Re: Site Visits but no listing and for "tulip": Beside the fact that there might be an editor named like this, if you see something with "tulip" in your logs, it might be that someone used one of the powertools named "tulipchain" to do some general checking and fixing on unreviewed entries.

Re: Application 4 adult ( Since I don't know anything about new-editor applications in Adult-part of the ODP I leave the question open for someone else /images/icons/smile.gif ) Only one thing to say: If you are editor in a specific category you are there to edit all entries in that category. If your own site happens to be in there of course you edit it, too. But - I think everyone understands this - it should be treated as every other entry. And of course dishonest editors are not welcome, so please state all affiliations to sites if applying for any category.

You ar totally right. Still waiting for an editor to review with 11 other sites.

Tschuldigung, ich meinte mit Robo "Robozilla/1.0" /images/icons/smile.gif- Hab ehrlich gesagt Deinen Nic nicht gelesen - Misverständnis - Asche über mein Haupt /images/icons/wink.gif

To be precise yout submission is from 24/Apr/2002 /images/icons/smile.gif There are three submissions in that category waiting for review, but there is no active editor in Monaco. So it may take some time till its listed.
-

I dont thionk you wont get any more information than this: * A listing in Regional/ part is based on the fact that a company or site is of interest for locality. For example a company with a website, the only usefull content is "I got a company in xyz with 5 employees" can be usefull to those searching a job in that particulat town in that particular type of company :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif * affiliate sites are NOT listed at their topic. Please reread other threads in this forum to the same topic. Yours is no affiliate site? Sorry, but I would consider sites containing phrases like "We authorize MortgageCreditProblems.com and/or its affiliates" and posting a form to "https://www.myaffiliateprogram.com/u/money/form.asp" as mentioned above really are.

Its still waiting for someone to review it with about 80 others in that category.

@theseeker: (Ok, Ok, I meant thehelper. Am not drunk or anything, just read to many posts I guess - lol) Quoting myself: "... why someone might have been thinking ...". I thought I made clear that I meant that I was speaking about former times, when the site was not what it is now. Just trying to find an explanation for a possible misrejection. I cant judge since when the site is in its present state - Can you? English is not my native language so I just looked up some grammatical sites which told me I was right /images/icons/smile.gif Maybe it would have been better to write "why someone maybe had been thinking" but to me that sounds wrong /images/icons/smile.gif

Hmmm... In the category there are only 2 submissions waiting. But in the whole Alphabet thats in Domain-Registration there are quite a big bunch of unreviewed sites. It might take a lot of time, very sorry to say that...
-
There is one waiting with 300+ other sites. Sorry to say, but time to review might be not to short there...
-
Sorry to bother you again. Just did a check at archive.org to find out why someone might have been thinking that it was an affiliate-farm back some time. To all people who want to have a look at it, please look at http://web.archive.org/web/20010927092420/http://shoppersfair.com/ I don't think I have to comment on that.

Just a late comment: >.. has a cookie that states they we in Yahoo Shopping in the past 30 days. Only for the logs: A very active editor reviews tons of sites in 30 days. So most editors will see those image /images/icons/wink.gif And as the other editors stated I said it might make some editors _think_ ts a yahoo-affiliate. I agreed with the post before mine that it doesnt look like an affiliate-shop to me...
-
Didnt know either but started digging deep in our archives to look for the reason. /images/icons/smile.gif Fairly simple, same reason as I thought myself: It's turned off because we don't want to list any more sites in these cat, there are appropriate subcats for all entries. So --> Please find the appropriate subcat for your site and submit it there.
-
Hmmm... You should already have received feedback about the site when you submitted it last year. To me it looks as if you should reread ODP guidelines about "affiliate links" and not listing sites that primarily consist of them. And something not related: I for myself hate site doing popups, popunders and so on. Not very good style /images/icons/frown.gif

Got a private message over forum-form yesterday and no mail about it. The box in my profile is marked, so it should notify me... Is it possible the mailer is not working or unable to use @dmozed.org mailadresses?

Just some thoughts on that site after looking at it myself. it seems to be a real shop to me, just some explanation why someone having a short look might think its a affiliate-site: 1) Yahoo Shopping image upper left (I dont know when you put this...) - shop itself is at http://store.yahoo.com/minderson/index.html . 2) Pictures are for example at http://store2.yimg.com/I/minderson_1690_2671983 But since Yahoo offers hosting of webstores I dont see a problem with that myself.

Hmmm kctipton, I dont think that answers the question, does it? So I'll try /images/icons/smile.gif Reasons for this you can see in kctiptons post. 1) DMOZ does not scan your site. It takes only the entry you can see in the category. And this entry is not for being searchable but for giving the information to the user that the editor thinks the user needs. So please dont make a "change URL"-request requesting the addition of keywords. Wont be processed anyway. 2) If search terms that appear in your listing are not found ba DMOZ search please consider that search-engine is database-based /images/icons/smile.gif And this database isnt updated to often. Time of last update is shown below any page of search results. 3) DMOZ search-engine isnt state-of-the-art. If you want to get relevant information about siterankng for keywords use downstream-datausers like Google. In a cataloge it is sufficient if search finds a category that fits your search-term. Finding all sites in a category isnt really needed. Hope that helped :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif

Re: Submission Status Are you sure you submitted exactly that URL to exactly that category? I cant see your entry waiting there but it wasnt touched yet either... Maybe resubmit to the mentioned category if you think your site fits it...
-
You did submit to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/California/Localities/M/Mill_Valley/Travel_and_Tourism/ Google is not running an own directory Our little penguins say that your submission is from 05/Jun/2002 /images/icons/smile.gif

Re: Hellooooo... is anyone there? Just some things you could have figured out yourself: 1) The category page says at the moment: "Last update: 21:03 PT, Saturday, June 1, 2002" - This is the last date someone touched something inside the main category you mentioned. 2) There is a listed editor in the category: Category editor: rise2it Both things would have been available to you from the category page itself.
-
Your site is still waiting for review together with more than 100 other sites. Even with the active editor in there it will take some time, till all unreviewed are processed.
-
Please have a look at http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Virginia/Localities/H/Herndon/Business_and_Economy/Services

[in Addition to that what hutcheson said] You should switch to another expert /images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif General: If no category exists that fits your site (would maybe be something like .../Gaming/Communities - didnt check for it) there will be no problem listing two deeplinks in the appropriate categorys if * editors see content. That is no "under construction" signs, empty pages, ... * content is unique (that is not copied, mirrored, ... from anywhere else) And remember: Since ODP is no Seach Engine, there is no need to do Search-Engine-Optimization. From your post I think you know how a review is done /images/icons/smile.gif >Personally I do not agree. I think a DMOZ editor would look at each (o.k., maybe a few) articles and see that each site has the content which is unique and SPECIFIC to the game in question. --> You know why it takes so long to review all the entries submitted to ODP? Because you are right :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif Btw: If as login should be required to review your site you could pre-generate an account and include information in your submissions. And please dont delete the testaccount, so any editor wanting to re-review the site later will get in without any problems. (Editor will leave a note with the information needed to get in if you provide it with your submission)

Even if that wont help you much: I dont have any problems and am editing for hourts now...
