You application is in the queue waiting for review

I'm not seeing anything in the queue for that category. If you didn't receive the email response to confirm your email address, then the application probably didn't go through. Sorry - better try again.

But we're not really concerned with listing every web site in the world. We're basically committed to building a comprehensive directory of quality web sites. So if people submit their web site for inclusion in the directory, that's great, but it really isn't the main focus of the ODP to list every user submitted web site in the world

You're now an editor

And it is once again listed in Society: Issues: Environment: Directories I'm not really sure what happened there, but it's back.

Re: date format Canada maybe, but not this Canadian I didn't even realize that we had any type of standard here. I just use whatever I happen to use on any given day - I imagine that a lot of people are like that. It would be nice if there was some type of global standard being used, but I can't imagine the world ever agreeing on anything, never mind date formats

Re: dash publishing As far as I can see, you originally submitted your site to http://dmoz.org/Adult/Shopping/Nonsurgical_Penis_Enhancement and it was published there in Nov 2000. I would imagine that when you were resubmitting it to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Reproduction_and_Sexuality/Penis_Enlargement the editors there were seeing that the site was already in Adult and were asumming that it was listed appropriately. I would have assumed that. I'm not an expert on sites listed in Adult, so maybe one of the editors in that area who frequents this forum can tell us why this site is more appropriate in the Adult section. If not, then maybe it needs to be moved to a more appropriate category.
-
ODP handles Adult sites differently than that search engine you mention If you go to http://dmoz.org/Adult/ and enter your search string, and select 'Only in Adult' from the drop-down, you will see your site.

Your application is in the queue waiting for review. You must have received and replied to the email confirmation or it wouldn't be in the queue.

Your application is still there. A month is not a long time to wait

Re: What Happened to our listing? Seems that in January you sent in an update request to have your site moved to the higher level Sporting Goods category. It was moved and is currently waiting to be reviewed in that category.

Post away You now have access to the Adult forum.

Re: Any updates? Doesn't look like I'm going to be making your day The good news is that it's still in the queue waiting for review. The bad news is that there are a lot of sites in that queue waiting for review -

I suspect that your application was rejected as I'm not seeing any application in the queue for 'stampman', or for any stamp related categories. I'm a little confused about what you applied for. What was the exact category that you applied for? You mention being outside of the US. Your profile here shows Sweden. Have a look at World: Svenska: Nöjen och fritid: Samlande: Frimärken. That looks like a good category to start in if you want to apply again.

You're assuming that we've never discussed this and other issues before You can't imagine the stuff we talk about in the internal forums. Ideas get bounced around all the time. Some of them get implemented, some don't. Sometimes it's because of resources, other times it's because the consensus is that it's not a great idea at the moment. For the most part the system works. Don't assume from the posts in this unofficial forum that every applicant is being rejected or that there is a problem with the way the system works. You are seeing a small part of what really happens with editor applications. No one would disagree that there could be enhancements made, but I think as has already been pointed out, they will be made when we think we need them or when we have the resources to do it. From an outside perspective it may seem like things are brokem, but really they're not. There are some glitches here and there, but really it's a small percentage of the applications that are processed in a day. And back to that quality vs. quantity issue. We really do strive for quality over quantity. Don't forget that the ODP is supposed to be a directory of quality web sites. Because there are some admitted benefits to being listed in the ODP it has become a serious goal for many people to be listed, but it's really not our goal. We just want to have a directory of quality content. We may not have achieved that goal yet, but we're not in a huge rush
