I just submitted my application to become an editor. One of the three sites started with "go.to" and try as I might, I couldn't find the "real" URL. The site is in Sweden, I believe, though it's in English. I submitted it anyway because the information in it is extremely important. Do you folks think it will cause my application to be denied? There wasn't any place in the application for me to explain the situation... Thanks, Lisa Owens LuvMyMice

'Bad Authentication Ticket' Response on E-Mail
by Guest kag10- 6 replies

Hi, I'm in the application process to become an editor and have received the "please reply to this email to verify email address." I am getting the "Bad Authentication Ticket" response. The subject line contains some very strange characters: Subject: opendir - \¤Úeúy#TR´ I assumed this was my verification number, but apparently something is wrong. Can anyone help me? I submitted my application today approx. 5 hours ago, and don't want the application process to "expire" if I can't respond to the verification email. Any help is appreciated! My email: kafoster10@charter.net

My application was denied again, for apparently not disclosing all of the websites that I have been associated with. Yes, I'm a web developer, but I have only previously done back-end work for (two) sites that are password-protected and that I take no ownership of, and I see no reason to mention them in my application. I disclosed the one website I actually have actual ownership of, and is the only one I felt was worth mentioning. In any case, I think that this is a very silly reason to reject someone's application.

Hi, May I ask, for application to become an editor, what should be provided for the section of: "Please give details, including URLs, of any sites that you own or have designed or promoted, either in full or part. Also, mention whether you have contributed content to any site, and give URLs as appropriate" The above is quoted in remark to my editor application (I was rejected and deemed as have not provided details, though I tought I have). My question is, do participations in forums fall into the category of "contributed content to any site"? I understand that you are not able to provide personal responses to every application, however, I believe my question …

I would like to become an editor, however everytime I click the link in any category in the top right or at the bottom, it always comes up with a 500 Internal Server Error saying "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. ..." Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

While attempting to volunteer my services as an Editor to a specific small category I have discovered the "Become Editor" link is not available for this category. Can someone, Editor or other, explain why this link may not be available on certain categories. I can see it being reasonable on a huge category, but that was not the case here. There were less than 100 total listings. Also, I did search the forum before asking this question. I can't find anything indicating this link to not be available on particular categories. Perhaps I used the wrong key words, but I did give it a go before asking.

Hello. A few months ago I submitted an application and was accepted but wasn't able to log on. I tried to recover my password, but received the error, "Can't find your authentication ticket." http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Illinois/Metro_Areas/Quad_Cities/ I tried submitting another application, but received the error: "Thank you for your application to edit, however, you already have an editor account in the name of mtertipes. Although it appears you never used that account, only one login is allowed." (Through editing a Zeal I discovered it wasn't as easy as it looked. I decided to spend a few months gaining experience at other d…

Hi guys, I tried to apply for an editor position last Saturday and I got an email from dmoz saying that I have to reply it. So I replied and here's what I got: -- Subject: Re: opendir - 0772ac90322a13c812f0faf72d6ce7c1 Your Open Directory editor application could not be confirmed. The error received was: Can't find your authentication ticket -- So I tried to reply with only "opendir - 0772ac90322a13c812f0faf72d6ce7c1", "0772ac90322a13c812f0faf72d6ce7c1", and other variants, but without luck. Well, after reading the forums I read somewhere that maybe I should re-apply because maybe the application was lost. So, now I get this error after filling the…

Is there something I've done wrong during the application process? Thankfull for any help. Sverre.

I applied about a month ago to edit the following category: /Shopping/Publications/Digital/Fiction/ I believe I used the name "lsredford". Can someone give me a "heads up" on the status? This is not a complaint as I appreciate that DMOZ is a volunteer organization with limited resources. Thanks. L. Scott Redford

My name is Steven Moshlak and I applied for a position to edit a DMOZ category /site. In addition, I have been waiting patiently to be added to the DMOZ site, for well over 9 months (closer to a year). During this period, I noticed that there wasn't an editor for this category and my submission either fell through the cracks or is waiting on the staff to select an editor in my category to make changes. Based upon my skills, expertise and background, this position is a "fit." I realize that it is a lot easier to send out a "cookie-cut" rejection e-mail than it is to address and issue that is long overdue, namely, no editor, which results in no updates to the section …

I recently submitted an application to become an editor and shortly after, received an email asking me to verify my e-mail address. When I follow the verification link, I get an error that says "Not a valid key." I hope that this is not a crucial step in getting my application processed and would appreciate any assistance with this issue. Thank you, Trina Dinnar

Hi all, I applied to be an editor today (Jan 17) with the username jackbartleby in the category Shopping/Publications/Books/Family_and_Relationships/. When I clicked on the link in my verification email, I got the message "Not a valid key." Reading some other threads in this forum, it indicates that I can get that message if I click the link twice. However, I only clicked the link once, and when I go to log into my account, it gives me the error "User needs an email address verification before the user can log in." Could anyone check to see if my email address was in fact verified, or if there's something else that I can do to make sure the email address is verified…

Hi. I was recently denied in my application to become an editor. On the bottom of the denial notice, was "Reviewer Comments: Incomplete application- affiliations." I would like to reapply. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on properly filling out the affiliations section of the editor application?

Hi! Today I filled out an application to join editors team in some category. Just in couple of hours I recieved an official mail, where they recommended me to choose another category to edit, because my choice was "broader than we typically assign to a new editor". I was told to choose "categories with at least 15 sites (so that you can actively edit and gain experience) but fewer than 70-100 sites are good choices." Well... Unfortunately Russian "section" of Internet is still pretty poor, and there are many categories that count 0-5 sites at all. I hope I can try myself in editing several small categories at once to fulfil the terms "at least 15" and "fewer than 70…

I notice that some categories give the ID of the editor, others say "Volunteer to edit this category", and others say nothing at all. I can understand why an editor might not want to be identified on the page, but why does the call to volunteer message appear? According to a recent post, there are no categories without editors. The particular category I'm interested in has over 100 entries, but that message is what prompted me to send in an application. I thought help was needed, but the more I read this forum, perhaps not? Cliff

An earlier, closed, post had this comment: "we haven't received any new applications later than Dec 18." But a few days ago I checked on the status of my application, which was on January 28th, and was told it's still "awaiting evaluation." Do you have my application? (reg key: 1677630ed642ea9bd2d17a8fd0a571ed) Thanks, Peter
