http://www.guaranteed-proofreading-services.com was submitted in March and awaits an editor to review it in that category (along with over 200 other sites). Sorry!
-
Yep - it's now been received and it's awaiting an editor to review it along with around two dozen other sites in that category.

Re: URL Rejected? Perhaps because 7 consecutive posts by the same person was interpreted as an attempt to spam the forum? Clear, concise, on topic posts will probably not be deleted, but ones moderators/administrator perceive as 'rants' and the like will probably be deleted. (Disclaimer: I'm not a moderator/administrator of this forum). Once a decision has been made and agreed by editors in our own internal forums - then that is how the editors will work. If the editors decide that sites hosted on Yahoo! Stores will have the Yahoo! Stores URL (despite them having 'redirects'/'masked' domains and the like) listed - then that is how it is going to be. Yes, we are open to rational debate: but it's gotta be good and extremely convincing - to and from an editors point of view. If we can't see a d--n good reason for changing the status quo, then it won't be changed (as it'll involve thousands of editors changing the way they currently work).

It's awaiting review in that category with around 2 dozen other sites. It's also been listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_York/Localities/N/Nicholville/Business_and_Economy .
-
Please provide the category path in CLICKABLE URL format: e.g.: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/ .
-
See part two of my answer above. Basically, the ODP search system hasn't updated since late September and hence any additions or changes made since then have not been included in the search.
-
You only submitted on the 29th of November - please leave AT LEAST a month between submitting and asking for a status update. It's awaiting review with less than half-a-dozen other sites: time to review is anything from 5 minutes upwards.
-
It was listed in the above category on the 25th of November as 'Porn Porn DVD'. Ok: a couple of things about the ODP search. When you search from "outside" http://dmoz.org/Adult/ you will NOT receive listings of sites that are including in the Adult section UNLESS certain 'adult related' keywords are also search for (IIRC these include, but are not limited to: 'xxx', 'sex' and 'porn'). Searching from within http://dmoz.org/Adult/ WILL turn up ALL search results (Adult and non-Adult) no matter if you include or exclude the adult 'trigger words'. Secondly, as detailed many times on this board recently:
-
I've alerted an administrator to this thread so they can move it to the Adult/ forum: until that time, I'll not respond. I quote from this forum's guidelines: People who wish to access the 'Adult forum', please make your request in the "Access to the "Adult" Forum" thread in the 'Members Lounge'.
-
Can you please provide a clickable URL category path (in the format http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/ ) for each category where you submitted your site(s). Without the category, we are unable to give you a status update.
-
( http://dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/AudioVisual/Equipment/Audience_Response_Systems is the clickable URL path btw) 1: If you mean whether or not your site is a candidate for listing or not, then we need to know your URL. The best place to enquire would be this forum's "Site Submission Status" forum. If you want to find out if you are still a candidate to be an editor, we'll need to know which editor name you chose. 2: All I can say is the "listed editor" of that category had their editing rights removed at the end of October. However - I'm not going to say if they "timed out", quit or were removed. 3: Sometimes updates, like reviews, can take anything from a few minutes to several months depending on editor activity in that area. 4: As far as I know, there is no "complete listing" of active editors available to the public. If you want to contact someone "high up", you best look at the meta-editor list. But some advice before you do so: DO NOT contact anyone listed with 'root' (i.e. ODP staff) as they are very busy people and will probably just bounce any messages down to a 'meta' editor to handle. If you want to contact someone regarding abuse, look down that list for someone labelled 'meta' (if you look at this forum you'll see people with 'meta' under their names like I have 'editall/catmv'). To email them from the list, take their editor name (for example: beebware) and change this URL: http://dmoz.org/profiles/beebware.html and click on the 'Send to editor' link.
-
Yes they do, but it would have to know exactly which specific category you submitted to. Include the details as a clickable URL path in the form of: http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/
-
By the way, we are the Open Directory Project and not Google - therefore the category you really submitted to was: http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Advertising/Design_Services/Logo_and_Stationery/ . Luckily, since you provided a clickable URL path, it wasn't too bad (it's easier to just change http://directory.google.com/Top/ to http://dmoz.org/ then type an entire category path by hand) - so here's the status report Your site (submitted mid-October) is awaiting review in that category with less than 75 other sites.
-
Please read this forum's guidelines where it states: "Please note that posting in this forum will not lead to site listing in itself." Your site will be reviewed when it's reviewed - and not before then. This forum is NOT for "speeding up" reviewing of any sites (as we've got many many hundreds of other sites to review as well, as it'll be 'wrong' for us just to favour and 'express review' sites whose webmasters are just over eager to be lsited). The only possible scenerio that I can see that an editor speeds up listing is under "time critical categories" (for example the News categories) - but since those categories usually have dedicated editors which hunt out relevant sites, you probably will have no need to post here anyway. Oh - if you are thinking of submitting your site to one of those categories to 'speed up its listing' - don't. It won't help and could give your site the appearence of a spammer: and hence you will never be listed... Just have patience...If your site isn't reviewed in a months time, come back and ask for a status update (which will be 'accepted on XXX', 'rejected for listing' or 'still awaiting editor review').
-
What's your editor name then? Just so we can validate you as an 'editor member' on this board.
-
PLEASE PROVIDE CLICKABLE URL CATEGORY PATHS TO *ALL* SITE SUBMISSION ENQUIRIES. CUT AND PASTING THE URL BAR ISN'T HARD AND IT SAVES EVERYONE A LOT OF WORK! Your site is NOT awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Games/Internet/Browser_Based/Collections (as the reviewing editor noticed in November that your site probably did not have any original games on it that were worth listing). Your site IS awaiting review in http://dmoz.org/Games/Internet/Browser_Based/Directories/ along with around 50 others. Your site was also deleted from the unreviewed queue of http://dmoz.org/Games/Internet/Browser_Based/Arcade_Games/Specific_Titles/

Nothing. As detailed in several other threads in theis forum, the ODP search engine normally updates on a weekly basis (after the RDF dump has been produced). Unfortently, due to technical difficulties, the RDF dump (and, therefore, the search engine database) has been been updated since the end of September. ODP staff are aware of this problem and have made it their highest priority to get it fixed. Things are looking even more hopeful of it being fixed within the fortnight (hopefully with the next few days). Oh - and, when it is up to date, you won't find it by searching for any keywords. It only indexes your site title, the category and your site's description. It does not store any "keywords" or other data.

The category I selected at random was 'Spas' and 60% of the links returned on that page takes you to affiliate search results such as http://partner.ah-ha.com/Clickthroughs/redirect.aspx?cid=4... , http://click.alltheweb.com/go2/2/atw/1c456A814D/MSxILHdlYg... , http://partner.ah-ha.com/Clickthroughs/redirect.aspx?cid=4... .
-
Hmm, since a random check of your site reveals around 60% of the links to be affiliate links, your site is unlikely to be listed. It was deleted from the unreviewed queue of Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/Pay-Per-Click/Content-Specific and removed from Computers/Internet/Searching/Search_Engines/Specialized/Pay-Per-Click/Small-Scale_Pay-Per-Click in September for being mainly affiliate links.
-
Your site is awaiting review in that category with less than 300 other sites. It was submitted on the 20th of November btw.
-
Looking at it, your main focus seems to be providing web site hosting. The UNIX Shell categories are probably aimed at organisations whose prime focus is providing shell facilities (i.e. not web hosting).
-
Your may find the New Permissions document useful - although Windharp has answered your question
-
Your site is the only one awaiting review in that category.
-
Hmm, I see your point. The first username you selected isn't recorded as an editor. You are ticking the 'No' box to: "Have you ever been an ODP editor before? Please note that providing false information on your application may result in removal of your editing account." aren't you? Do you know if your email address has been used for an editor application in the past?
-
Basically an existing editor already exists with the same name as your entered (hence the system "recognises" you as an editor requesting account reactivation). Try using a different editor name.
