  2. It's awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Gifts/Personalized/Prints (the above category) with around half-a-dozen other sites.
  3. Your site is awaiting review in that category with less than 40 other sites.
  4. According to another thread this site was also submitted to: http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Full_Service_and_Commercial/ . There is no record of you submitting to the above category. Your site is still awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Web_Offset/ with less than 50 other sites.
  5. Where did you submit it to? As the "READ BEFORE POSTING" note at the top of the forum states - please provide the category path in clickable URL format: e.g. http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/ .
  6. It's awaiting review in that category with less than 70 other sites.
  7. No change - FYI: the update of the category was to remove a listed site that had gone 404'd. Why didn't the editor review the sites while they were there? Well, it takes time to properly review a site and the idea of having "listed editors" for each category means that someone that is experienced and knowledgable about the subject matter will review the site. But when a site goes "404" (or, in ODP terminology, 'turns red'/'marked by Robo/Robozilla') editors may remove (or move to unreviewed) the site that is showing up as 404d. This takes a matter of seconds and all the editor needs to be able to do is check the site isn't available. They don't have to worry about checking for duplicates (either a site is 'dead/404' or it isn't), haven't got to check for original, useful content, haven't got to think of a good title and description etc etc.
  8. I'm guessing that you've already given enough information in this thread to enable the metas to track down who you were. But if you expect them to reveal all their secrets (say, for example, you were going to reapply under another editor name and try and hide the fact that you were kicked out before: and, therefore, wanted to know how metas find out people's track records) - then you've been mistaken. I know a large number of the meta's know a hell of a lot about the internet and "social engineering" - and hence have many ways of finding out the truth behind aliases...But like magicians, if they reveal their secrets - then their whole purposes of being disappears.
  9. An editor that you have contacted is currently consulting with other editors regarding possible inclusion of your site. Since not quite a month has elapsed during this time, it's a little bit early to start chasing things up at this point. Try reviving this thread in the new year (with details of which category you submitted to).
  10. See this thread for your answer. DO NOT launch new threads about the same site.
  11. >> Is there any timescale that you could let us know? << Nope - all editors are volunteers and are human. Hence they may decide to edit the area where your submission is awaiting in the next five minutes, or they could just not have any interest in the area and avoid it like the plague. It is impossible for us to give timescales. >> Can you be more specific with the no. of sites waiting? << More than 30 and less than 50. We try not to be too specific with the "unreviewed queue size" as a) it could change up and down within minutes (usually when I check the queue size I usually remove obvious spam), b) submitters would may take it as meaning something more than the size of the queue.
  12. It's awaiting review in that category along with less than 50 sites. There is no need to resubmit.
  13. Re: amazing-hgh.com - help site not mlm Whilst I don't edit much in that area, I am aware that Pro-HGH is a common MLM product (a quick search on Google also confirms this). Looking at your site, it does give an indication of being a MLM distributor (even if it's several MLM schemes - it's still MLM). For further details of what we term "Multi-Level Marketing" (MLM), please see the editor guidelines]http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#affiliate]editor guidelines. Several other of your product lines have been recognised by fellow editors as being MLM-products: hence it is unlikely that your site will be listed.
  14. Re: adding to topic Possibly - but if it wasn't in place, we'll have a lot more work to do. If spam is intercepted, it is easier for a single editor to tick lots of boxes then for many many different editors to have to go into each site individually. Ok, so sometimes the system is a little bit strict - but it is monitored and once "patterns" emerge (for example: it was noticed that it was being 'triggered' by one of AOL's proxy/cache servers) then excemptions can be put in place.
  15. Well, it's in place to try and prevent even more additional work for editors. Basically, if this "security precaution" wasn't in place then we'll see a lot more spam hitting us then necessary (people saving the submit page and continually resubmitting the data etc). Previously we avoid this by just showing a page reading something like "Submission Rejected. Please email your URL and category details to ....". What exactly happened to those emails is unknown (well, to me at least). At least this way we do receive the submissions and they are only delayed about an additional day. But, on the plus side, we can easily notice someone attempting to spam the ODP and put blocks in place ASAP: otherwise lots of different editors would have to delete the submissions (if all the spam is in one queue then it's just a case of the senior editor 'checking' the delete boxes - otherwise editors would have to go into each site in each queue individually which adds a lot of time). All in all, it isn't a "problem" or "bug" - more a little feature that may be a little bit too strict sometimes... Senior editors do regularly inspect the queues and see if there is a "pattern" emerging - for example, if it appears a certain proxy server is causing problems (an example in the past has been one of AOL's own proxy servers) then excemptions can be put in place to prevent this in the future .
  16. Re: www.cedarhousedreams.com (Correct URL path: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Food/Gifts/Baskets/ - ODP category paths are usually case-sensitive. Oh - and you should have started the thread with subject being the URL of your site, but I'm sure if a moderator/administrator sees this they'll try and make any minor adjustments they can. It's just that if someone else posts with "hi... trying again" or similar, then the threads may get confused - but URLs should be relatively unique. Oh - it may also be a good idea to remove (if you still can) you email address from your post: if an editor needs it, they'll ask for it [usually via private message] - if it's just sitting there, then it could be picked up by any email-trailing bot on the net - and you'll probably end up getting spammed). Ok - down to the nitty-gritty now that the Unreviewed queue to that category has loaded. You site is awaiting review in that category with under 200 other sites (but more than 150). It could be some time before your site is reviewed - sorry <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> Feel free to come back to THIS thread (i.e. do not start a new thread) in about a month's time if you want to know if there has been any progress.
  17. Can you please provide a clickable URL category path to any and ALL categories you attempted to submit to (i.e. in the format of http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/ ). If you could also explain what problems you experienced, then perhaps we can investigate the issue.
  18. Please have a look at the following threads also currently showing in "General ODP Issues" relating to this issue: Can't find site with keyword search Search database last updated... When? Updates of Dmoz's Search Index - could be Improved As detailed in several other threads in this forum, the ODP search engine normally updates on a weekly basis (after the RDF dump has been produced). Unfortently, due to technical difficulties, the RDF dump (and, therefore, the search engine database) has been been updated since the end of September. ODP staff are aware of this problem and have made it their highest priority to get it fixed. Things are looking even more hopeful of it being fixed within the fortnight (hopefully with the next few days).
  19. ===== Note to ALL enquirers: Please please please always provide the category path in a 'clickable' format. "Business: Consumer Goods"..." makes it difficult for an editor to access the directory to answer your question. In this situation, a previous editor had provided a quick way for me to access the category (by providing a clickable URL category path), but please remember in the future ===== Yes, your site is awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Jewelry/Diamond/Loose_Stones/Wholesale_and_Distribution/ (submitted 5 hours ago) along with less than half a dozen other sites. If your site is not listed in a month's time, please feel free to come back to THIS thread (do not launch a new thread for enquiries about the same site) and ask for another site submission status.
  20. Re: Update: www.mobiledestination.com Nope: it has previously been proposed on the internal ODP forums that the system sends out automatic notification emails, but this has not been implemented for various reasons (faked email addresses, submitters angry spam sites aren't accepted etc. etc.). Therefore, unless an editor decides to personally email the submitter, no notification of addition or rejection is made to the submitter. Most editors don't send out notifications as a) they've got better things to do (if you can imagine the additional time to cut'n'paste the email address, URL, category and then send the message) and b) quite a number of editors have been on the end of 'disgruntled submitters' and have warned others about being signed up to porn lists, mail bombed etc. "A few bad apples upset the entire apple cart" type of thing. As for why your site was rejected back in October - I'll be honest and say that I don't know. Whenever a site modification is made to the ODP database the editor is given the choice whether or not to include an 'editor note' which is visible to other editors looking at the site details - in this case the reviewing editor decided not to leave a note. I've placed it back into the unreviewed queue of Shopping/Consumer_Electronics/Communications/Wireless/Cellular_Phones/Accessories/M for re-review.
  21. It is NOT in the unreviewed queue of that category, nor is there any indication that it is listed elsewhere or otherwised 'touched' by an editor. Are you sure that is where you submitted?
  22. Re: Update: www.mobiledestination.com [correction] Sorry, I mis-read your URL. No, it is NOT in the unreviewed queue of that category. An editor felt that the content wasn't suitable for listing there. Sorry.
  23. Re: Update: www.mobiledestination.com The only statuses we can give are a) Not awaiting review in that category b) Listed in category X or c) Awaiting review. There is no other 'status' we can give. Sorry.
  24. Your site has been listed under the more appropriate category of http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Arizona/Localities/M/Mesa/Health/Dentistry (as the editor determined the place of business was Mesa) as "Pediatric Dental Specialists - Dentists for children and babies specializing in preventive dentistry, mouthguards, sealants, hospital dentistry, and education on daily dental care."
  25. We can only give a site submission status if you tell us which category you submitted to. Please include the category in a CLICKABLE URL format, for example: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England (just cut and paste the URL bar).
