I don't see you sitting in the queue for that category and, other than the Regional listing already mentioned, it hasn't been touched. Are you sure that's the category you submitted to?
-
Re: Is the one reason why this site hasn't been listed Please don't start a new thread to check on the same site. Original thread is here

I would submit the main URL ( http://www.larkconsultants.com/ )to http://dmoz.org/World/Français/Informatique/Logiciels/Gestion/ rather than two deeplinks to two different subcategories of that category.

Re: www.scientopica.com/sci in Science; Directorie The application you have is obviously experiencing problems. Doesn't sound like it is very reliable for tracking ODP submissions since your site still hasn't been touched. How does it determine your submission status?
-
Re: www.scientopica.com/sci in Science; Directorie What do you mean by "Since I had seen the status go from 'listed' to 'not listed'..."? Just curious. BTW your two duplicate submissions (www.scientopica.com and www.scientopica.com/sci/index.php) were deleted, leaving just the one correct one in the queue. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

You're currently sitting in a 250+ unreviewed queue in http://Games/Gambling/Sports

An editor reviewing your site will make sure that the title and description are hype-free before listing (or they should). So, don't worry too much about that. It would be nice if the submitted title and description were already nice and guidelines-compliant (it would make it easier and faster to review which translates to a faster listing time) but it's not a requirement for listing.

An affiliate link is a link to another site that contains a special code that tells the other site that the visitor came from your site. You then usually get paid a commission for each person who buys something from that other site. Examples of these would be the ebay, Amazon.com, and allposters links on your site. The other links (e.g. the ones to ezthemes.com) don't appear to be affiliates but you're only providing links to ezthemes, who are already listed appropriately. I meant to explain the categories you chose in a previous post. Many of the categories you initially submitted to would be inappropriate for a site that only contains links to other sites since they are designed for sites that actually contain that particular content -- e.g. http://dmoz.org/Arts/Celebrities/Downloads/Wallpaper/ is for sites that actually contain celebrity wallpaper for you to download, http://dmoz.org/Arts/Celebrities/Image_Galleries/Non-Gender_Specific/ is for sites that actually contain image galleries of celebrities. Many of the other categories are for different types of information than you have on your site. [edited to add: dangnabbit, I'm still typing too slow! <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />]

With Dmoz down right now, we can't look in any of the categories right now but I'm sure someone will when Dmoz is back up. You can't delete excess submissions yourself but an editor will take care of that as they are reviewing the categories. Your site looks like it is mostly affiliate links and links to ezthemes.com. Ezthemes themselves are already listed (in http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Desktop_Customization/Directories) so those links and the affiliate links don't constitute original content. It's entirely possible that you won't get listed. Have I missed something on your site? [edited to add: dang, I take too long to write -- senox beat me in]

You can make me the subject of your ire all you like. I don't deserve it, though, because I was just trying to offer you an idea of why an editor may choose not to add your site. I was not and am not the editor reviewing your site for inclusion.
-
Every single page of the site contains at least 8 affiliate links (4 on the side, 1 on top, 1 at the bottom, and 2 or more within the list of links). Much of the "content" that is left is just links to threads at other forums (not articles). Yes, there is other stuff there but you're making it difficult for the reviewing editor(s) to actually find any of it (note: I am not one of them). BTW All of the autotruck.net links on your site are bad, since the domain is up for sale.
-
You're currently at the bottom of a 40+ queue.
-
I haven't looked at every inch of your site but in looking at one of the pages you noted (http://www.10w40.com/pages/buy_part.asp ), it's difficult to see the content for the affiliations. That first page contains nothing but affiliate links. Subsequent pages seem to contain a mix of the two. Other sections, as you mentioned, have a slightly lower degree of affiliate links but you still have an awful lot of them and they are "in your face". This makes the "content" of the site seem to be predominantly affiliate links...which don't get listed.

I personally think it belongs more in the Home category than the Business one (since the site's information is aimed at providing consumer information to consumers). Just out of curiousity, did you use a different URL each time you submitted to the Home category? There's only one submission (from early Sept.) sitting in unreviewed there and it was for the deeplink http://dbatitan.home.att.net/vp/vl08.html . Neither that deeplink nor the main URL have been touched more than once. The Business category you chose just happens to have an active editor who only looks after that one category. The Home category, on the other, doesn't have quite the same level of babysitting. So it could take longer to get reviewed there than in the Business one you picked.

wedding-invitations-store.com is a partial mirror of http://invitationconsultants.com which is already listed in that category. [edited to add: you didn't ask but the same thing would apply to birthannouncementsstore.com, holiday-cards-store.com, www.graduation-announcements-store.com and any other mirrors of invitationconsultants.com]
-
You're not in the queue of that category or any of its subcategories and it doesn't look like you ever were. You are, however, already listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Florida/Localities/J/Jacksonville/Travel_and_Tourism/Travel_Services

It's there in the queue. It's a very small queue (under 10 sites waiting).

Status of http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tips.html
motsa replied to a topic in Site Submission Status
Re: Status of http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tips. It's a deeplinking of the main site that is easily accessed from the main URL so that's likely why it was removed. Listing a deeplink and the main URL in the same category isn't done. -
No reason to delete the thread. The points you raised will be looked into.
-
No, there isn't.
-
Was there a particular reason why you deleted your earlier thread to replace it with individual threads for each submission? Go here to see the disembodied response I wrote for the thread that disappeared (reference to this site is at the bottom of the post).
-
Hmmm, let's see. I just spent several minutes of my life crafting a response to your more general thread (that no longer exists) so let me copy and paste the relevent portion of my previous response here: http://www.freedomspas.us and http://www.downeastspas.com are both subsets of http://www.masterspas.com/ -- both redirect customers to the masterspas.com site for ordering information and neither one offers remote shopping (online, mail, phone). Master Spas is already listed appropriately in Business and Regional -- these two shouldn't be.
-
Resubmit to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/Localities/A/Allenhurst/Business_and_Economy since your other submission was moved. You might want to put a pointer to this thread in your submission. Alternately, if you want to try your hand at editing, you may want to apply to edit the Allenhurst category using your site as one of your application URLs. Just make sure you read over the guidelines with regards to how to title and describe sites, find a couple of additional Allenhurst sites, and submit your app. It's a small enough category that you might be accepted into it as a new editor, provided your application is well done.
-
As thehelper says, it does qualify for a Regional listing but in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/Localities/A/Allenhurst/Business_and_Economy , not in the one you originally submitted to.

Re: Submission ignored since 3-2002: balloontime.c Balloontime.com also doesn't offer any kind of remote shopping (online, mail, phone, etc.) on the site, which is a prerequisite for listing in Shopping. All it does is describe the product and tell people to go to a physical store to buy it. [added in response to previous post: It would not get listed in Shopping for the above reasons so please don't resubmit it there.]
