1. No no, not your's. It's the word "our", or anything done in pairs. Since editor's can't have more than one log-in, or share a log-in, the use of that word makes me do a double take. In this case it was nothing, so everything is fine .
2. Sorry, that sort of comment always raises my meta "someone is doing bad things!" flag. Just being cautious.
3. "our"?
4. Editors: How to be set as an editor To have your title changed from "Member" to "Editor" and to view the private editor-only forum all ODP editors need to have an Admin modify their account. This is important because the private forum can contain up-to-date information on dmoz.org server problems*, so if you can't login and want to know why, it's the place to look. But you can't see it unless you're an ODP editor, so to get this done please do the following steps: fill out the section on your profile that asks for your ODP editor name; post your request in the Member to Editor thread in the Members Lounge forum. We do attempt to change everyone as they join, however, with over 1000 registered users we do miss some. Your requests help us out. Thanks! * Server problems that affect the general public can, and would, be discussed in the public forums. The editor-only forum would only contain information on server issues that affect editors only and not users.

5. Actually no, that wouldn't be the case. I can't look into the situation further though because dmoz.org is down at the moment. It isn't an e-mail problem though.
6. btw. Zeal's guidelines are different than ours, and they tend to write in a style different than we do as well. Though their style isn't wrong by our guidelines, it isn't favoured either. The difference is in the way they start a description generally: Zeal-like: "Find photos, information on cows, and a journal." ODP-like: "Contains photos, information on cows, and a journal." Slight difference, but there you are. You're descriptions don't have to be perfect to be accepted though, be sure your spelling and grammar are good, and that you fill out the application completely. Also read the tips at the top of this forum. Next time you apply tell us the editor name and category. We can't garrantee you'll be accepted, but if one of the regulars here see it we can at least give you more concrete advice. Good luck, your dedication and desire is admirable, I hope you make it.
7. I'm not sure what hutch is saying.. some sort of IE bashing I think. There are no applications from anyone names kraskin. If you can try using a different browser. You can update IE 5 to IE6, or download Mozilla or Netscape. Both are free, and you can always delete them after if you don't want to keep them.
8. Re: Will I be notified when my site is listed or n professionaltaste.com is listed in the following category: http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Stationery/ Though it isn't the category you submitted to, the editors looking at it decided the stationary category was a better fit for it.
9. You're application is not in the queue. So either you haven't replied to the confirmation e-mail, or it was rejected without feedback (which is one of our options). Feel free to apply again, I'm at work so I'm not going to check the size of the category you applied for (don't want to get fired ), but try to find some around or below 100 sites. Be honest in your affiliations and check your spelling and grammar. Good luck.
10. Okay, all above are done.
11. No problem (I saw you reading this thread in the "Who's Online" section ), all above done too.
12. If you can let us know what category it is you applied to we can have a look and see if what apeuro discribes was the case (most likely) or if there was something else about the category that might explain that rejection reason. In the mean time you can always apply to different category. Perhaps in a different area: a hobby; your line of work; favorite author, band, game, or recipe; or your home town for example.
13. Ah shucks . I usually have "Dork" at the end of my list of titles there.. have to keep a little humility in there somewhere among all those awards. Had to remove dork though 'cause I applied to a job which might look at my profile and I don't want to look silly.
14. Yjsync, what editor name did you pick? I looked for "yjsync" and didn't see you in the queue.
15. Two words: selfless dedication. Sounds kinda grand but that's really what it boils down to. You want to see the directory grow and improve and are dedicated to making it happen. Throw in some good people skills, the ability to help others without ticking them off, and being good at finding and reporting abuse. Of course knowledge of the directory, the larger picture, ontology, and great editing are all factors too, but that's the editall stage more than the meta. No one jumps right from category editor to meta, there are steps between, 2 to 3 depending on the person. Personally I became an editall/catmv after 1.5 years, then a meta 3 or 4 months later.
16. No, not at all. Internet experience and websites is not required. We ask for your Internet experience to just learn more about you and how much help you'll need in regards to technical issues. We ask for your websites so that we know what sites your affiliated with. You see some people abuse their position in the directory in order to get a better listing for their site(s) in search engines. We want to know what sites you're connected to so we can prevent or stop abuse. So, no worries.
17. I know arkoid. I was going to say something much meaner, but then I remembered most people reading this don't know we're friends!
18. Edited out 'cause I mis-read your post.
19. I'm half-done and tripping over my feet eh? hmm.. I'm Scorpio.
20. >> If you only deal with UK companies, you won't be listed outside of the Regional category. << That's actually an incorrect statement. To be listed in a global, or what we refer to as "topical" category, your location doesn't matter, nor the location or scope of your client base. - enarra ODP Meta Editor
21. >> . I'm just wondering if subsequent applications would be considered spam. << More than likely we won't even notice you applied more than once (unless you do so in a very short time period). There are over 100 meta editors, and hundreds of applications every week. It's rare for us to remember every application we see, indeed I've done literally thousands and if yours was one of them I couldn't tell ya. Point being, apply again if you want. Certainly doesn't hurt and hopefully you'll get it right sooner rather than later. Good luck! - enarra PS. Wait for a rejection, or at least 2 weeks before applying again. Don't want to end up accepted to two editor names by mistake (yes, it's happened before).
22. Re: Editor Status Already done, before you posted even.
23. Hmm... guess which one I am. (btw. shouldn't this have gone in the Members Lounge or something?)
24. Re: Editor Status All done so far.
25. Hmm well the number of people online is indeed at the bottom, but it only shows the number, whereas before it showed the names across the top, which I really liked. I also liked the newest member at the top, and I miss the little folders (instead of the big light bulbs). SEF flash backs or something I guess. btw. having the new member and the names at the top made things just slightly easer for me to catch new editors and fix their member statis -- that's one of the main reasons I don't like the new format, but a reason that is pretty much limited to me only. Oh and while I'm being a downer.. I wish we had the internal ODP smilies.. these ones kinda scare me --> (looks kinda.. pervertish or something )
