Hello and welcome, Corinne.

Dollsntoys, You stated: BTW, if you find many sites related to "book-a-holics", be sure and save them in your ODP bookmarks category. Who knows! Didn't find a "book-a-holics", but I did find this one http://www.readaholics.com/

Many people (including me) have experienced problems submitting the application using IE (I was using IE6). Mine went through immediately when I used Netscape. There seems to be a bug, and the ODP staff is trying to find its source. If you didn't post your problem, the staff would be unaware of it. You certainly weren't "taking up our time". Glad to hear that you got it working.

Thanks for your help.

Wer, Thanks for the congratulations. Wow there is a lot of information to absorb. Starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, but will get it all sorted out eventually.

Thank you. I know I will have many questions, so I'll be sure to read the posts. If I'm still not sure, I'll ask in the New Editors Forum. Whee!

Thank you so much. I'm sure I'll find "book-a-holics" as I'm sure I'm not the only one in this world. See you in contemporary.

Wow enarra, congratulations on all your hard work

Aries here, now which category is the best match?

I like it. Glad to see it's fixed.

I thought that was the reason. Thanks for the confirmation

I noticed that too and removed it. It doesn't seem to want to use the graphic from my Geocities website, and would only show up (to me) after I had visited my website. Have a great day!

Beebware and Giz, Thanks for your help. Giz, I saved the "errors" page and will quickly fix the errors. I guess I should not count on either FrontPage or Dreamweaver to find these types of errors and have bookmarked this site for future use. Thanks a million!

Giz, sorry for the wild goose chase! I am so deeply embarrassed. My head's hanging down as I slink out of the forum.

Giz, Thanks for your quick reply. I just double checked the Meta's on my site, and here's my Metas: {<meta name="keywords" content="web design, graphic design, Hammond IN job seeker, cribbage, books, music, Open Project Directory search engine."] [<meta name=description" content="My personal homepage with links to websites I've designed and graphics I've made, and it also contains my biography and resume. My interests page contains links to cribbage, book, and music websites.] [<meta name="Author" content=""Diane Hildebrandt"">] [
Detta's World
] Should my title be a Meta title? Thanks again for your help!

Giz, I understood that Hutcheson was joking, and I hope that my (lol) Graemlins showed that I was also joking about heading for the door. I guess I will have to display my "eloquence" through my posts to the forums. If I were an editor, I rather doubt I would be found in "classical" as my tastes are definitely contemporary (i.e., Stephen King, John Jakes, James Clavell, Robert Jordan, Orson Scott Card--to only name a few). Maybe I should create a website for "bookaholics" like myself?

Furiosity, I think it would be nice if the author's (Robert McCammon) website was also listed in the category "Arts/Literature/Authors/Horror". His website is: http://www.robertrmccammon.com/ Thanks!
-
In reply to hutcheson, "...You can also take part in editor discussions of pseudo-classical and/or ancient music, thus displaying a breadth of knowledge and consummate eloquence that we can't so easily see in ordinary, potentially pseudonymous, editor applications..." I haven't found that section, but I will look for it now. Thanks for the tip. In reply to hutcheson, "...And you can see where help is needed, and show a willingness to help that will encourage us to give quickly you all the dirty jobs, including "Arts/Bands and Artists/Britney Spears/Fan Pages/Illiterate..." Errr, I think it's time to head out the door!
-
No, I didn't include it in my application. I posted the question on the forum so the error could be quickly fixed. And it was!

I only submitted it on September 24, 2002. After reading some of the posts on the forums, I was curious to know how long it normally takes because I do realize there are a lot of submissions. The site is: http://www.geoities.com/dian_hildebrandt/index.html The category was: http://dmoz.org/Society/People/Personal_Homepages/H/ Thanks for your help!

Has anyone noticed that the graphic on the index page of the forum is broken? In my humble opnion, that's kind of tacky....
-
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that news...hopefully I'll hear something rather quickly.
-
I was wondering: What is the average number of personal homepage submitted daily? How long does it generally take for them to be reviewed? Thanks!
-
I applied to be an editor for "Modessit" under sci-fi/fantasy. Though I wouldn't mind doing one for McCammon...can you apply to be an editor in more than one place?
-
I only found the McCammon site through a search on his name. I am surprised that there aren't more listings for his works. I'm glad that you straightened it out. Thanks for replying. Diane aka MsDetta
