Category: Shopping > Clothing > Casual > T-Shirts > Humor There is no moderator, editor applications are disabled for the category, and many of the old links don't even have sites on them anymore - they are redirecting to irrelevant pages, error messages and parked domains. Can someone please consider getting around to editing this page, removing all the dead links, and adding my site. I've probably been trying to get listed for about 3 years now. I was previously listed on DMOZ but had to change URL after the free host removed my site. Email me for the link.

Hello, First of all, I would like to thank everyone at dmoz for their time that they invest into this service. I represent the 4th largest political party in the United Kingdom. The British National Party - www.bnp.org.uk We are officially recognised by the electoral commission as Britain's 4th largest political party. Sadly, there are many political opponents of ours, that play games, subvert and do their best to cause us all manner of logistical problems, including misrepresenting what we actually stand for and our what our policies actually are. Issues that we wish to raise 1) There are over 30 political parties listed on the main UK political par…

I am an ODP editor who is also trying to get my site accepted in the ODP (in a totally different category in which I edit). I have asked people who visit and use my site to provide me with their feedback. I have read though several feedback emails and have found (over the past few months alone) 3 emails in which people have said that they submitted my site to the ODP. I thought they submitted the site because they liked it. However after reading the statement below, it appears they submitted the site because they didn't like and therefore don't want to see it listed in the ODP. "Please only submit a URL to the Open Directory once. Again, multiple submissions of…

At Genesis Publications we are thrilled to have our website listed on the DMOZ directory. For the past 35 years Genesis has published limited edition books primarily about art, music & photography (a few sports & historical titles too). At present, the website appears in the "Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Publishing" category. Genesis has not published books about business or economics, so the Genesis listing would be better suited for, say, the "Business: Publishing and Printing: Publishing: Books: Arts" section. How do we go about suggesting this to the editors at DMOZ? The listing is great, it is just a case of positioning. …

Hi, My site is listed in DMOZ and the info that was entered by the editor shows up in Google searches. The information is inaccurate and badly punctuated and reflects badly on my site. When I try to 'update URL' in the category it is apparently listed under I get the 'this site is not listed under this category' message. What can I do?

Under Top: Arts: Performing Arts: Dance: Folk Dancing the subcategory Aztec@ points to Mexican (ie Top: Arts: Performing Arts: Dance: Folk Dancing: Mexican is reached through both links). I see that there is an '@' next to Aztec - does that mean its being dealt with? Thanks

Having been an editor for about 3 months I tried to log on today and was told my site was deactivated. eh? I know nobody here can give me information on why but I just want to express by bad feelings towards the DMOZ staff who decided upon this. After all I inherited a category which needed alot of work done to it, I spent quite alot of time going through it and editing it at best I could. To be chucked out like a piece of trash I think is very very unfair. Especially when you see some categories which are blatantly being abused. After a couple of months I went to the forum to get my category checked to see if was editing correctly, guess what? nobody replied. …

Hi Why hasnt anything happend? The abuse report key is: e63956f9b4a101f45f812a128ebe3598 this was my email to dmoz as well Hi I would like to point out that a firm is editing all categories under the below listing: [category deleted] They are only adding their clients. The company controlling these categories is called [company deleted] If you look in this category for examle: [category deleted] You will see that [listings deleted] all have [deleted] at the bottom of the website in this category alone Then look at the rest of the categories for [the area] in total there are nearly 1200 websites with [deleted] at the bottom (f…

The following sites are listed twice in the same category because one redirects to the other: CATEGORY: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Windows/Window_Coverings/Blinds/ SITES: Blinds Wholesale http://www.blindswholesale.com/ LA Blinds http://www.lablinds.com/ According to what I have read, this is abuse. But is it abuse when the same company has "sister" sites selling the same products on a site with a different url and design? example: The same owner (Blinds Acquisitions according to the registrar) has a third site in the same category called No Brainer Blinds and Shades (http://www.nobrainerblinds.com/). Is this abuse, or a good way to boost y…

Hi, I noticed a competitor of ours be listed in numerous categories (5), when at most they could be listed in the main category and then the category for their blog. They are being listed in categories having to do with different products they sell, and from reading http://www.dmoz.org/help/cats.html - "For example, if you have a site selling tickets for concerts, football games, and amusement parks, the site would not be placed in all three categories." this is not allowed, but it is what is happening. And some of their descriptions talk about fast shipping and large inventory, which seem to be more marketing-like descriptions than something that belongs in DMOZ. …

I received the following this afternoon. I suspect the 24-7 folk scraped addresses from the dmoz site submission status discussion (I just love it when people say "this isn't spam".... I'm curious to know if anyone else received it. If so, I'll report it to the appropriate ISPs. -------------------------- I noticed your message on DMOZ today, regarding your site submission status, and was just going to let you know if you are looking for exposure, you may also be interested in registering with http://www.24-7shoppingmall.com directory. I know it can take awhile to get listed with DMOZ. I think the 24-7shoppingmall.com directory is also a human edited dire…

Hi, I am a travel profesional in Greece, having a small but broad - in terms of topics covered - travel guide for a region that is online and listed appropriately on ODP for the last 2-3 years. I post here in order to share your opinion about the latest phenomenon of travel professionals/companies that develop and submit to ODP different domains for specific travel related topics. Generally I think there are 3 alternatives: 1. Develop a general travel guide website about a broad region or even country that will include information and services about rent a car, hotels, vacations, food, shopping etc. that cover all the localities of that region or country. 2…

Hi there I recently tryed to get my site listed on this section of your directory Top: Computers: Internet: Chat: Web-Based: Chat Rooms (55) Since my site hasnt been listed im assuming that my site wasnt good enough <url removed> to get into this category, so i thought i would go thru the sites in this category to see what im up against, unfortunatly i was pretty shocked with some of the sites that are on this section. The category seems to out of date, and full of sites with no safety advice and sites with little quality, i tryed to contact the editor of this section to give my thoughts on the offending sites, somone from digital point has pointed me t…

Site removed to take personal "revenge"
by Guest megacool- 7 replies

My site has been in the ODP since the past 6 months or so. The editor of the category visited the forum on my site and started spamming against the clear written forum charter and guidelines. I asked him very nicely, to please stop spamming and deleted the specific post in question. But he continued spamming each section of my forum. Ultimately, left with no choice I had to ban him from my forum. Now as a revenge towards me, he removed my site from the category. My site is one of the best sites on the subject, if not the only best one. In addition to this unethical move by the editor there is something else I would like to bring to ODP's attention. The editor has l…

Hello ODP community. Lilly here. I'm a newbie. :-) My apologies if I'm not properly detailing a dead URL/website in this post. If there is a proper way please let me know as I'd like to help out. Here's a first try: Category: http://www.dmoz.org/Reference/Education/Colleges_and_Universities/College_Life/ Dead Listing Title: eGrad Dead Listing URL: http://www.egrad.com DETAILS: URL landing page reads "remodeling" and links to a loan website. An archive.org search reveals the website has been "remodeling" since December 2007, see: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.egrad.com

Hi, To make Dmoz good you guys should receive more applications for categories rather than showing no space for editors, it will help in quality submissions which are in queue. I guess you guys wont accept any suggestions!!!
