500 Internal Server Error

Hello,
I've been trying (for a long time) to apply to be an ODP editor, and I have submitted my applications numerous times, but all I get, after hitting the sumbit, is 500 Internal Server Error /images/icons/frown.gif http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/apply2.cgi

Can somebody tell me what am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

I suspect you may be trying to submit from behind your own firewall.
If you have a firewall try turning it off while you are actually submitting, then turn back on.

Hello,
Thank you for trying to help, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the firewall. Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I was having problems with this board.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have had this too. I have been trying for weeks to apply and all I get is Internal Server Error when I hit submit and it tries to load cgi2. However I am running McAfee Guardian so perhaps there is a firewall in that???? Will try closing it.

Solved it mate. No it was not McAfee Guardian. It was my ISP NTLWorld in the UK which I use because I am not charged for my internet calls...as soon as I hit submit using my other ISP it worked fine......NTL / your ISP must be using firewalls or something

That's strange - NTLWorld is my ISP (though I have broadband) and I rarely [if ever] have any connection problems, especially with the ODP. Usually, if I can't connect to it, no-one can.

Whereabouts are you connecting from? Mine goes onto the backbone at Leeds (though I'm based in York).

I am in Northern Ireland. I connect via a BT phoneline using the NTL smartbox ...not NTL cable tv/phone line.
It is definitely NTL as my other ISP works fine. All is well until you fill in the application form and press submit...only then do you get the error

I have noticed that when I have uploaded my website the old version still appears when accessing the internet via NTLworld but not with my alternative ISP - even if you hit the refresh button / delete the browsers cache. NTL must be running their own cache?????
