Please don't ask about the status of a website in multiple threads. For any further status requests, please use your Site Submission Status Forum thread.
-
There wasn't any confusion on my part. Your "second store" isn't going to be listed because your "other" store already is.
-
Yes, you're still waiting, and the category is still very backlogged. You can ask again after at least a month, but with this kind of backlog, you'll probably have to be patient. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you.
-
Ourcornermarket.com is already listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Accessories/ . We aren't going to give a shop a listing in a subcategory of a category it is already listed in.
-
If you submitted from the same computer, it most likely also got caught by the spam filter and is in the processing area (the filter gets set off by certain configurations). As long as you got the second message (the one that said there was no need to resubmit), there is no need to resubmit.
-
Yes, your page was submitted. The second message means that it was caught by our spam filters, and sent to a processing area. Don't worry, we know that a lot of non-spam submissions get caught by the filters, and we look at all of the submissions. Your site will be processed and sent to the correct category. There is no need to resubmit (though I admit that page is confusing). Please feel free to check on your site's status after at least a month (re-using this thread).

>>I swear it wasn't before I posted...<< Yep, you're right, it wasn't. Eventually, though, the wheels turn...

Please wait at least a month since your submission, or since your last status update (as requested in the forum guidelines), and then post a request in the original thread. Someone will answer you then. Thanks!

Good catch motsa! I didn't look at the site too closely -- just saw the prominent "Melbourne" -- which is why I said "perhaps" when mentioning Melbourne.
-
You would probably have received a quicker response if you had provided a clickable link to the category in question: http://dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Photography/Photographers/Wedding_and_Events/Oceania/Australia I don't see your site in that category, nor is there any evidence that your site was moved or deleted. What kind of message did you get when you tried to submit? Incidentally, you would also be eligible for a Regional/ branch listing in your locality. Perhaps Melbourne?

Your site is listed.

Awaiting review in a small pool of fewer than 10 sites. However, the Antiques_and_Collectibles area has quite a backlog in general, so it could be a while.
-
Sure. Thanks for waiting! Unfortunately, your submission was caught by our spam-filter, and is in the process of being sorted out. Don't worry though -- we know that the filter catches quite a few normal, non-spam submissions, so we make sure to look at them all. Your submission will make its way to the correct category, and will then be reviewed. The category has quite a large backlog, though (more than 175 sites), so it may take a while.

First, as the forum guidelines request, please wait at least a month before requesting site status. Your site was submitted today, so please feel free to come back after May, 7, 2003. It would also be better if you confine your status requests to one thread, either here, or if you feel more comfortable in Italian, in this thread where you posted your other request. Finally, if you reuse this thread, a clickable link to the ODP category (we are not Google) is: http://dmoz.org/Business/Textiles_and_Nonwovens/Textiles/Fabrics/Mixed_Blends/Europe/Italy/ . Thank you.

I think that John gave you some good advice. >>There is actually a backlog of 30 websites in this category.<< Well, then there are likely more than 3 sites out there that could be added to the ODP (assuming they aren't all missubmissions and spam). >>I thought google uses the dmoz? If I find a site on there, won't it already be in the dmoz?<< The Google Directory is taken from ODP data. However, the Google search engine indexes far more sites than the ODP lists. Also as John suggested, Google isn't the only search engine on the web. There are others that have different degrees of overlap with the ODP (e.g. Fast, Altavista, and Teoma just to name a few). And for a specific category like this, John's suggestion of following links from other sites is one that I personally often find extremely useful. There's a lot more to editing than just clearing backlogs of submitted sites. Editors are also expected to search the web to find new sites for their categories. Finding three sites, and writing good (though not necessarily perfect) descriptions for them, is an important part of showing what kind of editor you would be.

[Edited to remove duplicate information] Darn fast dfy! [/Edited]

That's entirely up to you, since an editor should look at the current description and re-review the site when they see your request. However, an editor might be even more likely to make that effort if your description was closer to our guidelines and less keyword-stuffed. With a better description, you might also find that the editor included more of what was important to you, because it was more clear to them. Of course it also might not change anything at all about what the editor does. If you decide to resubmit, you might first want to have a look at http://dmoz.org/guidelines/describing.html#descriptions . Briefly, a description should concisely describe the company and the site contents. It shouldn't be stuffed with keywords, and it shouldn't use unnecessary capital letters.
-
Awaiting review with over 150 sites. As an aside, your description doesn't even come close to meeting our guidelines -- it's just a list of (capitalized) keywords. I can guarantee that it will not be accepted as submitted. However, the current description isn't up to current standards either, so I left your request in the queue for another editor with more experience in that area to review.
-
I'm checking on the status for you -- it may take a short time. I should have more information soon.
-
You're welcome. If you do look into becoming an editor (and I would encourage you to do so -- we can always use good people), I'd suggest applying for a different category. With so many unreviewed sites, it seems unlikely that a new editor would be granted permissions there (though I'm not a meta, so I can't say for certain). You would be better off finding a smaller category (say a hobby, a personal interest, your hometown -- or a subcategory of your hometown). Edit there for a while, see if you like it (it doesn't have to be a huge time commitment), and after you get some experience, you will be much more likely to get permission to edit in a more backlogged area.
-
I only see one. If you submitted multiple times, the new ones overwrote the older ones. There is no need to resubmit. However, I notice that you are located in Farmington, CT. You might want to apply for a Regional listing in their Computers subcategory. A Regional listing should be entirely separate from your Topical category listing, and should not affect your other submission. The backlog in that category is somewhat smaller (0).
-
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the economy, this category gets a lot of submissions. Your site is awaiting review with several hundred others. I think it will likely be a while before it is reviewed. Just as an aside, I might not list it in its current state (though I'm highly unlikely to be the person who reviews it). You have only a small handful of job listings, which isn't exactly a lot of content as viewed by the ODP. On the bright side, you can work on increasing the number of postings while you're waiting.
-
I'm afraid that category has a large pool of unreviewed sites. It is waiting with a couple hundred others. Sorry. Please feel free to check again after at least a month, and please reuse this thread if you do.
-
Yep, you're still waiting with more than 30 others, and the area is still backlogged. As for the rejection, I have no idea and no way to get any more information (I'm not a meta). However, reading the posts in the "Becoming an Editor" forum might give you some clues about common reasons for rejection (I don't know if any of them would apply to you). You could also post there if you had a specific question about your application.
-
I'd say that's where it belongs, too. And a submission, dated today, is sitting in the unreviewed pool in that category. An earlier submission to the less-appropriate http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Boating/Personal_Pages has been removed. Otherwise, there is no record that your site has been reviewed. As has been discussed in many threads, you shouldn't be at all concerned that there is no listed editor on a category. No category is without an editor. A category can be edited by any editors with permissions in categories above it, and there are many editors (editall, meta) who can edit in the whole directory. Just be patient, and your site will be reviewed. Please feel free to check the status of your after at least a month, and please reuse this thread when you do.
