I read that only 31% of the suggestions are submitted to the correct category. If this is true, then it could mean that the dmoz categories are out of sync with the way people actually categorize content. Does DMOZ have any plans to make changes to the category structure?

Hello , I need some major help here . I own a website called worldbodyjewelry.net . It is one of the largest body jewelry sites online . It has taken me 3 years to build it to how it is now. Last year i submitted it to Dmoz. I was listed for about a week and then droped from the listing and "blacklisted" I need someone to tell me WHY. The only reason that i got about it is that my website was registered under another body jewelry company from out of state. That is true but it is because they bought the name for me. We are totally 2 different companys, I have over 1,000 different products then they do and no other sites carry the 1,000 addition products that i do. I…

I'm hoping someone can answer my question. I submitted my website http://PixieandthePrince.biz over two years ago and it's still not listed. I believe it was last awaiting review here: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Gifts/Personalized/Embroidery/ Alot has changed in that time and I've just moved the site to http://PixieandthePrince.com for many reasons. My question is should I submit .com, or would I be penalized for spamming? I'd prefer the old submission to be deleted as it's way outdated if even awaiting review, but wasn't sure how to proceed. Thanks for your time~ Julie Mounce Pixie and the Prince Embroidery

Hi fellows, I really wish to see my site <url elided> appear on DMOZ listing someday (Oh! that i submitted to DMOZ almost over 1 and a half year ago under the following category <elided>. I wonder how sites released 6 month ago have already showed up in the listing already (Unfortunately having similar content to my site or atleast i did not find anything unique in the site compared to the other sites listed in the category). Is there an editor that takes bribe? Please let me know, im good at keeping secrets. Neways this is basically not to make sarcastic comments i genuinly feel underprevliged i think. Cheers Manvir

Some people, such as vorxio have posted enough information to submit a credible abuse report. (I've submitted abuse reports internally with less information.) If the information posted is accurate, I would suggest that such people do so. The forum rules do not permit discussion of specific editors' actions here or on the internal forums.

I would like to know, If I move my website to a new domain name, will DMOZ list the new domain name if I use a permanent redirect pointing to the new domain name from my old domain name. Also is there a way to insure that my new domain name WILL NOT be listed in DMOZ? Even if someone else submits my website to dmoz without my permission. Example: robots.txt file I see there is no way of having a listing removed from DMOZ. So I want to make sure that my listing is not added to DMOZ. Example: as indicated in this thread, Reply line #15, http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10192 Thanks :-)

Is there any way of finding out when the change of an URL has been made in the ODP?

A lot of what I read on these forums could be classified as disgruntled. I submited my site for inclusion in the ODP sometime in October after reading all the submission policies on the site. After a few weeks, I then checked these forums to learn more and followed the advice that the editors gave. Submit once. Wait a month or two. Submit again and then forget about it. Which is exactly what I did, kinda bored at work atm so I figured I'll do a check-up on the ODP for our site not expecting it to be there after hearing so many stories of people waiting over a year. To my surprise we are listed now. Exactly where we should be with the exact description I gave (whi…

In my last awstats update, I noticed that under the referring search engines section DMOZ was listed as one of the referrers (four times to be exact). Does this mean someone found my site by searching DMOZ directly from the ODP site? The site is http://www.spacebuffs.com, which I only recently submitted, but I can't find it listed in the ODP anywhere despite the referrals. Mind you, DMOZ was listed as a referring search engine, not a referring site.

I have finally got my site listed in the Online Cardrooms section of the directory and was wondering how and if I should try to become listed in other sections as well. I appologize for not knowing exactly how the system works and was looking for some feedback. Thank you! It's the CelebPoker.com site. My DMOZ Link

I built a website for my local church with url http://www.oltonbaptist.org.uk. Someone else at the church hosts and 'owns' the url. However, they changed the url to drop the .uk part and now it's simply http://www.oltonbaptist.org. The .org.uk is still live and redirects to the .org site. Is this a problem and should I resubmit or not? Many thanks CharlesR :icon_ques

Not being an expert in search engines, I employed the services of a "professional" SEO expert. Learning as I go, I eventually realise he is not what he claims to be. There were several problems with my site (now fixed) but I have no idea what my submission status really is. I know what he tells me but I dont believe him. I have fired him but need to know where I am. He may or may not have caused me damage. Particularly concerned with DMOZ status. I have now submitted to the correct category which is: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Recreation_and_Sports/Motoring/Classifieds/ Not sure what he did. Can anyone please ass…

Hi, here I'm again. I previously opened two polemical threads against DMOZ policy about sites status check: "Far to be perfect ... ": http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41905 and "my site will never be listed on DMOZ ... ": http://resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42021 Luckily I met a HEARTY dmoz editor XXX in another forum (not on DMOZ), I talked with him on ICQ, and he politely checked the status of my site. He said that it has been repeatedly rejected by THE SAME dmoz editor YYY because ACCORDING TO HIM my site lacks of unique content. Now, I could spend MANY lines of text to prove that this judgment IS WRONG (my site has som…

My site is listed with an old and obsolete title. I submited a detailed listing update 2 times in the last 2 months without any results or feedback from an editor. The listing is located in Computers/Software/Freeware/Developers/. I don't know if it matters, but it looks like this category doesn't have an editor. Does anyone have an advice on how I can update this listing?

Just a little look... been a year now http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Autos/Makes_and_Models/Ford/Mustang/ I know you probably don't like these posts and if someone tells me this place is not a listing service one more time I'll post a bunch of these smilies in reply. I just would like a little consideration on getting my useful site in a directory that lists useful sites

ODP editors are not only slow The ODP is the only organization in the modern world that proudly puts out a customer service announcement like this one. How long should I wait before I resubmit? The simple answer is "forever". Not even with a wink. The ODP doesn't have a problem with speed; it has a problem with reality.

Please help! I have a listing in dmoz for the past couple of months. The problem is the listing does not come up in a dmoz search nor does it appear on sites that utilize dmoz data. Another interesting point is the entry before and after my listing works fine and does come up in a search. Any clues? My site is listed here in DMOZ: http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/B/ (Bitochon Technologes http://www.bitochon.com) Here is an example where google uses the dmoz data and you don't see my site at all: http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers/Full_Service/…
