Once upon a time we had 10 sites listed on dmoz; now there are none.
Some examples:
1
http://www.cancunsteve.com/mayan.htm in Science: Social Sciences: Archaeology: Topics: Archaeoastronomy: Mayan

2
http://www.cancunsteve.com/canmap4.htm in a sub-directory now removed
this url is a map of the Quintana Roo coast

3
http://www.cancunsteve.com/killkill.html in society/politics/humor

4
http://www.cancunsteve.com/puertorico.html in Regional: Caribbean: Puerto Rico: Travel and Tourism

What happened ?

another important url deleted from the directory

this is a 5th example
http://www.cancunsteve.com/guadalupe.htm
this url is about the miracle of the Virgin of Guadalupe in central Mexico but the sub-directory in which it resided has dissapeared from the dmoz directory
the closest thing now seems to be Society: Religion and Spirituality: Christianity: Denominations: Catholicism: People: Personal Pages

Of your 5 examples, all but number 4 are listed in ODP.

We do reorganise our categories from time to time and move listings around. No website is guaranteed a permanent listing.

Now, you have at least 4 deeplinks listed and this is unusually many. Let's hope nobody else notices :) .

Which begs the question of why you feel they are not listed... where are you looking?

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me. In the past search by domain name was possible. That this no longer is the case 'threw me'. I did indeed find 3 of the urls. However this one http://www.cancunsteve.com/canmap4.htm alludes me.
Again thanks so much and keep up the good work of the directory.
Best regards
Steve

Thank you for taking the time to reply . I searched by domain name which worked once upon a time. When this time around I entered my domain name and zero results came back I figured everything was removed. However this is not the case. JimNoble was kind enough to point out some of my urls are listed. Subsequently I searched for them via category and found them. Thanks so much!

The ODP Search facility has not been working for the last few weeks now.

If the new RDF is all that it takes to fix it, then it will be working tomorrow.

If there is some deeper problem, then it might be weeks before it functions again.

Generally, it's only webmasters and editors who use ODP search to look for URLs. Sane civilians won't be searching for URLs because if they know them, they don't need to :) .

Not looking for URL?

I was interested to see the statement that looking for a URL was not reasonable. I thought I had to do that to ensure that I wasn't already listed. Is there another way to do that? I have applied three or four times over the past year and as far as I can tell, I've never been listed. I came onto the forum to see if I could figure out what the problem is. Now I suspect I may have done something wrong right off the bat by using search to look for my url. If someone can set me straight on that, I can ask the next level of question.

In preparation for submitting a site, searching for the domain to see if it is already in the ODP is a very good first step; as a submitter, you are one of the very few people that Jim alludes to for whom searching for an URL is useful.

General users of the ODP will never use search to look for an URL: if they know the URL already, there's no need for them to search for it.

The only people who ever search for URLs are those people who want to find out where a particular URL is located in the directory, ie. submitters and editors.

Normally using search for a URL is ok, but it seems to have suffered a major setback. Stay tuned, it will be posted in Bugs and Features when it's fixed.

Yes Jim I do agree users of the directory do not need this type of search. As a webmaster it's an expedient means to see if a url is already listed to avoid inadvertent duplication regarding that url. The webmaster may not know the category the url is in.

I concur 100%. IT also helps webmasters to quickly avoid inadvertent duplication in the event a url is already in the directory.
