We noticed that the search results on dmoz.org are quite large and are returning related results when DMOZ do not find the exact match listed. For example, when we are looking for <url removed per forum tos>, (pending approval) we are seeing the competitor website. Question: I wonder for later, after being analyzed and eventually accepted in the DMOZ directory, who will show up first: the site we are looking for, or its competitor. As that category do not have an editor yet, we are prepared to wait several months maybe, to know the answer.

Hello everyone, I am sure anyone has mentioned it before. But, I think the whole category is useless and unnecessary. In my opinion, to be listed in "Online Archives", the site must have a searchable database or an index that links to all news articles. If the site doesn't provide that, ODP shouldn't build an index for the site. Thanks 1q1q1q

Hello, I am talking about this category. Most of the listings are from the two or three website. For example, Website Publisher has three PHP tutorials in their website and each tutorial has their own listing. I think the editor should list the php tutorial index. Or else, the category will finally become the index page of large tutorial websites. I notice similar thing in this category. Thanks

Hi, I'm the author/president/idiot in charge of the ****ty Blogs Club. I am thrilled that we are listed under "Worst of the Web," I couldn't agree more. But your description of the site says, "Humorous 'awards' given to weblogs the author deems to be of poor quality." There are a number of sites that do that, but this is not one of them. The site is just what it says it is, a club for bloggers whose blogs suck, and they not only know it, they are proud of it. We do give awards from time to time, but only to members based on their merits as members. A more appropriate description might be, "Club for losers who can't even blog well." I don't really care…

I tried to submit a change form for the listing but it insists the URL is not listed .. I tried twice with and without the trailing / . Category: Top : Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: Cambridgeshire: Ely: Business and Economy : Advertising and Marketing (1) listing for http://www.lightworkmarketing.com/: Light Work - Full service agency specialising in public transport. Profile, services and portfolio. I visited their site and they do state they design logos, web sites etc and one of their projects was for a transport company but they do not specialist in public transport.

Also says its linked in the corrosion category but doesn't appear in the listing when you view it.

Hey guys. I was recently refused an editor application (which is fine, especially as my category might have been a bit broad and not targeted enough). BUT... the person that shows as the category editor I know is no longer active in the community relevant to the niche. The last update to his own website was Jan 2005! I've submitted at least 3 websites on different occasions over the last few years and none have yet been added. I'd like to get some websites listed and don't really know where to start! Any help appreciated.

Hello, this is very important for editors in order to mantain quality. When I found the perfect category for my domain <removed URL> and made suggestion I found the following "dead websites". I submitted my website http://www.recipes4word.com in the summer of 2003. I resubmitted again in 2004, and most recently within the last week. The category is Writer's software. I can't find any reason why it would be rejected, and if so, why I wouldn't be informed. If you search for it on dmoz...zip, nada, nothing. I know there is a backlog...but years? Guidance would be appreciated. Confused

Editors and forum staff. Just wanted to say thank you to all the people at Dmoz who are doing a great job. I've spent hours reading about the ODP and read hundreds of posts in this forum. Well here is one post of a positive nature. I have suggested a great many sites to DMOZ over the years and the only ones that got rejected (with hindsight) needed rejecting. Only one site i suggested took a long time to be accepted, but finally was. Just about every site i have suggested in recent months has been accepted within a very short space of time. Some only a matter of days. It seems while reading this forum that you hard working guys get so much criticism and sometimes …

Hi, I am inquiring because the business I work for is listed on the site is listed twice, and both times in the wrong location. I was hoping to have that fixed. Location 1 and 2 are about halfway down the search page here (#9 and #12) Absolute Web Services. One of the posts lists us as being located in Deerfield Beach and the other Says Boca Raton. However, we are located in Miami. I appreciate any help you can offer in getting just one listing up there and having it attached to the correct location. Thank you very much! AprylV

I used DMOZ to add my url. To my surprise my URL appeared in Yahoo and other directories. After approximately 2 weeks my url disappeared from every directory and has been replaced with a similar URL name. I have a similar domain name to another company and I'm getting the feeling that this person may be an Editor. Is there anyway I can find out if this person is an Editor and or why I am being removed and or replaced with this other URL.

Hello,i was very happy when i got the news that my website been accepted the next day after i submitted it to the DMOZ. thank you very much and share my happiness here. after that i found a problem within the DMOZ.my web was accepted in the category :Top/World/Chinese Simplified/商业(business)/ 交通运输(transportation)/交通控制 (traffic control) (3) and the name of my website is "深圳市华美进实业发展有限公司" . Now the problem is the number of this category in Chinese Simplified is "3", but in other languages they show the category in Chinese Simplified is "2". this problem till now is about one month. Is that meaning my website just been accepted by the Chinese language not the globe? …

There is a catagory at Top: Regional: North America: United States: Business and Economy: Legal Services: Referral Services: Where there are 2 catagories below that start with "law offices of". Why are they there? Should they not be in there regioal catagorie like all the other lawyers. Every lawyer is a refferal service.
