You're waiting to be reviewed there but I'd be surprised if you were added since (a) all of your buy links send people to other sites (I presume you have a hidden affiliation with those vendors), (b) your gear links are all affiliate links, and © your audio files are all on other sites as well. Thus you don't really provide any unique content from an ODP point of view.
-
I'm sure you mean well but that is so much more information than an editor needs to review your site. It doesn't matter to us (a) who hosts you, (b) how many people link to you and/or who they are, or © how many visitors and/or positive feedbacks you get. We just care about the content. I'd also like to take a moment remind everyone (since this is the second time today that I've seen this said) that the ODP is not Google's ODP or the Google Open Directory Project. While Google makes use of the ODP data, it doesn't own it and it has no responsibility for it. You'd be correct to call us the ODP, the Open Directory Project, the Netscape Open Directory Project, and any number of other things but not the Google Open Directory Project. Having said that, your site has been listed in http://dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Evangelism/Christianity_for_Seekers/Bible_Studies since October. Your recent submissions to the category you mentioned have been deleted since you are already listed appropriately.

There's nothing wrong with redirecting the old URL to the new one if you're planning on keeping the old URL but just not using it for a hosted site (if you redirect the old URL, you could just skip to item © below). If you're actually planning on letting the old domain's registration lapse, I'd recommend that you (a) put up a notice on the "old" URL now stating that people should be using the new one, (b) remove all references to the "old" URL on the new one (e.g. the email contact is @testsforless.com), and © submit an update request (using the "Update URL" link at the top right of the P&O ODP category page). [drat that hutcheson; he's so succinct that his post got in first]

Why? The one that is already listed in the one that matches the company name and so is the most appropriate of the mirrors. Do I take it you're looking to try to take advantage of the keyword loading of this URL? Oh, and the existing listing is now in the Pregnancy and Ovulation subcat (not the Tests parent cat) since that what's you offer.

You're there waiting in the queue. It's a large queue (over 600 sites) so it's probably going to be awhile before you get reviewed.
-
Please don't start a new thread to ask about a site you've already asked about -- please reuse the original thread. Thanks.

translation = your guess is as good as mine. Seriously, though, there's no way to estimate how long it will take for a submission anywhere in the directory to be reviewed so the best you can get is a "yes, it's still waiting" response.

Re: Suggestion to help remove stale links from DMO Just wanted to clarify that I said "I don't think it would work very well for the ODP as described." (i.e. having it send an email to an editor), not that I thought the idea in general had no merit (just realized my original post wasn't perhaps as clear as it could have been).
-
Re: Suggestion to help remove stale links from DMO I'll be honest with you and say that, while it no doubt works really well where only one person (you) is responsible for the links, I don't think it would work very well for the ODP as described. The biggest impediment is that many categories have no listed editor and even those that do may have relatively inactive editors -- sending an email to a specific person, therefore, may be impossible or at the very least possibly very ineffective. Each category page right now has an "Update URL" link that can easily be used by anyone who comes across a bad URL. The benefit to using "Update URL" rather than emailing someone is that the update goes into the queue where any editor traipsing by can see it and act on it.
-
It's a little complicated and I can't go into the details here but you are still waiting to be reviewed (it just isn't where we'd expect it to be). Don't worry.

Re: Queue position of www.paintingdepot.com No category is editor-less. Even if there is no listed editor, all parent category editors, metas, Regional catmods and editalls can edit all Regional categories. In general, Regional submissions usually take less time to get reviewed but it's impossible to be more specific than that.
-
"Not found" means you're not currently in the queue for that category and "apparently not going to be listed" means your site was deemed to have insufficient unique content to warrant listing.
-
A testimony from someone offering you a free book, whose site ends up getting listed in "your" category even after being told by you that it doesn't belong there. How odd.
-
The description for the Promotion category clearly states "Web site Design firms DO NOT belong in this category. If your site offers Design, Hosting and Promotion, please submit to the appropriate letter in the Designers section." Looking at your site, I see that you offer design, hosting, and marketing services among other things. That makes your site appropriate for the category it is currently waiting in, not the SEO Firms one. Sorry. The fact that some sites are currently dual listed mistakenly doesn't mean yours should also be dual listed. As you can appreciate, that whole area (WD&D) is very backlogged but I'm sure inappropriately dual listed and/or misplaced sites will get corrected as they are discovered.

I know it seems as though it is "plain to see" but it isn't. You're presuming that the only reason that your site wouldn't have been listed immediately is that the listed editor of the category is a competitor and therefore abusing their position. Not every editor puts in a large amount of time editing, every good edit is one edit more than we would have had if that editor wasn't there. The fact of the matter is that you have the misfortune of dealing with a category where the editor is not very active (note that this is very different from being abusive). I'm sorry. But we don't promise you'll be listed in 2 weeks. Even the passage you keep quoting doesn't say that. We don't promise you'll be listed in any specific period of time at all. We're all volunteers here and someone will get to reviewing the sites in that category eventually. Believe me, there are categories a lot more backed up than this one. In the meantime, I think you're placing too much importance on an ODP listing. You should probably concentrate more on other SEO options that you have more control over.
-
You're still in the queue, along with a couple of hundred other sites.
-
Actually, they wouldn't. Since you offer web design services plus SEO services, you belong only under the Designers category. If your friend offer web design as well as SEO, they belong under Designers as well. You're currently waiting with over 400 other sites in that category -- it's likely going to be a long wait. Don't resubmit. You might want to submit to Albuquerque as well since that's where you're located -- you'll likely have a shorter wait there.
-
I think you should interpret hutcheson's previous response to you as an indication that you should not resubmit any of the sites.

Re: 6 Months No Listing - Home Improvement/Real Es (1) FTR it's servicemagicinc.com that is listed in the Climate Control category, not servicemagic.com (2) You've never submitted an update request asking to move the site from there to another category -- all I see is an update request to change the URL to yet another mirror (that request was deleted, BTW). Maybe your efforts over the last 6 months have just involved emailing editors? Oh, wait -- I see that you've submitted the servicemagic.com URL several times to the parent category rather than requesting an update of the existing listing. Gotcha. (3) While I agree that your site doesn't belong in the category it is currently in, I'm not sure it really belongs in the parent category either. You have home improvement articles but your primary purpose, I'm sure you'd agree, is to offer up your lists of contractors, not the supplemental articles you provide. Because of that, I would have said it should be in http://dmoz.org/Business/Construction_and_Maintenance/Directories/North_America/United_States except that you don't actually have a directory of contractors on your site -- people have to register and give all kinds of information before you'll email them a list of contractors in their area (at least, I presume you actually will -- I didn't feel like registering in order to verify that). That makes it really difficult to judge the value of the content on the site -- because really there isn't much that we can see without waiting for something to be emailed to us. Pretty much makes you a lead generator site with a library of articles. (4) RE: servicemagic.com/realestate -- again, you don't actually offer any actually content on the site (users have to register and wait to have a list of agents sent to them). Again, essentially lead generator services and this deeplink isn't likely to be accepted. At least the home improvement part has some value-added stuff like the articles (though I can't judge their uniqueness)....the real estate section is strictly lead generation.

motsa replied to a topic in Site Submission Status
Re: www.hughesfinanceservices.com/www.moenindustri Grrr. Twice I've tried to reply and twice my Mac IE has frozen on a cut and paste (I know...I should stop using IE but it's a hard habit to break). So here's the short version of the long posts I lost -- the first site is waiting for review in Hacienda Heights since that's where the company is located. The second is waiting along with a couple dozen sites in the category you submitted to. -
It's only been 3 weeks since you last got a status update.

Re: DMOZ Submisson Status er, yeah, that's what I meant. [darn that copy and paste]

Re: DMOZ Submisson Status In reply to your new thread post: It was listed earlier today in Williamsburg.

Re: Staus of Submission - Thanks Please see my reply in your original thread.

Re: http://www.preownedcars.com site, status reque It's been rejected for lacking sufficient unique content (note: "unique content" is that content which doesn't appear on other sites).
