A couple questions requarding editor applications

Hi, I applied as an editor for a listing
http://dmoz.org/Sports/Motorsports/Auto_Racing/Drag_Racing/Bracket_Racing/ My application was not approved, since I didn't have the three additional site fields filled in. After reading the reply to my application, I am now wondering a couple things.

The first is, as an editor, is part of the "job" or experience, to actually go out and find new sites to include in the directory? I used to be a moderator of a large (260 sites) web ring on bracket racing, and keeping the ring alive was a fairly large job in itself, not to add in finding new sites.

But also, concerning the three additional sites, from the application, is this what we are to do? To go and find three appropriate sites to include in the directory?

Thanks much for any information

Yes! :) That's the most important part of the job. Other aspects include maintaining current listings, helping with overall quality, and improving the editor community. But the fundamental task is to add high quality websites to the directory, with guidelines compliant titles and descriptions.

Thanks Lissa, so it makes sense, then, that part of the application would include finding three new appropriate sites for the directory. I guess I have a task tonight after work then :)

I did re-apply for this section again. Went out and found what I think are three very good, appropriate sites. Although, this time, I didn't receive anything back through email. No confirmation, no denial or anything.

I'm not seeing a new application in the queue. Did you get an e-mail asking for confirmation of your e-mail address?

Hmm, for whatever reason, my reply hasn't showed here yet. Anyway, I did, just this evening, receive the confirmation email. I replied to confirm my email address and a few minutes later received an email with this message

Your Open Directory editor application could not be confirmed.
The error received was:

Bad authentication ticket

Should I reply to the confirmation email again, or does the message mean something else?

Reply again and edit the subject down to just include the confirmation number. If that number gets screwed up or truncated you get the bad authentication error. It could be the bug we saw before, but give that a try first.

Thanks, that worked. I just received the application received email.

Yes, it did. Thanks Donald. It was approved, so now it is time to get to work and do some reading.

I received an email saying, "Open Directory editor application received". However, at the same time I got a message saying, "Can't find your authentication ticket".

Do I need to do anything? Did it go through as the first email states? I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you. ~Nils

We would need to know the category that you applied for and the editorname that you used.

No problem, your application has been received in due order and is awaiting review by a meta editor.
