Re: Site was listed a few weeks ago, now it's gone? It was removed for being a fraternal mirror to http://www.iinfosearch.com/. It is the policy of ODP to not list mirrors, as it is not unique content. Please see http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude Sorry <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

You aren't banned, don't worry. It takes more than 2 submissions to cause us to cry spam. The site should be submitted to the one best place, and not to several. This really isn't my area and I only had a moment here to look, but it appears to me that you are offering services and the first category mentioned is a better fit. Regardless, Society/Relationships/Divorce also does not show http://www.helpyourselfdivorce.com in the queue. Are you sure it was ODP you submitted to? I would resubmit to the one most appropriate place.

Please wait a month before asking again, you are welcome to inquire after 4/21. Thanks <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />

All we can do is ask that you try to be patient. There is a large queue of around 300 sites waiting for review. Your site is still waiting in that queue, and it is likely to take awhile longer to be listed. Sorry to not be able to offer better news.
-
Your site is not waiting in that queue, nor has it been denied or moved. I also looked in http://dmoz.org/Society/Law/Services/Paralegal_Services/ and did not find it there either. If that is definately where you submitted, it appears there was an error. I would go ahead and resubmit.

Re: Thanks koko Yikes, just noticed motsa caught what I didn't--from now please us the other thread listed above <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Re: Thanks koko I have very limited understanding on this, all I know is what I've read in posts by others--so I could be incorrect in some of what I am going to say (any other editor, please feel free to jump in). ODP is spammed with thousands of sites daily, I imagine this is much like the spam that would go to a hotmail box. I picture this as get rich quick schemes being sent to say Shopping/Gifts/Gift_Baskets for example. If you have a hotmail account, however, you will notice that 95% of the time it filters out the correct spam. However, you can look into that spam box and occasionally you'll find an email that you actually wanted that is legit but ended up there by mistake. I imagine this is one of these cases. There are around 10 other sites waiting in that category right now, likely the editor will sort by date. It should be sent there soon, and the plus side is that the original date stays there on your original submission. I can see by the editor notes that they were working on it, so it should be sent there soon. <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />
-
Your last sentance is not necessary. It appears nothing is going to satisfy you unless you get what you want and that is not possible. None of us can give you what you want because it is exactly the opposite of what our guidelines tell us we can do. You are selling the same products that are coming in on hundreds of ezdropship.com affiliates--it is not unique content and it will not be listed. Period, case closed.

please provide a clickable link to where you submitted the site.

Sites should not be submitted to a category just because the wait may or may not be as long. It should be submitted to the one best category that applies to the site. Otherwise...it just takes time to move the site to where it belongs. The only exception would be if you have a brick and mortar store, you are welcome to submit to the most appropriately regional category for a second listing. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Re: http://www.learmedia.ca Your site is not waiting in that category. It appears it was caught by the filter and is in the process of being moved to the appropriate category. There is no need to resubmit, it should be moved shortly.

<<<My question for you is this If someone sells JVC Camera, which is being sold by many stores, does that mean you will not list that person's site? If your answer is No then how come you have listed so many stores which sell these cameras. If you would like I can give you the links. Please do not discriminate!>>> It isn't one camera alone that is making your site non-unique. Having one product found on other sites isn't the problem. For that same reason, finding me a bunch of sites selling that same camera isn't going to zap their listing either. No one is discriminating against anyone. An editor looks at a site and decides....does the bulk of content appear unique to me? If so, and if the site meets specific shopping criteria such as prices and a way to purchase, the site is listed. Later on, say that same editor notices more of the same group of products coming in on other sites as well. That editor then decides, well...those products are well represented here already. Adding more of the same isn't going to bring anything to this area of the ODP--no need to add this site since it is available on lots of others and has nothing new to bring. That site is then denied a listing. This is clearly stated in ODP guidelines: http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#include If sites were listed earlier and content was unique then is it fair to remove those listings because a large group of people now want to add sites to the directory that offer the same product content? I don't believe that it is. The problem is not the specific product, but rather seeing that same product repeated over and over again. If some have gotten through and repeat within a specific category it will eventually be caught. There isn't enough people or time to go through each category regularily and compare each product someone sells to be sure it is still unique. We do try to compare, but can't take things site by site and spend hours evaluating each product. Huge number of submissions come in each day, we would never get to those if all we did was constantly evaluate what is listed. So, as I said before...if you see sites where the bulk of the content is repeated feel free to send me feedback with the urls (do not list them here) at the link I already provided and I will check into it. I don't know how to state this more simply than that. No one is being unfair or discriminating at all. We are simply doing what is asked of us, and denying sites that we are aware has non-unique content.

There is no point in arguing about whether or not you are getting your products from ezdropship.com. It doesn't make any differeince if you are getting products from them or if maybe you are getting them from someone else who is getting them from them, etc. The truth is, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that you have the same products/many of the same products they sell. To be listed in the ODP your site has to be evaluated to determine it contains unique content. Your content isn't unique and doesn't warrant being listed. Period.

__________________________________________________________ I also have a computer section which I will be updating soon. And the computers that I am going to be selling have nothing to do with dropshipping. The question I wanted to ask you is does that mean for every person that has something like someone else, you wont add the site? ____________________________________________________________ We look for unique content. If you have a bunch of item X which is everywhere, and a little of item Z which is not found everywhere then the majority of your content is still not unique. It really does depend. Also, you won't find an editor spending 3 hours comparing a bunch of sites to see if a few of your products are indeed unique. __________________________________________________________ Another question I have is, why was my site listed in your database for a like a week then removed ___________________________________________________________ It was listed...the editor who listed it emailed me to ask if I could verify that it was an affiliate and I couldn't. I then ran into several other sites with the same content which led me to realize your content wasn't unique. It was then I who removed your listing for lack of unique content. There are many variables, and we try to not list sites selling non-unique content. Because we are human, sometimes it does happen and as soon as we are aware that is corrected--such as the case was with your site. Also, in the case of ezdropship.com it isn't just a few sites either...it is a LOT of sites. If products such as yours is what you are speaking of and you are aware of some sites listed, by all means email me the urls and I will check into it.
-
In order to be listed you must offer unique content. The products you sell are on a large number of other sites and which are turned down for the same reason--offering nothing unique. There is nothing we can do, sorry.

In regards to shopping, site is in a smallish queue of around 30 sites <img src="/images/icons/tongue.gif" alt="" />

The link you gave is NOT a clickable link to the category you submitted it, it is a clickable link to a forum discussion where your site came up. Several editors visited your site when it was noticed that much of your content was duplicated on several other unrelated sites. Your site is an affiliate of http://www.ezdropship.com/ and cannot be listed as it does not contain unique content.

There is no way to gage the time it takes for a site to be reviewed based on whether or not there is an editor listed. Some editors are more active than others, and there is always someone who can access a cat even if there is no editor listed. Submitting to another category isn't usually an option because the site should be submitted to the one best category. The exception to that is another listing in regional if the site qualifies. Your submission is currently waiting in a queue of around 75 sites. Do not resubmit again, if the editor sorts sites by submission date resubmitting sends your site to the end of the line as it rewrites your original submission. Your submission date in this category is 21/Oct/2002.

DMOZ does not list mirror sites, and http://www.ibolt-eai.com/ is a mirror to http://www.magicsoftware.com which is listed in Computers: Programming: Application Builders: Magic.

Re: status on http://www.wi-fitechnology.com/ We are volunteer editors, and do our best to get to submissions in a timely fashion. We do also all have jobs, families, and other interests. I imagine if I had to pay to have my site listed in Looksmart then a concrete turnaround is fair. If I want a free listing in DMOZ which then gets me in other search engines, that is something different. I can understand your frustration that new submissions are overriding old but the reason for that is simple. Some pleople continually resubmit sites--which then increases the time others wait to have their site submitted because someone would have to take the time to go through and manually sort out all of those duplicate submissions leaving only one in unreviewed. That then takes up editor time instead of being able to evaluate and list sites. By overriding duplicate submissions it decreases the amount of needless time spent deleting all those duplicate submissions.

which shopping category? Please provide a clickable link.

Shows "Last update: 12:32 PT, Thursday, March 27, 2003 - edit" apparently public side isn't showing yet, site was added on March 30 so the information you pasted is outdated. I was looking at the editor site which shows it listed. Sorry, DMOZ has been having some server problems--should be updated soon for all to see.

Google does use DMOZ data, but Google is not DMOZ. Your site is listed at http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Ethnic_and_Regional/Asian/Indian/. Because DMOZ is a directory and not a search engine, you won't find it by searching for your site. In addition, your site was just listed, and would not have had time to be included in Google's use of DMOZ data. <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Is in the works under root url of http://www.nocorrosion.com/ in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Home_Improvement/Paint_and_Sundries as site appears to be a valid shopping site as opposed to a business site. [edited to add] current queue in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Home_Improvement/Paint_and_Sundries/ shows around 20 sites waiting review. Your site would be listed at the root url as this url is valid, as opposed to the deeplink originally submitted.

Your site was moved from Computers/Internet/Web_Design_and_Development/Designers to Computers/Consultants and deleted from Computers/Consultants/Unix_Systems/Linux/North_America as it was in the works in what was deemed a more appropriate place. Clickable link is http://dmoz.org/Computers/Consultants/. There is a large queue in that category of around 700 sites currently waiting review.
