I have had my website for 6 years now and have recently changed the name but have kept the same URL. The site is about an actor and he has made my site his official fan site. I would like to have the new site name show up in a search but don't know how to go about requesting that? Can anyone help me? Thanks!

If your website is listed in ODP, (You can check for this in future by using our search for domain.tld without any http or www prefixes (eg google.com)) please visit the category where it's listed, click on the update listing and follow your nose to ask for the title to be changed.

Thanks so much, Jim. I don't have a paid domain name. My site is hosted for free. So do you suggest that I still go to search engines in general to see about the name change? I'm sorry to be such a pest, but I just have no idea how to go about getting the name changed?

Websites have domain names (such as fred.freewebsitehost.co) and titles (defined within the webpage itself).
It really isn't clear to me which you are referring to and what this has to do with us. We aren't a general purpose advice bureau.

Search engines should pick up the title change automatically over the weeks following the change as they visit your site.
The ODP needs you to suggest a change as jimnoble explained.
However if the change is just to the subtitle (eg "XXXXX - XXXXX The Film Star Fan Site" => "XXXXX - XXXXX The Official Film Star Fan Site"), it may be that if the description reads "Fan site..." then that needs changing to "Official fan site..." .
