Mmmmm, thanks for pointing that out. The two sites have the same contact information, same Paypal recipient, same services offered (well, actually it looks like Kinghits has some extras but that's neither here nor there). That makes submit-url.biz a mirror of kinghits.com and as such it isn't listable.
-
It's in the queue, along with over a dozen other sites. Are you having server problems right now? I can't seem to load the site.
-
It would only be stupid if your only reason to apply was to get your site listed.
-
My guess (and guess is all I can do since I can't access Dmoz right now) would be that it's because it's just a lead generating site. The same could be said for the other two (autoloans.us and carloans.us).

You're in the queue along with over 100 other sites. It will likely be a little while before you're reviewed.

Did I screw up or is iinfosearch.com in the queue?

Re: Did I screw up or is iinfosearch.com in the qu Actually, that category link should read http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Security/Special_Services . To clarify Khym_Chanur's post, though, your site was listed in that category in Dec of 2000 (i.e. two years ago) but was deleted a few months later. -
It's in the queue. It looks like it was submitted on Dec. 9 -- that's less than two weeks ago. A bit soon to start asking about it.
-
Is the site actually finished? Parts it seem to be still under construction -- for example the main page says ":: Add Announcement :: announcement details announcement details announcement details announcement details announcement details announcement details announcement details", the FAQs and About Us documents don't seem to exist at all, and I'm seeing broken image links all throughout the catalog. With regard to submission status, I don't see it in the queue at all and it hasn't been deleted by an editor -- are you sure that's where you submitted it?

I like the structure that you suggest but that doesn't change the fact that your client's breeder site, while it might contain loads of alpaca information, would likely still be listed under the appropriate country/state in the breeders category.
-
They are (or should be) -- the Alpaca Breeders category contains both huacaya and suri subcategories. Note: I know nothing about alpacas so I can't really comment on your other statements. If it's a breeder's site, then in all fairness to other breeder sites, it should be placed according to the same rules as the others (i.e. it should be placed by the breeder's location).

The search index hasn't been updated since late September due to technical difficulties.
-
In all likelihood, you're never going to get a notification if your site is rejected. Wait patiently. The submission that was waiting in the Regional California category is now listed in Concord, CA. The other one is still waiting.

Is your site really appropriate for listing in Reference/Maps? The description for that category indicates that it is for sites offering maps for viewing online and you don't offer that (you just offer 2 map scale converters). None of the subcats seem appropriate either so I don't know where it would get listed (perhaps somewhere under http://dmoz.org/Science/Social_Sciences/Geography/ ?)

Before your creature creator Flash made my computer crash (and crash hard), it looked to me as though the site was a little thin on content for a listing in Illustrator portfolios. Mind you, maybe that was just because the navigation doesn't really give a good idea of what you have on your site -- unless someone rolls over and clicks on the pictures, they're not going to know that you include samples of your work; and when I saw the Links "button", I certainly didn't expect it to include links to more examples of your work. The "Buy Stuff" button also doesn't immediately jump out as being a way to buy some of your work (especially since it redirects to something that seems unrelated to you) -- it looked at first more like a nonrelated affiliate-type link that many people include on their homepage. It kind of all gives the impression that this is just a personal homepage. I realize that isn't the case (in fact, I quite like your artwork) but that's how it comes across. Do you do any other kind of art besides the cartoony drawings I see on your site? If not, http://dmoz.org/Arts/Illustration/Cartoons/Portfolios/ would have been a better place to submit, rather than the more general Illustrator Portfolios category.

Weird. I was just poking around the alpaca categories. One of us must be psychic. Let me see if I can address some of your questions: -- Breeders/Suris doesn't have enough sites to subcategorize by country, let alone state so all the sites are lumped together in the main cat; -- Breeders/Huacayas has enough sites to subcategorize by country so it is; the US cat is also large enough to subcategorize by state (looks like that's not finished, though -- that seems to be the case for Breeders/United_States as well). That help?

Please don't start a new thread to check the status of a site you've already asked about. Please reuse the old thread.

Hmmm, hypothetical. Yeah. If the information site contains practically the same area information as the Acme Hotel site and prominently features information about the hotel itself (and not about any other hotels), the two sites are in essence offering the same information in different packages (i.e. mirrors). We only list one of them. Period. This is the category your nonhypothetical submissions from earlier fell into and any other sites you have like them will fall into this category as well. A hypothetical "best Barbados holiday guide" wouldn't limit lodging information to a single hotel or it would be simply another site for that hotel and not a Barbados tourism guide. Now, if you wanted to include decent information about the other hotels (i.e. competitors) in the area and unique Barbadian (??) information that isn't on the Acme Hotel site, well, that might be a totally different kettle of fish (I say "might" because it's impossible to say for sure without seeing the sites in question). Frankly, the only real reason a hotel would want to create a separate site for area information instead of putting it on their hotel site is to try to drum up more traffic. Being helpful to surfers is secondary to their quest for guests.

There had been no update request received for that site so it was unreviewed when it became unavailable. I've corrected it now.
-
You're in the queue, along with almost 200 other sites. It will probably be awhile before you're reviewed.
-
No, I only did it with this one. Try submitting the other one using Netscape and when you have, post in that other thread so someone can check to see if it made it in (I'd add it to the queue for you but I'm having slowdown problems right now).
-
Hard to say. You could be listed tomorrow or you could still be waiting this time next year. My best guesstimate would be that you're probably looking at a couple of months at least. For me personally, editing in a category like Celebrities is something I can only do in small doses before I get a migraine.
-
Not sure now it ended up in the queue for UK Gift Baskets but now it's sitting in the queue for the Indianapolis category. You don't belong in the Business category but you are still in the queue in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Gifts/Gift_Baskets/S along with over a dozen other sites.
-
It's in the queue with under a dozen sites. You'd also qualify for a listing in the Regional Silver Springs category, if you'd care to submit your site there.

www.FreeWeightLossCenter.com (waiting waiting....)

The search is based on the RDF dump and the RDF dump has had technical problems for the last couple of months. I believe they're close to fixing it (another RDF dump is running right now) but I couldn't give you more than an "I hope it'll be in the next couple of weeks". Google's update is based on the RDF dump as well so no new RDF means no updated Google directory. Hmm, my mistake about the NY category, then -- I thought you were talking about a different site (you never actually said which one was yours and my deductive reasoning is obviously flawed today). Doh!
