Re: Site Ignored since July '02 Please Advise [the details have been sent to me via PM and his questions are being dealt with there for now]

Re: Site Ignored since July '02 Please Advise Posting your complaint in 4 forums here is not the way to get your case looked into. Now, there could be any number of reasons why your site hasn't been listed yet. Editors are under no obligation to review sites in the order in which they were submitted so that fact that domains that were registered after yours are listed is meaningless. Nor is it a sign that the editor is abusive or incompetent. The lack of a notification from the editor is also meaningless as very few editors will email the submitters about the status of their submission. If you would like to give us the URL and the category, we can look in the queue and see if you're still waiting there. [edited to correct: "before yours" to "after yours"]

Has it been reviewed yet? http://www.rpgdreamer.com/wa3/

Re: Has it been reviewed yet? Analander is still an editor. He just doesn't have his name listed on those categories any more. -
Your site would be eligible for a listing in the Houston Financial Services category (since that's where your company is located), not the Texas level one.
-
That sounds like your original application is still waiting for review and that you guessed which category you'd applied for incorrectly in your first post. Unless maybe there's a bug occurring here that makes it think your app is still pending.
-
It would have been best to keep commenting in that thread rather than starting a new thread but don't worry about it. That's partly my fault. And don't worry about having posted in the other forum originally -- it's easy enough for the thread to get moved. The fact that there's no editor in the category doesn't mean that no one else can edit there -- every editor in the categories above it as well as editalls+ can edit in that category. There's no way to tell how long it will take someone to get there and review all the waiting sites. Sorry. A 100 site queue is an average size -- there are many larger queues and many smaller. The queue you're in is actually on the smaller side considering some of the ones I've seen lately.

The right place to ask would have been the Submission Status forum but since you've asked here, I'll tackle it here. This section is much too large for a new editor to start out in. Don't. There is no reason for you to continually resubmit your site -- all that does is move your site further down the list if an editor sorts by date. Your last submission, from Dec. 16, is in the queue awaiting review along with under 100 others. All you need to do now is wait patiently (I warn you, though, that it could be awhile before your site is reviewed). You can come back in a month to this thread (don't start a new one) to ask about the status again. [could a moderator please move this thread to the Submission Status forum? Thanks]

You know, many of the various SEO forums have tips on how to increase traffic to your site without it being listed in the ODP. That avenue would probably be your best bet here.
-
Your site is currently listed in http://dmoz.org/Business/Management/Leadership (which seems to be the most appropriate place for it) where it was moved to from Computers/Organizations/Professional. The site doesn't really fit http://dmoz.org/Business/ManagementEducation_and_Training/Resources/ so that submission was deleted.
-
So, this is a site that just contains links to articles on other sites?
-
Actually, dfy, that's more of a UK guideline. Australia has a general policy of listing sites only once, [/i]at the level most appropriate[/i]. Newcarmotorbrokers.com.au loads fine for me (it requires Flash, though) and is essentially a lead generator as well.
-
With regard to a Regional listing, you should include your full address on the site in order to ensure that your site gets listed in the correct place. Not indicating where you are could result in your site being denied a listing in Regional. In most of the Topical sections, however, addresses aren't a requirement.
-
Most of your links go to pages at http://www.secureserver.net/ so they're related somehow.
-
A lack of response would likely indicate that no one is going to go review your site right this very minute.
-
Could someone please change cleve's status from member to Meta? Thanks muchly.

Well, when I see "shwing" (however you want to spell it), the first thing that comes to mind is Mike Myers and Wayne's World.
-
It's still not a month since you initially asked about the submission status of this site (tsk tsk tsk) but I'll answer anyway. You're still in the queue of that category along with over 100 other sites. There is hope (there's always hope) but it's likely going to be awhile before the queue gets cleared out in that category. You can come back in a month (i.e. sometime after March 7) and ask about the status again here in this thread.
-
I would say no. The links are all (or almost all -- I didn't check every single category) affiliate links, most of them cloaked. The site is a directory of affiliate links -- take away the affiliate links, there's really very little left. If you're already getting positive feedback on the site, then I'd say it is already useful to users. But useful to users and listable in the ODP aren't necessarily the same thing, especially when in comes to sites that are virtually nothing but affiliate links.
-
This forum is not officially endorsed by the ODP so you won't see a link from the site submission form (I presume that's what you meant) to it.
-
Your site is still waiting for review in that category. I'll warn you, though, that the queue in that category is huge -- over 600 sites -- so it's probably going to be awhile before you're reviewed.
-
In general terms site could get removed months after it was originally added for a number of reasons, including: -- an editor reviewing sites in the category later determines that it shouldn't have been added in the first place (could be that it is already listed or it doesn't have enough content or any of a number of other criteria aren't met); -- the site was unavailable for a long period of time when an editor was trying to re-review it; -- it was added originally by mistake (slip of the keyboard finger) and the removing editor is just correcting the mistake. In this case, you were deemed to not have enough content (which I kind of agree with since the site consists solely of the one Flash-driven poem). However, your latest resubmission is still waiting to be re-reviewed. [edited to add: yeah...and what hutcheson said. ]

Roofing Contractor So Calif regional listing need

Re: Roofing Contractor So Calif regional listing n I'm believe the right locality for you is Trabuco Canyon so that's where your site is currently awaiting review. I would recommend that you put your address on the web site (it makes good sense as a business to give people more than a phone number through which to contact you).
