The following website: http://www.queerposters.com is listed in the google directory under: http://directory.google.com/Top/Shopping/Niche/Gay,_Lesbian,_and_Bisexual/ Now I know the google directory results come from dmoz or am I mistaken? This site is purely an affiliate site - has hidden black text and links at the bottom of the pages and has pages and pages of nothing - yet it has a huge pagerank and is in the directory - how on earth did this site get where it is

Just browsing through the following category: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Asia/Thailand/Provinces/Phuket/Travel_and_Tourism/Lodging/Guides_and_Directories/ and found 3 of the 6 listed sites are affiliate sites. 1. Phuket Hotels Online is an affiliate of planetholiday.com 2. Phuket Resorts is affiliated with hotelthailand.com 3. Phuket Stay is affiliated with yourrooms.com And if it matters, the first entry is a mirror of phuket-hotel.net Obviously, there are hundreds more just like these, but thought you'd like to know about some of them as they surely have little unique content.

Hi Editors, I wondered that in the last year there are a lot of new Links to my former website fond by google. Then I fond out there are all related to dmoz. Unfortunally this site doesnt exists any more for quite a while. I had two website submitted almost year ago. None of them are included in the DMOZ category. Today after doin a research i found why.... Editor of both the category owns the website like me and don't include my website because they don't want to have competition. I know i have the read the thread here about "no such thing as competitiive website" But I think they are banning me for selfish and avoid competition even though my website has more content and info. I have spent the last two or three hours reading over threads in most catagories, and to my amazement, have found something which I am guilty of being repeated over and over again. The same questions are being asked loads of times a day, soliciting the same responses. I asked some of these questions and I thought that the Moderators were somewhat rude in their responses. Hello All, I would like to get your valued opinion on whether or not you find it ethical/legal for large affiliates to be editors on Dmoz. I understand editors have a lot of influence over various websites and we have found a particular affiliate who has "way to many number one listings on Google to be considered normal." The particular affiliate/editor has reputed earnings of up to $100K per month as a result. Are duplicate URLs in a topic abuse? If so DMOZ is absolutely littered with them. Why can't the database and/or program include this as a basic check? I could give hundreds of examples (these were found examining the first 5000 categories out of 350000), but here, for those who don't believe me, I give half-a-dozen. Sometimes I am sure it is an attempt at spamming (succesful it seems). Sometimes it may just be over-busy editors, with over-large categories, probably bambouzled by spam attempts (succesful it seems). Hi, My site is listed in DMOZ and the info that was entered by the editor shows up in Google searches. The information is inaccurate and badly punctuated and reflects badly on my site. When I try to 'update URL' in the category it is apparently listed under I get the 'this site is not listed under this category' message. What can I do?
