  1. For a "UK specific directory for the Event and entertainment industry" it seems to have a few gaps. For example, I really don't believe there are no bands, marquees or bouncy castles for hire in the SE - I've listed boat loads. No event managers or stationary there either. I've just spent 5 minutes exploring the SE through your directory and found no listings at all. Didn't find anything in Scotland either. We have a saying in ODP "Content is king" - which likely explains why you haven't been listed thus far. When most of your categories have several entries, please resubmit.
  2. Well since your range of services is rather wider than nettery, don't be surprised if the editors shift it back to where I first suggested.
  3. Had you also thought of submitting to Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/West_Yorkshire/Leeds/Business_and_Economy where there are two active county editors and the queues are relatively short?
  4. Indeed. From the phone number, ../UK/../Gainsborough possibly. http://www.funnyfashion.co.uk/ is also a team member.
  5. With the same contact details on all of them, they look to be all part of the same organisation. A business doesn't get multiple listings just because it chooses to spread its website across several domain names. Had you thought of also submitting to your locality? This is concealed at the moment, but you could easily add an address to your contact page.
  6. Re: www.inform-link.co.uk - UK regional Now listed in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Computers/Software/Business/ . Sorry not to have completed the job immediately, but real life interrupted for a few hours.
  7. At the UK side of things, it was in a short queue which I've now cleared except for your site. Because your home page leads with general IT and the about us page doesn't mention web development at all, the submission has been moved to http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Computers/Software/ . Nothing to do with your submission, but you might like to change pavillion to pavilion - unless that was Toyota's version of course <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />.
  8. Re: Site was listed for 2 years then removed yeste Dave, you might want to remove } from the url <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" /> [fixed]
  9. Ummm, hardly a novice, I'm an ODP editor <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />. Whether or not you intended that exe to run on my machine, IE6 certainly thought you did and asked my permission. Whatever. Thanks for taking our comments on board and making appropriate changes. It's now listed in Cambridge. Oh, and it now works in Mozilla 1.2.1 so I didn't have to use IE again <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />
  10. Yes, I'm the editor that canned it in Cambridge for just those reasons back in December. I couldn't see any useful content or contact details in 2 different browsers and I wasn't about to welcome alien exes. Still, it's back in the queue there and I'm sure somebody will revue it eventually.
  11. It was published in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Motoring/Directories on 26th November.
  12. It's already listed in Stratford on Avon, but there is no history of it ever having been submitted to or rejected from http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Music_and_Film/Instruments/ The site has clear product descriptions and prices, but I couldn't find any obvious ordering instructions. All three of these are requirements for listing in a UK level shopping category and I suggest that you clarify this before resubmitting. Just a clear statement on how to order is fine - you don't need a shopping cart. You'll be glad to know that the category has an active editor and that the queue there is short. Added:- Dontcha just hate it when that happens? Darned beebware and uzs980 <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />
  13. Re: http://www.mardiros.net/scotland/edinburgh.htm We'd normally prefer to just list the parent http://www.mardiros.net/scotland in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Scotland/Travel_and_Tourism rather than list it's individual pages in their localities. Your Edinburgh submission is still in the queue but the whole site's situation is now under discussion.
  14. What motsa said - no question. However, inexperienced editors might mistake the bike shop for a deep link and decline it <img src="/images/icons/shocked.gif" alt="" />. This can be rectified later of course, but it's hassle and delay. I'd suggest not taking your proposed approach.
  15. The most important phrase in the rejection is "Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor.." It means you are thought generally capable of doing the job but, as others have said, it's preferred not to start you off in a sensitive category. Please don't take it as criticism of your application, writing style or integrity. I suggest that you begin in a small Regional category - your hometown maybe or one of its subcategories. There you can learn your craft and prove yourself. If you succeed in this, gaining further permissions can be rapid. Jim <img src="/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />
  16. The Salford one, submitted 19th September, is still in a short queue. I don't have access to the Coatings cat, but it's presumably still there because your site hasn't been processed by any editor yet. Please be patient; we'll get to them.
  17. It's in a very short queue there awaiting further revue. It was only submitted on 7th November; please be patient.
  18. Well done Corinne - have fun <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />
  19. Re: Suggetion for Catagory Your site has no ODP history and has not yet been looked at by an editor. It looked to me as though you submitted to the correct topical and regional categories. There's no point submitting elsewhere because the editor should just send your site back again. I can't see the queue of the first category, but I can the second. You're site wasn't in its short queue, but I've put it there <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />. Somebody will get to your site eventually, but I cannot predict when that will be. Best thing is to be patient.
  20. Yeah it's still there in amongst a few tens of other sites. Just be patient and we'll get to it eventually. No point in resubmitting <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />.
  21. Re: http://www.rubylane.com/shops/hands-me-down ...well it does make editing a tad tricky when you can't easily get to the editing screen <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />.
  22. Re: status http://www.heavenlytreasures.com/ Yes it does <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />.
  23. You were invited to read our submission guidelines at http://dmoz.org/add.html during the submission process. They state "Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is complete before submitting it. Sites that are incomplete, contain "Under Construction" notices, or contain broken graphics or links aren't good candidates for the directory." Your site says "Oops! Sorry this section is still under development" in at least one place. Hmmmm. There are no recent editor notes about the site, but it was declined from Recreation/Travel/Reservations/Lodging back in March because it didn't work.
  24. Wisdom and the ability to walk on water are also useful <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />. [Edit: and please note the way that we were all poised to answer within minutes]
  25. I'd think the metas would need some bullying also - it's not an ideal starter category for a newbie <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />. Any road up, The site is additionally eligible for a listing in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Bromley/Beckenham/Business_and_Economy/. The last update there was only three weeks ago and the queue is empty, so it could have been listed by now<img src="/images/icons/ooo.gif" alt="" />. Dunno when the next update will be, but the local editors are pretty active.
