A few questions

Hi,

I submitted my site a few months ago and it hasn't been listed. The problem is it was so long ago that I can't find the email that tells me where I submitted it and I'm scared that I may have submitted it in the wrong category. If I submitted in the category I think then it hasn't been updated since December of 08 so it probably hasn't been seen yet.

I have been tempted to resubmit because I really am not sure if I submitted it under that category, but I would rather not submit it then risk not getting listed.

So my question is if I just let it go and not resubmit it does DMOZ find you eventually? Like lets say I accidentally submitted it under the wrong category in the future could an editor find it and put it in the right category if he thinks the site is worthy and follows the guidelines?(Other then the submit into the right category portion)

I would be ok with just leaving it alone and walking away and hoping one day it gets submitted, but I wanted to see if that's how it works. If not is there a certain time frame when the submission gets dropped off regardless of what category it's in? That way I know its safe to resubmit it.

One extra listing suggestion won't get you branded as a spammer. You'd have to try harder than that :)

Listing suggestions don't evaporate with time (apart from the great crash of 2006) so there's generally little point in re-suggesting a listable site - and no point at all in suggesting an unlistable one.

DMOZ does not send any emails after a website is suggested.

But if I happen to suggest it in the wrong category. Is there a point in re-listing it? Should I even try or is it possible that it can be picked up later somehow without me doing anything more?

It is extremely common for sites to be suggested to the wrong category. Moving them to a more appropriate one for review is one of the things volunteers do. :)

Thank you very much. I'll go ahead and leave it as is and if I didn't miss any of the guidelines which I think I didn't I should be included some time in the future.

Thanks again everyone.
