The URLs in question are: http://www.sales-management-expert.com http://www.change-management-expert.com http://www.helpdesk-expert-customer-service.com http://www.helpdesk-expert-it-support.com

It's perfectly fine to post URLs in the "Submissions" forum.
-
What URL are you trying to submit?
-
Unfortunately, to develop such a system would require access to DMOZ's proprietary back end, which no one other than staff has access to.
-
Due to the incredible amount of submissions, ODP editors do not send out rejection letters. Your first site is almost about to be added in Science/Methods_and_Techniques/Stereology. Your second site has been having a harder time finding a home.

Staff and meta editors don't answer questions about editor removals as a matter of policy. You probably might also want to read Editor Removal Explained by arlarson.

Sparrow, I apologize, I must have been having a dyslexic moment /images/icons/smile.gif , as I thought the beds referred to on the site were replicas. Looking at the site again, I see that you actually sell antique beds. I apologize. Please disregard my earlier post.

It's not a matter of reorganization. It's a matter of content.

We don't list sites that consist of primarily affiliate content. While we don't mind listing sites that have a lot of content and a couple of affiliate links, if your site is primarily composed of affiliate links - as yours is - with a little content thrown in, then it's not going to be listed. Out of the twelve links (not counting the "contact us" link) to further pages on your site, only two point to real content, while 10 point to affiliate links. Until your content/affiliate link ratio changes so that you have a lot more content than affiliate links, your site will not be added to the directory.

Sparrow, while I'm not a Shopping editor, I believe the antiques category is for actual antiques. Since you offer replica beds, not actual antiques, I don't think your site could be listed in that category. As for not being qualified to be an editor - everyone is qualified to become an editor. There are no special requirements. Find a smallish category that interests you and apply.

Right now the Scientology is in the process of being heavily reorganized. We usually don't accept new editors in categories that are undergoing reorganziation - expecially in categories as contentious as this one. Secondly, the main Scientology category is too large for a new editor, which is why your first request was probably rejected.

They are not neccessarily different answers. If you have a page were the color of the official attribution clashes with the color of your page, it really is no big deal if you want to change the colors. It's been done before. For example, Any Search uses a blue box. OTOH, the layout and content of the attribution box need to remain the way it's specified in the license agreement.

Rhilton, in almost all cases, if you were rejected, you should have received an email telling you the reason why. What category did you apply for?
-
...because when I log on to dmoz.org and do a search for: petartpix.com or just petartpix it says: No Open Directory Project results found... The ODP search engine is only used by editors. Not only is it highly irrelevant, it's being in the process of being revamped, so all queries return "no results found." ... if I do a search on AOL I get the same results? Questions about AOL Search or other search engines for that matter, are beyond the scope of this forum. I suggest you ask your question with regards to AOL in one of the forums listed in the following category: Computers/.../Search_Engine_Submitting_and_Positioning/Comparisons_and_Discussions/

Actually I've seen sites waiting in the unreviewed queue, which had never been listed before, flagged by Robozilla.
-
As long as the content of the attribution box remains the same, the color can be whatever you want.
-
Deborah, what you need to do is to fill out the following form. Since there are only a couple of sites waiting to be reviewed in that category, your update request should be dealt with quickly.
-
Directories of affiliate links are not eligible to be listed in the ODP. Your free email service could be eligible to be listed in a subcategory of Computers/Internet/E-mail/Free/Web-Based/.

Due to the fact that the Open Directory Project's Editor Guidelines specifically forbid adding sites, whose main content consists of affiliate links, your site was not added to the directory. Sites are only added to the directory if they include unique content. With affiliate sites, since they all sell or distribute the same content - i.e. travel services - it means that since they don't provide unique content they aren't listed. If you add a lot of unique content to your site in addition to affiliate links, then it is possible for your site to be listed. What are affiliates, you ask. Affiliate's basically are third-party marketers of content. In your case, your site doesn't provide any unique content of its own. Instead it markets the services provided by http://www.onlineagency.com , which in turn is marketing the services of various cruise lines, etc. The reason we don't allow sites that consist of only affiliate content, is that they provide little value to the end-user. Imagine a category where 95 out of the 100 travel agents listed were all affiliates of onlineagency.com. They all offer the same prices, same packages, etc. It becomes frustrating for the user because all s/he sees is the same content, and at the same time it makes it much more difficult for that person to find trult unique content.

All three are still waiting to be reviewed. What category did you submit them to?
-
Lori, your site is still waiting to be reviewed in Shopping/Gifts/Gift_Baskets/Corporate as well as Regional/North_America/Canada/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Gifts. The Shopping category is really backlogged with over 100 sites waiting to be reviewed, some of which were submitted before yours. The Regional category only has a couple of sites waiting to be reviewed, so odds are you'll be listed there first.

Your title's been changed. Next time you post you should have the title "Editor" instead of "Member".

If you already are an ODP editor, please do not use this forum to ask questions, doubly so when it has to do with why your application to edit a certain category was rejected. Secondly, do not ask questions about Adult sites in this forum - we have a special "Adult" forum where these questions can be answered. PM any administrator and they will grant you access to this forum.
