Does DMOZ notify site submitters when their site have be accepted/received? My reason for asking is that I have not received any response from DMOZ saying that my site has been accepted or rejected (submitted sometime in March 06) Of course, I don't wan't to keep resubmitting and then get penalized. What is the policy? Am I in the queue? Should I resubmit? All I need to know is: has my submission been recieved/accepted? My site is <URL Removed> It was submitted under "Alternative Medicine/Naturopathy" as well as "Alternative Medicine/Homeopathy" Thanks in advance for your response. Regards, Tony

Hi, I have been trying to get my website listed (<censored>) on DMOZ for ages, but never been successful. I have followed each & every step that is required, but never got listed. Is it possible to tell me if the site is still waiting to be reviewed or already rejected? Many thanks

Hi Ok, I tried a couple times at the DMOZ site to request this, but after months, I've yet to receive a response. I'm hoping to reach someone here.... My request is simple: please remove my site, <url deleted> from your index (it is currently here: <url deleted>) What's funny about this is that I didn't submit this site for inclusion in your directory, but I've been trying for 3 years to get my other site listed with you with no luck, even though I followed your guidelines to a tee. Anyway...would you be so kind as to please remove my site from your directory? How long do you think it will take to do this...? Thanks!!

I listed two web applications 4 months ago <urls removed> but they still didn't show up in the list. Does anyone know who should I contact for this issue? Thanks.

I've attempted to list my site in DMOZ for two years (flickeringlights.net). I've probably submitted it around four or five times to no avail. I've worked very hard to develop the site to it's current look yet I just can't get listed in DMOZ. I read the FAQ. I get it. It can take years. It's been years. If DMOZ declines to include my site, that's ok, it's not personal. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A polite "declined" email be would be nice though. I still like and support the efforts of DMOZ, even if I can't get listed

I have a general question. My site was listed in the open directory about 3 weeks ago or so. But I have noticed that when I type it in, it does not come up on the search results (nor any of the words listed in the description). I try the same with other sites that are listed there and they come up. Is this a problem or does it just take time. Cheers, JSI

Hello, I just registered. I've submitted my site a few times already and the last one was about 4 weeks ago. I don't know what is happening. I don't know the status. I don't know who is the editor, because at the time there was no editor. I don't know how to contact whoever is editing. I don't know why we are not able to check the status and to know the status. IMHO, the whole procedure at dmoz is very outdated and extremely unreliable and ineffective. I checked a few websites with gemstone jewelry which are listed, and I not only can't find any "unique content" but I can't see why these sites are listed. Because the jewelry is far far far from being "unique"…

After years of trying to get YVB listed on the "Open Directory Project" (webmasters say is the most important Search Engine on the planet) tonight at 5:20pm I discovered it was freshly listed. I would like to thank them kindly and expect them not to be ever disappointed with their decision. Cheers.

I hope this is the right forum for this question...didn't find anything closer to the mark. At what point would you consider a site to be an affiliate site? In other words, if a site claims to offer goods or services but the goods and services are actually offered by a re-directed site, isn't that an affiliate site? For example, is a site offers rental cars, but the actual renting of the car is redirected to a real rental-car site which actually processes the rental...is the original site an affiliate?

On many, many occaisions during the last two weeks I have noticed a "The page cannot be displayed" result on my searches via DMOZ and this concerns me. The same result does not come from ( any of the 'popular' ) engines during like-kind searches. Are there issues of manpower, traffic, hardware, competition that might be noted? Thx.

Please excuse this rather long post. It is a true story and would welcome any comment. Several months ago, a fellow entered my office and identified himself as a 50% owner and the webmaster for a site related to our category. His site was listed in most search engines around 10-12 sites from the top. With nothing close to what one would describe as 'unique content'. He said he would like to be an affiliate site of ours. We informed him that we had discontiinued our affiliate program over a year before, and that we are no longer prepared for or interested in having affiliates, because the small commission we charge to our clients for the use of our software, did …

i have my portfolio site that i am trying to list. i submitted my site 4 months ago, but didn't get listed. i updated stuff on my site; lot more content, etc... i resubmitted, but still nothing. i know my site has not been reviewed because i check my refer-logs and i know i havent had any visits from dmoz. (and i know from past experience with other sites that dmoz.org does show up)... the category is not very big, and i would say my site is on par with a lot of the ones already listed. i know that hardly any site has been listed over the last year.... and i dont know what to do.... should i try to contact the editor and see if i have blacklisted, or there'…

I am trying to submit my site http://www.ticketspot.com to the dmoz directory under the category Shopping > Entertainment > Tickets. One of the rules is as follows for the ticketing category: "SUBMISSION NOTICE FOR THE TICKETS CATEGORY: Please do not submit affiliate and reseller sites. We will not accept sites that are resellers of other sites selling the same tickets (e.g. Eventinventory.com, Brokertix.com, Razorgator.com, TicketsNow.com, TicketsUS.com, etc.) Sites that exist solely to drive traffic to another site's central ordering system for the purpose of commission sales are considered mirror sites, and the ODP does not list these sites. Thanks for your…

Hello all of you. This might be a dumb question, but I have searched over the forum and the answer still hasn't been answered. Where do I submit a MySpace source site? Thanks! Is this fine? http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Authoring/Online_Tools/ or http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Authoring/Online_Tools/Layout,_Tables,_and_Frames/ ?

Hi, I was wondering if different pages on the same website can be submitted for consideration in separate categories. My website http://www.endangerous.com is appropriate for the Printed T-shirt category, and I have another page http://www.endangerous.com/pcords.html that would be appropriate for the Sporting Goods: Skydiving category. If I were to submit these two pages to their respective categories, would it be considered spamming since they are on the same website? (Of course I'd be grateful if either one were included...I'm not trying to be greedy:o ) Thanks! Neil

I went to add our site to dmoz.org and discovered that we already have 8 entries. The problem is I have no idea who these people are and have a feeling many no longer work for my organization. Some of the links no longer work. The description of our organization has changed. I could find no information online that will tell me how to address this so I can update and mantain and delete some of the links. I am not an administrator. I sent an email to staff@dmoz.org and it was returned. What do I do? My site is http://www.wheelock.edu and I am the web manager/master etc. Nancy Johnson <email removed for your own protection>

Hi, I have noticd the occasional bad links when using the dmoz directory. I did not check every time, but I recall one bad link was on a section with no editor; I cannot comment if any of the other bad links were from edited sites. Is there a forum or an area inside dmoz where a non-editor can advise of bad links?

I was reading the different threads on the forum and noticed that members are interested in "site status information". I'm very new to this forum, in fact just today and the reason why I registered is to know more how a particular site will be accepted or rejected on DMOZ. I have read that site owners have waited 5 years for their sites to get listed while others have given up hope. I have heard a lot of feedbacks regarding DMOZ and the importance of the directory, but on theses cases I have read, how will DMOZ inform site owners & webmasters on their site status. I know that DMOZ implemented a new policy for "Status Checks" and this is fine if it would defeat…

If they have rejected my site coz it wasn't developed so well in the initial start period, should I go ahead and submit it again now? Also, if there can be any process by which I can know have my site been rejected in the past so that I can submit it again? I had submitted my site to Home: Consumer Information: Electronics. But I can't find it yet listed. I would request you to plz help me.
