Hello; I've been looking at the Catagory for one of Nexon/Kru's most successful MMORPG: http://dmoz.org/Games/Video_Games/Roleplaying/Massive_Multiplayer_Online/Dark_Ages/ And noticed many of the links are dead or not the links they say they are(Only 13 are listed). It really is an excellent game, and people looking for information will not find it in the DMOZ.org. I submitted some of the popular sites currently for the game. If some mod can spend a little time to clean up this Great MMORPG's Category it would be much appreciated (Mainly remove the dead links), and add the current information websites (submitted). Thanks. I remember suggesting some sites about…

Hello. Much of the content of a site is recipes gathered from other sources and compiled together with pictures, not much is unique at all. The site is listed 105 times in many categories, sometimes like 5 times in the same category. I suppose this website is owned by a DMOZ editor. The problem I have is that now this site is commercial, selling all kinds of products, with top rank due to so many DMOZ placements. It seems crazy for one commercial site to have 105 listings so I reported it using the abuse reporting tool, within 24 hours that case was closed, as I assume it was looked at. It's been about 10 days and the site is still listed 105 times. Is it possibl…

There is a site listed at http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Nevada/Localities/H/Henderson/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ With the title "Larry Green and Mike Blanchard - Century 21 Moneyworld" This site is advertising false affiliation with Century 21 in the title of DMOZ and on the website. If you visit the site and call the number provided on the home page they will tell you they are not affiliated with CENTURY 21. Please Remove this site from your directory as this a violation of trademark and advertising laws. Director of Technology CENTURY 21 MoneyWorld

I have a few questions. Has it even been discussed that there might be sub categories for regional real estate for actual agencies or agents? Also there is commercial and residential sub categories but what happens if you deal with both? Most realtors and agencies do. I am not sure how to make this area more information friendly. But I think joeant does a decent job. Lastly Lets say that John Smith works for ABC real estate and gets his site listed . Can ABC Real Estate then have their main company site added? One might say they are affiliated, but in reality agents own their own websites, and while they work for an agency they do 99% of their work out on their own. …

Hello All, I would like to get your valued opinion on whether or not you find it ethical/legal for large affiliates to be editors on Dmoz. I understand editors have a lot of influence over various websites and we have found a particular affiliate who has "way to many number one listings on Google to be considered normal." The particular affiliate/editor has reputed earnings of up to $100K per month as a result. Please excuse my ignorance here, but as an editor, does this give you the ability to manipulate your own listings on Google should you host multiple websites. Also, when a complaint is filed to Google Spam, is it managed by google itself of given to …

I was researching ODP today for the best place to submit a new site (actually a petition about a specific show) and as a result came across a link that brings up a request for a login/pwd .... As I recall, you don't want specific URLs posted here, so I'll just say it's the top link in this category maybe ... ? http://dmoz.org/Arts/Television/Programs/Dramas/Commander_in_Chief/

My site was not listed in my specific category, but I know the editor was active because he was adding his own sites. The beautiful part about this is that his site was stealing my content, from my RSS feed. I hardly see a reason for listing a site that steals content other than having a self-serving nature. Not only this, but also he had sites listed that were parked, forsale on Sedo, etc.. etc... I have filed the appropriate abuse form, but I wanted to get some feedback here if possible. Also, the editor is still in charge of the category, but he did remove my content from his site.

I'm just amazed, I try to be a good member of the dmoz community, and keep the directory organized, but no good deed goes unpunished. I requested a category change for a site of ours about a year ago. After over a month, rather than changing the category and updating the description, it was removed. Did the same thing about 2 months ago - requested the site be moved to a different category, because it was no longer relevent for the category it was in - completely removed. This goes to a generalization I've made many times elsewhere on other forums. DMOZ editors (at least in the categories I frequent) are lazy. #1 They rarely actually look to see if a site belong…

How do I get in touch with a category editor, as I believe I have valid concerns with regard to recent modifications made to a category our site is listed in. The change does not apply to our site specifically, but to most sites within the category. Specifically, the sites listed (including our own) are all listed with a geographic location appended to the description (Ours says "Ontario-based"). Since 90% of the listings in our category facilitate 99% of their business online and across borders, I don't see how geographic location would be applicable? Our physical website is located in Canada, but we have physical fulfillment and distribution channels across the USA …

In asking this question I suspect I know the answer but will ask anyway. If we know of a company that's using bad selling techniques and being dishonest in some way - and can prove it of course! - is there a mechanism within DMOZ to report them - i.e. where they are listed in DMOZ? Many thanks

Hello - My site was listed for a few years. I know we are not supposed to post URL's, but I don't know how to explain this situation without doing it. Please delete my post if I am stepping out of line. My site is <url removed>, but within the past year or so it was removed (or changed) in the directory. There is a site listed now, <url removed> that is very product driven and mostly points to another website. This site was listed around the time mine was taken away. I don't necessarily think that an editor is being self serving, but I think that this new site may have tricked an editor to update my listing with this new info (if that is possible). …

I've have tried my best to get our website listed into DMOZ for well over a year now. The category describes exactly what we do without a shadow of a doubt. I have left gaps between submissions of at least 2 months and in the first case over 6 months. The website ... has been submitted to Computers:Software:Bar Code. After the last attempt i noticed the option to apply as an editor was available. As I know a great deal about this subject I was hoping to make my knowledge available to the DMOZ project and help the current editors who are obviously struggling with all the submissions. My application was declined. Apart from the current editors not being able to cop…
