Hello dmoz, Take a look at a very good example of using a mouseover technique to fool search engines into high ranking. http://www.asiwebpage.com/hydrocarbon_analyzers_b.html rank #1 on google http://www.asiwebpage.com/hydrocarbon_analyzers_c.html rank #2 on google The technique uses a page (or pages) stuffed with key words as an entry point to a website that seach engines index and rank very highly. The page is indexed and when the visitor places his mouse on any part of the entry window or scroll bar the mouseover function redirects the visitor to the target website which could be "anything". This technique uses ascii escape sequence to mask the address of t…

Hello, It is my understanding that the website for ZAP World is in two different categories. The first is electric vehicles, the second is electric scooters. The only reason I am reporting this is because I was curious in the site submission status forum about multiple searches and an editor suggested to report my concerns. Thanks, EVNRGMAN http://www.electrictransport.net trying to get into the electric vehicles category

What i should do? It's so unfair spending money and time for a website and get rejected because the editor considers you as a competitor. I've used the abuse report form but nothing happened. Never got a reply from someone else, only from the editor.

Hello there, can anyone please change the description of my website? The DMOZ-description can be found under the link to my website at Google, if you type "Jendrik de Ruvo". It goes: "The DJ und producer from Flensburg gives an overview of remixes and releases. Words from the press are published." I don't live in Flensburg and besides that: I want Google to show my personal information/text that I added into the Meta in the HTML-document. Please change it into the ORIGINAL Meta (as it was online some few months ago): "description" content="Jendrik de Ruvo - DJ and producer of electronic dance music from Germany. Acts: Nicci Versaci, J.Ru, Wavepush…

Hi, I submitted a very clear case of conflict of interest and possible abuse many months ago, and it continues to be listed as new. I don't care about the outcome of the case - all I have ever wanted was another editor to make a fair editorial judgement about my companies website in comparison with other sites in that category. I am willing to put in 1-2 more months of waiting as I understand the nature of a voluntary organization takes more time. However the day will come when I give up on this system and put all of the information I have into a website. It will not reflect well upon the organization and raises many questions, especially when coupled with the relat…

Hello! I was looking through a relatively small section of the gambling category and discovered that the top listed site and the majority of others were simply affiliate marketing sites. I double checked the ODP guidelines and it says that if you ignore the affiliate marketing and there is still unique and non-copied useful content, then it should be included. The majority of these sites are made up entirely of affiliate marketing with little to no content, let alone unique content, and the category actually has an editor. Maybe he hasn't cleaned up the category because he hasn't gotten around to it, but I'm trying to figure out why these sites are in the ODP in the firs…

How do I get in touch with a category editor, as I believe I have valid concerns with regard to recent modifications made to a category our site is listed in. The change does not apply to our site specifically, but to most sites within the category. Specifically, the sites listed (including our own) are all listed with a geographic location appended to the description (Ours says "Ontario-based"). Since 90% of the listings in our category facilitate 99% of their business online and across borders, I don't see how geographic location would be applicable? Our physical website is located in Canada, but we have physical fulfillment and distribution channels across the USA …

Hi everyone. I'm a little new to all this, but from researching about search engines and all I find that dmoz has become EXTREMELY important to people and search engines. I also realize that it is also a little bit unfair. Yes, I understand the "generousity" and time it takes to put something like this together. I appreciate it even though my sites are not listed yet. I am a patient person and I am appreciative. So short and sweet before the idea escapes my mind. How about having it easier to become an editor BUT have a requirement of reviewing 10? 20? sites before being able to add their own site? HOWEVER, they can in fact add their site. Just ONE. Or an…

A local competitor of mine decided to copy my meta tag source code verbatim, as well as much of my text on my homepage. Worried about being thrown off the search engines for a mirrored site (she is now enjoying number one placement in many searches so she is being reindexed daily by Google), I was forced to change my meta tag source codes and text. This person is listed in the ODP, while I am still trying to find out my status. Now this unscrupulous person is spamming by placing the same keyword on the homepage of her site over 136 times, yet she still remains in the top position. What can I do about this? Is this person breaking the rules? (Besides being a criminal) Sh…

I was attempting to reach out to a couple of category editors and when I try to fill out the form, I get a Proxy Error (the proxy server could not handle the request). I've tried it from two different computers on different networks and get the same error. And I get the same error while trying to reach two different editors. Temporary problem, or something else? Please let me know and thanks for your help!

Is it possible to talk to a live person at dmoz? Here's my problem. I have been listed under web templates for about 4 years. Last Nov-Dec I noticed my listed was deleted. I contacted the editor ([snip]) and they told me to not bother to list my website because it was "an affiliate site". I know that this person did not look at my site because I have 1050+ of my own web templates for sale. I do have template monster templates on my site. Still, my content is unique and is one of the larger web template sites. I feel this was editor abuse because while my site was deleted the following sites remained: http://www.buydezign.com/ - no templates, forwards to another …

So it has been almost 2 years now since I first submitted my site to Dmoz.org. Specifically, I submitted my site to the Dating International section in early 2006 when my site first launched. I wasn't expecting an immediate inclusion, nor any inclusion at all for that matter - it was a young site, but a quality and worthwhile one - certainly not a 1 page wonder. After 6 months and no inclusion, I went back to my site to see if it needed improving to a certain standard. I did that, and in the process it improved and gained almost 20,000 new members. So I submited again. After another 6 months, I asked for help and was told to re-submit again as Dmoz had server …

The four MAPS listings are no longer accurate. (June, 2005) None of the described information is available. They are redirects. Blacklist of Internet Advertisers http://www.non.com/news.answers/advertisers-blacklist.html "Last-modified: 15 Nov 1995 06:03:54 +0100" Not one of the listings remains applicable. http://www.cluelessmailers.org/ Last Updated 4/19/03 The Spamware Vendor List (spamsites.org) has not been active in some time: "Why is spamsites.org not being updated regularly?"
