I've submitted the site to 3 or 4 categories over the past 6 months since it launched ... and nothing has happened. No status, no emails, no listing. Can someone help me to determine the status of my site? I'm note sure whether its just pending or not being accepted? Moreover, if its not being accepted, what am I doing wrong? Note - I just submitted the site to 3 relevent categories again this evening, since its been a while. Thanks Neal.

I noticed that somebody from editors.dmoz.org has visited my website a few days ago.. I haven't been added to dmoz nor was I sent any kind of notice about being added or rejected. Does this mean that my site didn't meat the standards and was rejected?

About four months ago I launched my first ever site, and a couple of days later submitted it to the Open Directory. At the time there were eleven sites already listed in the category I selected. Today I looked at that category again, and there are still only those same eleven sites ( I had saved a copy of the page to my computer, so I have a record of the sites.) So I am wondering-- Were all the sites (including mine) submitted in the past four months rejected? Or is there another explanation? Thank you billybw

Do other people click their DMOZ bookmark then when the page has loaded immediately start typing a search and hit enter only for nothing to happen, and then realise that they had to click the search box in order to use it and the webpage didnt automatically put the curser in there when the page loaded? I cant get out of the habit, I blame google for it. With there not being any other forms on the page, wouldnt it make sense to have the curser automatically in the search box? It wouldnt make any difference to people who use the drill down navigation, but would make life easier(very very slightly ) for those that used the search.

What can we do about irresponsible editors? I have a high quality site that has been ignored by the editor in the category I submitted to (I followed the guidelines carefully). The only explanation I can think of is: A: The editor is a competitor in my category B: The editor is not carefully reviewing sites, and/or is not including sites responsibly. I've read that some editors don't even view submissions, is this true? I have a legitimate American Small Business, and given the weight of an ODP listing, I feel that my exclusion is irresponsible. I'm open to suggestions (I've applied to become an editor with no response as well).
