Dear Sir or Madam, Hopefully somebody can be of assistance. Yesterday, I sent a request to update a listing, as my web domain name has changed. I still own the old domain and will continue to use if for email purposes, though the web site has moved to the new domain name. Besides the domain name change nothing else has changed in relation to the site of content. Today I noticed that my business is now listed twice and just thought that I should make someone aware. Kind regards Terry

I tried reporting abuse at http://editors.dmoz.org/public/abuse as suggested but it will not go through. All of the information is filled out, after clicking Submit Report the next page shows a GO BACK link and that's it. There is no Report ID given which tells me the complaint has not been filed. I posted our complaint in this post here: http://www.resource-zone.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53575 How can I successfully submit this report? Thank you in advance.

The two last entries in the BSD category are invalid. The BSDs: Sophisticated, Powerful, and (Mostly) Free - Historical overview of the operating systems. [ExtremeTech] (September 26, 2002) ZDNet: Enterprise: BSD to leapfrog Linux? - BSD is gaining ground fast as publicity efforts and Apple's Mac OS X take off. (November 29, 2000) Nothing on either of the sites listed references BSD directly.

Hidden text on websites really irritates me. Is it reason for exclusion? If so check this site out - http://www.daoreal.com/ in category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Bulgaria/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/

We listed with DMOZ back in 2003 or thereabouts and everything was fine, we thought it was a done deal, no need to check back ever. Now I find that our site is not listed anymore, in any category. This completely baffles me because our site has never been down or offline in the last 8 years, we make hand tools so this can't be objectionable, and we were in the correct category all along, and our web site has not been revised since we originally listed. What can I do to find out why we were removed from DMOZ and how we can contest the issue and get re-listed properly. For all of the above reasons I cannot for the life of me understand why our listing would be removed. P…

It was suggested I post a message here after posting a message in another forum. I have noticed that in recent weeks a link to my business has been removed from Business/Financial_Services/Freelancer-Contractor_Services/United_Kingdom/. I was wondering whether there was any particular reason for this as no changes have been made to the website and the business continues to provide an umbrella payroll service for IT contractors. I've operated the business with my business partner for a number of years and provide a similar service to the other sites which continue to be listed. I did send a message to the editor, but received no reply. I appreciate fully there is no…

Considering the state of the economy, providing modern day resources for saving money should be considered greater than the zero priority ODP has given it by ignoring it completely for years. http://www.dmoz.org/Home/Homemaking/Frugality/Coupons/ The top link in this directory hasn't even updated it's home page in more than 2 years. The rest scream out "this is so 1990's". I applied years ago to be an editor for this category since I know the space well (wouldn't need to filter through thousands of site requests in order to improve it), but it's clearly off the radar, or (putting on the tin foil hat) being intentionally locked down perhaps for the benefit of one…

Hi Editors, I wondered that in the last year there are a lot of new Links to my former website fond by google. Then I fond out there are all related to dmoz. Unfortunally this site doesnt exists any more for quite a while. In dmoz the site is listed in 2 catagories: World: Deutsch: Computer: Software: Grafik: 3D: Firmen: Visualisierung World: Deutsch: Computer: CAD und CAM: Bauwesen: Dienstleistungen: Visualisierung The related url is: architektur-agentur.de It would be nice if the entrys could be deleted before even more pagelister use this dead link from dmoz. Thanks.

My sites have been running for two and a half years and have been listed in DMOZ for over 2 year, and have remained the same sites for that period, providing the same service and then all of a sudden they BOTH are gone? I can't help but feel that something is up? What can I do about this - I don't want to resubmit my sites and wait 3 years for them to be added, and I'd like an explanation as to why they were removed. So what can I do?

Hi Just one question... I keep a running count of links that are reported dead. Before I do that, I put them in my DNS cache and perform random lookup (different DNS(s)) for the first 28 days. After I try to connect for 21 more days, 4 times a day. The last week I go back to 8 random DNS checks. After that I remove them from the cache. Now I do this because I don't want to kill any user reported dead listings that may be because of the users name servers not finding the site.So how should I report these, I have over 40,000, that have been unresponsive for 60 days, and over 90,000, that have been unresponsive for over 90 days. I have them in this format, but I …

Hi, 2 Things: 1. I assume you know this already, but in case you don't the "update listing" link is broken - it kicks users to a 500 Internal Server Error page. I tested in 2 different categories. 2. I discovered this when trying to notify DMOZ that our site was hacked and we were moving it to fix the problem. The site was subsequently removed (yesterday). What is the process for getting a site re-listed? <site details removed> Thanks! -David

I have seen numerous times this scenario?? So that is why I say this flaw must be fixed: <br>A webmaster submits a site, filled with pop ups, spam and only affiliate links.. The site gets reviewed by an editor and deleted as per guidelines. The offending webmaster complains but before doing so CHANGES their SPAM site. They take away the pop ups, add content pages that were not there and so on.... There are many variations of this scenario but you should get the idea from it. I personally now believe that it is why there is such a backlog of sites. Granted there are valid complaints about subjective things.. but the truth is not somewhere in the middle. Sites that a…

There is a site listed at http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Nevada/Localities/H/Henderson/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ With the title "Larry Green and Mike Blanchard - Century 21 Moneyworld" This site is advertising false affiliation with Century 21 in the title of DMOZ and on the website. While going through the guidelines for other reasons, I came across: (emphasis mine) Given that this is completely contrary to the advice given here, and given that editors are generally advised to ignore all incoming e-mail, don't you think that a guidelines revision is in order?
