Can I resubmit a vanity site?

I was told that my site: http://pumpkinpatchcreation.com is classified as a vanity site. I am currently working on making that site a full working site hopefully up and running this week. My question is do I need to resubmit this site, since it will be totally different now, or is there some type of rule against submitting a site that was previously a vanity site? My site has been listed in ODP for just about 2 months..Recently I have noticed that my site is no longer listed in the category in which it was listed, although it does still show up under a domain search or relavant keyword search. Can anyone give me any information as to what may have happened? Hi, My site was listed a while back in the following category. Regional: Europe: Ireland: Dublin: Municipalities: South Dublin: Business and Economy This is the wrong category for us, we provide flowers delivery all over Ireland and our admin office is actually based in North Dublin not South Dublin. We feel the following category would be more applicable for what we do. I have spoke with the editor of Business/Small Business/Business Plans. He has told me that to get my link moved to another category I must submit it here since there is no editor in my present category which is Business/Management/Consulting/O. He has told me that if an editor can move my link which is Office Central USA http://www.officecentralusa.com to Business/Small Business/Business Plans which he is the editor of he will inturn move my link to Business/Small Business/Business Plans/Consulting. I've definitely learned a lot in the past few months about submitting to DMOZ. One thing that I didn't know about is the resubmitting of the same site if it's not accepted. I have only resubmitted my site a couple times over the past few months, so *hopefully* that's not too many. Anyways, my question is - what is to stop a competing company from submitting their competitor's website to DMOZ in 50 different categories, just to purposely label their competition as a "spammer"? Hello, I have submitted ( http://www.barcelonapoint.com ) our multilingual site to only the Spanish and English sections of DMOZ under /Barcelona_City/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/ . It has appeared in the Spanish version quite a long time ago. An editor private messaged me that the english submission had ended up in the German section (probably because the editor who got it had a german language setting on their computer and the site defaulted to it) which I never had not intended at the time. I was just thinking .. Would it really be that hard for the DMOZ to implement a feature which would auto inform people when their site was rejected or added.. I'm not sure how the Editors control panel works but I'm guessing its dynamic with some database and then eventually a "YES" or "NO" button to add the link or something.. Could it really be that hard to have a sub function in the program to email the person who submitted it (after all they do give you their email address) with an auto response saying Added in "Directory" .. or "Rejected". It would save a hell of a lot of time!!! and its very very simple to implement

I submitted my site a few weeks ago; as far as I know it has not yet been reviewed. I have two questions: 1) In the site description I included a word, "intriguing," that I now realise could be viewed as promotional. Is an editor likely to rewrite the description? Or could the submission be rejected on those grounds? 2) The page I submitted is not actually the home page of my site. Will this be a problem? (The home page links to the submitted page, which in turn links to most of the site content.) Thanks, Nick

We have a dating/personals site (http://matchopolis.com) which has several separate communities (mainstream, gay, lesbian, etc.). We originally built the site as an "all in one" design, but recently divided the site into several separate subdomains since each one has such a distinct audience (eg. http://gay.matchopolis.com, http://lesbian.matchopolis.com, etc.). Dividing the site made sense because its a natural division, not an artificial one - ie. If someone has an interest in one of the subdomains, it almost precludes them from having an interest in another subdomain. I have been trying to get my site listed for YEARS. I have even promised $50.00 tp the person who could do it. People that have sites similar to mine have used their format to submit mine and nothing! Is there some sort of taboo or no-no to subit a business selling crocheted items?? Jeez - very depressing.

I am trying to submit, but keep getting the following reply:- Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@dmoz.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. I haven't had a lot of success in getting http://www.relationships911.org included in ODP, although it's not been a long time since I've submitted. Rather than try and figure out the details by trial and error, I'm wondering if there's a kind soul who might be able to suggest what category might be most appropriate for the site, and, whether any of the sub-areas could be submitted for more deep-linking. relationships911

I periodically search DMOZ for my site, suggested about a 1 1/2 yrs ago, to see if it has been included - which produces no results. I just did a google search for "dmoz" and <the site name>. Strangely, that produced a web page that appears to contain dmoz listing information for my company. I can provide the link to the page if you'd like. I submitted to DMOZ myself without doing any research, only reading the guidelines on DMOZ. That was 2 yrs ago and then again last year. Getting listed is very important to our company and I'm not sure how I should proceed, to re-submit a quality listing or just sit back and forget about ever getting listed. What is the ODP policy on site changes or updates after it has been accepted in the directory. Are sites re-indexed periodically? I can see quite a potential for abuse if listed sites are being changed afterwards.

Dear Forum Members: I submitted my site as a newbie to a very poor choice of category in regard to relevancy. Should I use the edit URL link in the poor category or is there an alternative method of requesting category change.
