1. Sites aren't listed in Regional by where their clients are but by where the company is physically located. So it will only get a listing in Waunakee in Regional. RE: searching - it takes time for listed sites to turn up in Google searches (there are other threads here and in various SEO forums that can give you more information about how and when).
2. I agree with dalguard. As nothing but a directory of affiliate links, the site doesn't have enough unique content to warrant listing.
3. The site has been listed in Waunakee, which is where the business is located, for several weeks. In the future, only submit a business to Regional to the town/city where the business is actually located -- it looks like you submitted to a couple of neighbouring towns/cities but not the actual one the business is in.
4. It doesn't look like it made it to the unrevd queue. Did you get an error? I would like to point out to you the description of that category which states "Sites listed here must assist consumers DIRECTLY in the auto purchasing process but must not charge a fee for their services/information or sell vehicles directly to consumers." I see that this site charges fees and so would not be listable in this category according to the category's description.
5. Re: Help for changing the description Given that someone was likely to end up going in to change the current description of the site anyway, I went ahead and changed it per your suggestion (which is better than what was there). Ordinarily, you would be advised to do what you'd done in the past and submit an update request from that category page.
6. Re: photography site As I mentioned in my earlier post, your menu buttons (on the menu.html page) should be offered in french and english in order to be considered a multilingual site. And I personally would translate the photo titles (if you keep the titles, that is).
7. It can. This happens to be a somewhat neglected area of the Shopping section. You're at the bottom of the smallish queue if sorted by date (most every one else has been sitting there longer than you even going by your original submission date). An editor passing by may decide to go in and clean up the under 20 sites sitting there today or they may sit for another couple of months. We just can't give any estimates on timeframe.
8. Resubmitting the site today just overwrote whatever one was already sitting in unreviewed (thus putting you at the bottom of the queue if the editor sorts by date). The queue there is quite large (a couple of hundred sites) and it is likely going to be some time before your site is reviewed.
9. "End of February" was just an estimate of when you should ask again (it's a standard waiting period we ask people to keep between their queries). It doesn't mean that the editor saying that necessarily thinks that your site will or should be listed by then.
10. Yup, that would do the trick.
11. There is nothing on the Car-Lot.us site to indicate that AutoTraderZone.com is the "new" URL for the site (just that it's a mirror) or the new name of the company -- the car-lot.us URL is still valid, the site is still called Car-Lot.us and the content appears to be maintained at that URL.
12. Re: photography site No. The buttons and what text there is on the site is in French so it can only be listed in World:Français.
13. Re: DMOZ policies on advertising ? Personally, I think you shouldn't disable anything that will affect your ability to view the site as it is. With regards to pop up ads, though, we don't generally judge a site's listability by the number of pop up ads. It's the actual content of the site that matters (the site mentioned in this thread had neglible content as well as really annoying pop ups). If the content is borderline acceptable then the quantity/annoyance factor of the pop ups may have an effect on the listability but otherwise, it doesn't really matter.
14. ettore is a meta editor -- that makes his area of expertise the entire directory. All of which appears to serve the sole purpose of driving people through your many, many affiliate links. Gotta say I agree with ettore.
15. I had to ask because I've never actually seen the words spelled out in that respect (i.e. I've seen "I'm an SEO" but not "I'm a Search Engine Optimizer").
16. Re: DMOZ policies on advertising ? So are all the deeplinks.
17. Search Engine Optimization consultant (hmm, are they ever called search engine optimizers? Don't think I've ever seen that).
18. Re: DMOZ policies on advertising ? In general terms, the presence of popups (even two per page) wouldn't result in a site being rejected from the directory. For this site in particular (what I could see before I accidentally shut down the site's browser window while killing popups), there is an awful lot of affiliate content (amazon.com, allposters, hotbar, elibrary, celebfanmail, etc.) on the site (the only non-affiliate stuff I could find were the pics and puzzles).
19. You're waiting in the queue along with under 100 sites.
20. Re: Our Website Was Considered "Spammy" Unfortunately, diet pills is another one of those sections of the directory that is overly prone to extreme amounts of spam so editors there tend to be more suspicious.
21. And even with the URL, we may not be able to tell you very much (depends on whether the site has been touched by an editor at all).
22. Any of the above. Could be anywhere from a day to a year...or longer. Will probably be a month or two at least but, then, I could be wrong and the site could be listed tomorrow.
23. As long as the .org one, dfy.
24. Using a drop shipper is the equivalent of being an affiliate. Your site will not be listed.
25. Want to try again with the URL? www.tradtionalarcherysupply.com is not a registered domain and neither is www.traditionalarcherysupply.com (in case you mistyped the URL in your subject and accidently dropped the "i"). There is a site called "Traditional Archery Supply" (of Whitman, MA) already listed -- is that the same site?
