We do not delete quality sites from the directory. You did the right thing by submitting an update request - it is the proper procedure. I would not worry too much about where you are listed in the ODP as very few people use it to search. The important thing is that you are listed - imho.

It would help us extremely if you actually put a link to the category you submitted to instead of Top: Business: Training and Schools: Business Development frankly, the idea of drilling down the category tree is not great motivation to check the status. The easier you make it for us the faster we can reply.

You are currently in the unreviewed que in http://dmoz.org/editors/editcat.cgi?cat=Shopping/Health/Pharmacy/Online_Pharmacies and there does not appear to be a large backlog there. My advice is to give it another month and if you are not listed by then follow up in this thread. Hope this helps -

Ack - I did not notice that the main site was in Shopping, I thought it was in Sports. It can only have one listing in Shopping. Disregard my above advice. Sorry.

I don't know about that - I looked at your store and I think you might qualify for listing in Shopping Sports. The main category has over a thousand unreviewed though so unless you can find a specialized category for it might take a while. I noticed that you developed some playbookmanager software and have a nice little section of information on it. Lots of content - neat site. If you cannot get your main store in you might consider submitting that site somewhere in shopping.

Those dns records are public information.

That category has a backlog of over 1000 sites. Are you sure you cannot find a more specific category for your site in the directory? If you had an address on your site you would qualify for a Regional listing. My suggestion would be to add an address to the site and submit to Regional and/or find a more specific category for your site in the Business category. You can have both a listing in Business and Regional - that type of double listing is encouraged.

Your site is in the que waiting for review. There is no backlog in that category but I do not have an estimate on how long it will take due to the volunteer nature of the directory. Hope this helps -

It is up to the editor who reviews you site whether they will send an email confirmation - it is not automatic - and hardly any editors do it. There is no telling how long it will take. 270 unreviewed sounds like a backlog to me so it might be a while. You can always apply to be an editor - http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Sports/Soccer/ is really too large for a new editor but I am sure any of the subcategories below it would be happy to have you /images/icons/smile.gif

The site you asked about shows to have never been submitted to the directory. There is no record of it at all. Looks like something went wrong with the site submission process. You should try submitting again.

I was never able to click I agree on either of your web hosting sign up pages. I agree with theseeker that the site will be judged on its own merit but should fix those links before you submit. You should always wait until your site is totally finished and ready to go before you submit to a human edited directory like dmoz. Hope this helps -

I would not worry about it that much as the description will probably be redone anyway. I would just wait until you get listed and if you see a problem with your description you can request changes using the update url function. Remember, the description you submit is just a suggestion and it will most likely be rewritten by the editor reviewing the site.

In order for a site to be listed in Shopping it must sell something from the site. If the only way to buy the product is through an affiliate link the site does not qualify for shopping and will not be listed. Basically, you need your OWN shopping cart to get a listing in Shopping. Sites for information about books or authors go somewhere in http://dmoz.org/Arts/Literature/ You are going to need quality unique content to get a listing in Arts - any affiliate links are going to count against you so make sure that you concentrate on your unique content and not on the affiliate links. Here is a hint, when looking for the proper category look for your competition or sites like yours. You could have done a search on dmoz.org on web hosting and that category would have shown prominently. Search is your friend /images/icons/smile.gif

Exactly what category did you submit to? Your site is not waiting to be reviewed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Music/Related_Merchandise/Gifts/ and it appears the url you mentioned has never been touched. My advice would be to resubmit. If you look at the very bottom of the category it will show the last activity (feb 2002 at this time) and there are around 60 sites waiting. The Shopping branch of dmoz is understaffed and there is a huge amount of unreviewed and constant submissions. Patience is going to be virtue in this case I believe. You know we are always looking for fresh meat... I mean new volunteers editors /images/icons/wink.gif

I looked at your site and could not find where you sold anything online so I do not think it is a candidate for shopping. If you submitted it to a shopping category this is going to probably cause a delay as it will have to moved to the proper category (or the category where the editor thinks it goes) and if the editor cannot edit there it will go right back into the unreviewed que again. I looked at your site and it appears to have not been touched but I also looked into the category you submitted to and your site is not even in the unreviewed que. You should resubmit your site - probably to the Business/Industries/Food_and_Related_Products/Beverages you mentioned as it seems to be a better fit. Good Luck and Hope this Helps -
