1. There may be a delay in your listing as Recreation/Boating is currently undergoing a reorganization and I have been concentrating on moving sites instead of reviewing new listings. Trouble is I have not been very active on carrying this out as "real" life has me tied up at the moment. There are other editors which are able to edit in this category so you are not waiting on me. Also, I visited the site in question and you need to resize and compress the home page image as even on broadband connection the 2.34 mb image is heavy to say the least I usually do not give advice about site design as I believe this forum was not intended for that purpose - I'm making an exception
2. Nope, the craziness starts if/when you are accepted -Dave
3. Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yesterday "Don't delete them" - "Them" happens to be you Sorry, when two listings are by the same company, in the same categories, and doing the same "type" of work (web design/development), one of them has to go. It doesn't matter if the domains are different or not. I suggest you combine your services on one site. What would happen if all of the designers/developers had a seperate domain for each of their services and were all listed in the directory? Hope you see our point
4. Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yeste Jim, Thanks - I tried but received the following message: This post can no longer be edited because the maximum edit time has expired Not sure if one of the admins want to change it -Dave ---- Fixed.
5. Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yesterday Just wanted to say that I do have the Google Toolbar installed, but no I don't use it to consider sites while editing. OT but your site shows PR5 on my Toolbar. Also, which site do you want to stay? {edited: I left http://5url.com/}
6. Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yesterday I'm sure you realize that your site and it's listings have nothing to do with Google or PR. It is very unusual that web designers/developers get deeplinks to services offered. I would say that more than likely someone had just noticed your site listed. Rules have changed I'm sure over the past two years. Question: I would like to know which site you want to stay? http://tcfb.com/internet/ listed in Basic_Service or http://5url.com/ that is listed in Dynamic_and_Multimedia ?
7. I just took a quick look at www.charterpartner.com and I see what I believe to be links to all of your sites/languages on the homepage. Currently Recreation/Boating/ is under reorganization (including Recreation/Boating/Charters/). I don't believe your site will get 17 listings IMHO if that's what you're asking. I did not review your site or check the links for affiliations (if any) . I would be very patient in this case. {edited: 10 sites to 17 sites)
8. Today is backup day, so the system grinds to a halt. Spent the last half-hour selecting duplicates etc. in unreviewed to delete only to be greeted by a white screen {edited: There are now approximately 30 less sites in the unreviewed queue....)
9. I would say that you submitted to the correct category. I did have to look through your site to find that you do offer services that would allow placement in this category and found these under your recommended hosting services. If you can implement all/most of the services offered by the recommended hosting service you belong in /Full_Service Your site is in the queue of 200 + other of which quite a few are duplicates etc. I will clear out the duplicates today once editing picks back up to speed It may be quite a while before your site is listed so I would suggest submitting to your Regional location.
10. Can't find an appropriate thread So, did you lose anything with RZ being down yesterday? Great job of getting it back up and running
11. I think the donate button would work as long as it was hyperlinked to Become an Editor. I think that's the best donation one can give if they really want to help
12. Re: adding to topic beebware, I agree completely and so have I on W2K without any problems. This machine is Win98. Have gone over every setting and cannot figure it out. Shut it down and it works fine - start it and it does not. Tried setting it "low" and still won't work even with simple formmail forms that I set up. This user cannot use forms on most sites.
13. Re: adding to topic I wanted to add that I know a person that is using the latest version of ZoneAlarm Pro that has a lot of problems submitting forms (formmail) of many types. If she shuts down ZA she can submit forms, if not, she cannot. I have gone over all the settings comparing with my own older version and they all seem OK - cannot figure it out. I have even created simple forms that do not request the IP and/or user_agent and she still gets errors. Not sure what ZA is doing but it is certaily the problem in her case. Just wondered if any of these submitters are using the latest ZA?
14. Re: WebSite Submission Status Please? http://doors2go.com/ : I believe your site should/will be moved to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Home_Improvement/Building_Materials/Doors/ as the business categories are primarily for manufacturers.
15. Re: Assuming no response = admitting the truth Editor hat is removed Todd, Doug, or Judd (whatever your real name is) You are correct it would be very hard for anyone to prove anything since your whois data is false and there isn't any sort of contact information on your site (not even on your privacy policy). Whois lists one name, telephone number from whois lists another, and yet you are going by another name on this site. I don't think this site should be listed for these reasons alone (false information, no contact info). How would this site benefit a user or add value to the ODP ? There is no way for anyone to contact you on your site that I have found - scary. The ODP reserves the right not to include any site at its discretion and this may be one of the few times I agree with that 100%. I would never give my Credit Card info to a company like this. My 2-cents edited: I just noticed the title of this message Assuming no response = admitting the truth it's very ironic you would title as such.
16. Uhmm.. I believe your company is listed several places under tenkillermarine.com. You should not be listed under boatpartstore.com as you are one in same company.
17. jcomerford, I can only tell you that shopping sites will not be listed under Recreation/Boating. As I do not have privileges for the shopping category you will have to wait for an editor that does or editall+ to view where you are in the shopping queue
18. Wow, does this mean we have a new editor in Recreation/Boating I sure will enjoy this. You are correct in stating that the category needed a Multihulls subcat. There is currently a proposal to reorganize the Recreation/Boating category and editors may look at the proposal in the internal Recreation forums. Take Care, Dave
19. As kctipton stated, they can be sent to your favorite Meta editor and they will be taken care of (probably the best way so no-one takes offence) . Dave
20. motsa, Uhgg! didn't see two .au domains the first time Thanks for correcting me
21. Old Crone, They don't have 11 - they have 12 including a blank page with three links to other areas of their site/services and a redirect or so http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=ihr.com They seem to be pretty involved in web development so they will probably be submitting there soon.
22. Grumpus, It helps if you do post the URL
23. Re: status http://www.heavenlytreasures.com/ It is and has been on their "contact" and "about us" pages
24. Re: http://www.molon.de/galleries/Egypt_Jan01/page I believe this is one of those subjects that are based upon editor discretion. As I have stated repeatedly this has nothing to do with “you” personally. There is no need for me to comment further. [Edited: I would agree with wkallander on listing the site.] Take Care, Dave
25. Re: http://www.molon.de/galleries/Egypt_Jan01/page I did not say you were advertising the photos for sale on your site. I have noticed elsewhere you were posting of selling your photos and asking what you should charge. If you would like I can post a link to these posts of yours. This is irrelevant << Many sites listed in DMOZ are a fraction of a MB in size and consist of a few pages. >> and size does “not” come into the decision to list a site or not – except in extreme cases such as a site consisting of “This is my page” and that’s the only content. This is also irrelevant << This site is significant - it is ranked Nr. 1 in Google for this specific digital camera and a number of keywords.>> And yes, it would normally be considered a deeplink. Let’s be honest here – how much is the directory used as a search engine and how many times do users actually drill down to a specific category. And I do not agree if you create one large content rich site - "nobody will find it".
