Well, let's see: -- First we have that really annoying popup ad that comes up at the beginning and takes over the browser and resizes to fill the screen (that reeeeeaaaally annoyed me). Then, of course, there are all the other pop ups all over the place. -- Then there are all those affiliate links all over the place as well. Lots and lots.....and lots of affiliate links (which we don't like, by the way). -- Then, after picking one of the featured links off your main page, the biography information came from another site (i.e. not unique information), and the media link took me god-knows-where -- when I finally got all the extra windows closed, I no longer even had your site open in a window (obviously mistook whatever URL it forwarded to as a popup which doesn't say much for the link). [edited to add: ah, the media link takes us to clickheretofind.com via an affiliate link -- the resulting page has nothing to do with the celebrity in question...or any celebrity for that matter. It's really funny, though, that one of the 3 or 4 popups that clickheretofind link spawns was for a popup killer. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />] So, we have a site very light on the possibly unique content (I don't know where your photos come from; maybe they are unique and maybe they aren't) and very heavy on the affiliate links, popups, and borrowed material. Not listable by ODP standards. Please don't submit any of the pages.

[original query on this site is here]
-
Don't resubmit [oh, too late...I see you already did]. In a queue sorted by date, that puts you back down at the bottom. You're in the queue (with under 200 other sites) so please don't resubmit any more. It isn't a heavily edited area so you're likely going to be waiting for awhile.
-
You're in the queue along with over 150 others. This category gets a lot of spam and affiliate sites submitted so it'll probably take awhile for your site to be reviewed. You're also in the queue of the Regional category along with a half dozen other sites.
-
Actually, no one has said your site was rejected. It is still in the unreviewed queue of that category (as windharp noted earlier).
-
I'm not sure how to answer a question that amounts to "Please tell us how to spam you with the best results." Please do not submit all (or any even) of the state or city pages. Please. As for the individual home builder pages, if the company doesn't have any other web presence, it's entirely likely (though not guaranteed) that those will get listed (if, however, the company in question has their own website, that will be listed instead). Are you kidding me? Your domain has over 70 listings already.
-
It's as good as any other. It could be 1 day or it could be months. There's no way to tell.

From the looks of things (see http://www.bio4ce.com/diet-pills-affiliates.html ), I'd say that bio4ce.com is indeed the source of the affiliate program, not an affiliate itself. In general, we don't have a problem listing sites that offer their own affiliation schemes (think Amazon.com et al); we're just very careful not to list any of their affiliates. You can see where just seeing the term "bio4ce" would arouse suspicions, though, given the proliferation of affiliates of it that abound.

If you mean should you give it a few weeks and ask again here about it, please leave at least a month between status requests. Note: you likely won't hear anything from an editor if your site is listed or rejected. If the site isn't listed in the category in a month's time, you can come back here to this thread (don't start a new one) and ask about it again (check the actual category rather than searching for your site before you do that).
-
Re: submission not going through 1. You should have posted in the Submission Status Request forum, not in this one (and definitely not in two threads in this one). 2. When you ask for a status, please give us the actual dmoz.org category that you submitted to (i.e. http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Full_Service_and_Commercial/O and http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Security_Printing ). 3. In the future, please don't resubmit your site to a different category simply in the hopes of getting your site reviewed faster. Pick the one best category and just submit it there. 4. "Before Christmas" is not that long ago; neither is "this week". We generally ask that you wait at least a month after submitting before asking about your submission. Having said that, your site isn't in and hasn't been touched in the unreviewed queue of either of those printing-related categories. I presume it is still waiting in the Misplaced folder as noted earlier in this thread, waiting for someone to sort it to the unreviewed queue of the appropriate category. Do not resubmit it. All you need to do now is wait patiently. Please don't ask about it again until at least another month has gone by.

Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yeste [comment as a Web user, not an editor] Do you design your sites in 1024X768 by any chance? Neither of those two sites fits appropriately in 800X600 (the main page for tcfb.com disables the scroll bar but doesn't actually fit my screen -- so I can't see the whole page -- and the graphics on the 5url.com page overlap). Just an observation. added: Oh, and that little resizing thing you do when someone clicks on the search engine link doth not maketh a happy surfer. It's very rude (especially when compounded by the popups galore). You're bound to lose a lot of potential clients after that. [/end comment]

Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yeste We avoid using concrete numbers in descriptions so several is more in keeping with the guidelines than 50. Emails are rarely sent out when action of any kind (adding, deleting, changing) is being taken with a site. And most editors do not respond to emails from submitters. You must realize by now that Dmoz editors don't care what your PageRank is.
-
That would be http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Consumer_Electronics/I You're in the queue with less than a handful of sites. No, I don't know how long it will take to be reviewed.
-
You submission was deleted from Games/Gambling/Contests_and_Sweepstakes (not the Entry Services subcategory) because of problems loading the site. I just tried it myself and it is still giving an error that the certificate issuer is unknown and therefore the connection isn't secure.
-
If the category was updated and your site isn't listed yet, then it stands to reason that you are still in the queue (just as you were a week ago) Please wait at least a month before asking again (don't ask every time you see that the category was updated).
-
Actually, the category you submitted to would be http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Decor_and_Design/European/ (use the dmoz.org URL, not the Google one). Your submission has been moved to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Antiques_and_Collectibles/Furniture/Reproduction_Antiques where it is waiting for review along with over 100 other sites.
-
Relax. Your site is waiting in the queue to be reviewed along with over 50 others. It may take awhile to be reviewed but you're in the queue -- so don't resubmit it or any of the mirrors to that or any other category.
-
Wasn't this previously discussed here? You should have restarted the discussion in that thread.

In terms of a listing in Regional, you wouldn't get both the cooking class site and the hotel site listed -- the cooking class site is easily reached from the hotel site and acts essentially as a subsite of the hotel one. It wouldn't be unreasonable to ask that the description for the hotel listing mention that it has information about the class as well, though. As for submitting it to http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Culinary/, it seems to me to be a reasonable fit for the category....and sites may be listed in both Regional and a topical category where appropriate. You are already waiting in the unreviewed queue there (contrary to what was previously noted, it has never been deleted from that queue) so all you need to do now is be patient.

I don't know. I'm thinking it's one of those sites that you could go either way on, depending on how deep you looked. I mean, there are an awful lot of empty subcategories but then there's also some with a fair bunch of links. Mind you, most if not all of those links are already listed in the ODP so...??? I do have one question (totally from an ordinary sci fi fan POV, not as an editor), psiprone -- why so many "Cool" designations in any given category? It really seems to water down the effect of the designation, having 10 or more sites in the same category given it. You might want to be a little more selective (if you can).

[nevermind....I must've been blind <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />]

You are a Candle People affiliate and as such will not be listed. [edited to add: And Candle People sites appear to just be associated with Genwax.com's affiliate scheme as well (or at least I presume so since evey item the Candle People sites sell has a Genwax.com picture and since Genwax.com openly invites affiliations) -- gotta love two tiers of affiliate schemes.]

As I said in my previous post, I'm not going to be going back to look at your site for technical reasons (I'm not willing to risk crashing again) so I'll have to leave it for someone else to check things out and get back to you about your concerns, OK? <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

[this post is instead of an email reply to you, John] I was going to reply to your last post awhile ago but then didn't because I crashed every time I tried to access the site. I don't know what it was about the site that made me crash but I'm not too eager to go back to try it one more time. I'm sure you can understand that. If I could offer you a tip, though, I'd recommend that you kill the script that autoresizes all of the windows to fill the screen -- it's incredibly annoying, for editors especially since we usually have multiple windows open on our screens at one time. What I did see during one of my attempts was that, though you list brief info about each of the retailers, the actual product information and sales are done on those retailers' sites. What content do you provide that couldn't be served by us just listing the retailer sites?

Feel free to contact them -- there's no guarantee you'll get a response, though. As for checking on the status of the submission, please leave at least 1 month between checks (two weeks isn't nearly long enough).
