Several editors have given up part of their weekend to help clear sites added last year to the Computer categories. The results will show in the next ODP update. Editors have no control over that though and are therefore not in a position to advise or even guess a date. Just hang in there; it will all happen soon!

You wouldn't read about it, but I was just reviewing some sites in the computer cat and Joe's was among them. Those that I added are probably not viewable just yet. Not until the ODP updates at least. < added > Personally, I think you will do better with your Regional listing anyway. The Computers/Internet/Web Design and Development/Designers categories are so large they are almost a lucky dip. But then, being originally a Regional editor, I might be biased.

Thank you for being very patient. I think I have good news. There is a site called Shwing in Arts/Directories/Regional/North_America You might not be able to see it because the ODP has not updated its public side data for a while, but I assure you it is there. Looks to be a nice site too. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for being patient for so long. Your site appeared to be listed elsewhere, but a check shows otherwise. This might be due to your comments in the first posting; "3 - 4 submissions made over the last few months. No results as yet." Based on the above information, your original submission has been processed and will show up shortly.

Hint. Take a look at the other sites in the category where your site is waiting. They all have something that your site doesn't (at the above time and date). Without that bit of information there is a fair chance Regional editors will overlook your site.

Just be aware that commercial sites submitted to science categories are usually left to last and often not added at all.

What dfy said with the addition that this is one of our more volatile categories. It gets mountains of affiliate sites submitted by people sucked into get rich quick schemes. That means legit sites get delayed until the cat is cleaned out every so often. An example of how a cat such as this changes is that since editor dfy posted, your site has moved to second in line. So, don't hold your breath, but start counting hours, not days. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

No, there is no need to resubmit. Editor dfy has explained the situation. The site has been overlooked by editors for several reasons. (The following are not grounds for not listing, but they sure can slow down the reviewing process.) "Due to limitations with certain browsers, this site is best viewed with Internet Explorer 3.0 and above." Why say that? It's a turn off to anyone, including editors, who don't use that product. The site has also been lingering in a "misplaced" category. There is no information on the site clearly indicating its location or origin. That immediately precludes it from having a second listing in a Regional category. All that aside, the good news is the site is being reviewed in Arts/Crafts/Decorative Painting and will show up in that category shortly.

Hi Kay. No worries. Mistakes happen. Just resubmit the site and post the category here. An editor will look into it for you asap.

I think editor motsa gave you some good advice about going for your locality. There aren't any unlisted sites waiting in Regional/North America/United States/Texas/Localities/H/Houston/Business and Economy/Financial Services

Try looking in Regional/Europe/United Kingdom/Business and Economy/Shopping/Toys and Games I think that's your site in there.

Hi jraff. What editor dfy said is correct I'm afraid. I would give it at least another couple of days then check the category again.

Thank you jambo for being patient. It is a popular category and as usual we are short of editors there. There is a small problem with the site when viewing it with Netscape 7 on a PC in 800 x 600. An "Advanced Search" button is overlaying the "Computers" and "Components" buttons directly below "Promotions" in the left hand column. It is not major and is not affecting the site regarding suitability for listing. The site should be showing up in the category by the weekend.

Hi Andy. Nice site. You maintain a commercial site located in Jersey which in simple terms means it should be listed there (which it is). It is not entitled to be listed under England for the same reason as above. Again in general terms (different categories and situations vary), a site may be listed once in the Regional branch and once in the Topical branch of the ODP. For example, Recreation/Outdoors/Hiking might be another category worth a submission. <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

The editors working in the Shopping category are busy. They seem to keep finding more duplicates/mirrors/clones of www.lens.com. My guess is that when the editors can identify the legit sites they will start adding them.
