Hello,

I think you're doing a great job with DMOZ and I know that the work is voluntary (no one gets paid). Still I feel a bit fed up with submitting and submitting my Non Profit website to DMOZ without actually getting any news from you.

It was in 2005 that I first submitted my website to the following category: Computers: Multimedia: Demoscene: Music

My website is: <url removed> and it fits 100% to that category.

Is there a chance you could either help me include it to DMOZ or give me an explanation for a possible rejection?

Btw I am a computer music enthusiast and I would be glad to become an editor for that category but then again my applications did not lead to any answer.

Sadly...

yours,

That would be what we call a "status check", and we don't do them here anymore.

What makes you think your site was actually rejected? If you can be objective you can judge for yourself whether your site is listable by reading our Site Selection Criteria. If it's listable, and you haven't seen it listed yet, then the most likely explanation is that no-one's got around to reviewing it yet. You see, there are only a finite number of editors, and we got lots of site suggestions from the public. Of course it is possible that listable sites are accidently deleted (we're all human after all) but if you've suggested it four times, then the possibility of four such accidents occuring to the same site is vanishingly small.

...but then again my applications did not lead to any answer.
All editor rejected editor applicants should recieve an email with a least a set of common reasons for rejection, and possibly sime individual comments. All accepted applicants will get details of how to log in and start editing. However, before an application is visible to the evaluating meta editors, the applicant must respond to an automated email (sent almost immediately) to confirm their address. If you didn't get that far, then the application would never have made it into the system. Sometimes over-aggressive spam filters block / filter these messages, so if you try again, be sure to check your spam folder for these messages.

Thanks for clearing some of the points.

Well, after more than two years of waiting I thought my website submission had been rejected. I understand you are lacking editors (as I said I applied to that position), still would there be anyone kind enough to finally validate AMP into Dmoz?

Btw, how long is the "status check" supposed to last?

I did not receive any mail after I applied (twice) to the editor position. I had written a fairly long text about my experience, motivation, etc. Is there any chance I could get an answer (Yes or No) without having to fill in the document for the third time?

Not sure I understand the question. We used to give people a status of where their site was in the process - this we called a status check. We no longer do that here. You can read more about it here

Did you receive the automated response that tells you to reply so that the system can verify your email address? If you didn't receive that, or did and didn't reply, then the application didn't make it into the system. If you are still interested you should apply again, once the application functionality is back up and working.

Okay thanx for clearing things up. So there is no chance I could get to know how long it will still take before my application is taken into consideration?

I believe I did as I followed the described procedure. But then again, that was more than a year ago.

Feeling a bit lost... :/

If you're talking about your editor application, we can never tell you how long it will take to be reviewed.
