A small correction.
Enough Unique Content = DMOZ listing
Acurate title + Acurate description can result in a faster review of the suggestion (atleast it will be the case if I review the site).

Accurate spelling can also help a little too.

As a matter of fact, I'm one of the very few that still hang on to the DMOZ project....

As many of the seo forums are usually filled with people complaining about the entire process, it's mostly those who have very little to offer the directory by itself and don't understand why there sites don't get listed...

I've actaully praised resource zone specifically in the past for addressing some issues for me here and there over the years.... I've had my share of missed spots just like everyone else, but all-in-all always a positive experience with DMOZ as a whole....

Fantasy scenario -- you are one of the editors for the category:

One day you decide to take a look at the pool of suggested sites and maybe review a couple of them. You have ten minutes between meetings, so literally only a couple of them.

There are five sites in the pool, and their descriptions are

* Buy Potatoe products here. Best Brands. Always cheapest.
* Tips for growing potatoes at home
* Cheap hotels!! All major cards accepted.
* Potato blight information and treatment
* potatoe PIE. HOME Deliveries. Buy NOW

Which two would you look at in this editing session, and why? Remember, the object of the exercise is to add something relevant and of quality to the directory.

But that's only because my dad grew potatoes in the back garden when I was a kid. Would be curious to know if he mentions cutting a seed potato with two eyes in half, so that you can have two plants.

No prize, other than the personal satisfaction of knowing you have some insight into what it's like for an editor to delve into the suggested sites pool.

It's been said often, usually to little comprehension, that the suggested sites pools are just about the worst places for editors to visit when seeking new sites to add.

Simply because they are of such low, low quality. At least for most "commercial" and/or "competitative" categories.

But to get a site listed it does need to be first noticed by an editor, and the suggest-a-site link is just about the only method most people think of when attempting to draw an editor's attention to their site.

Sadly then, most of the webmasters sabotage their own effort by describing their site in their suggestion in ways that make it sound like it has no hope of a listing -- those three you'd look at last (if at all) may well be eligible, but you'd never guess that from the self-descriptions.

So what Clasione has done is made the best possible use of the suggest-a-site link, and supplied accurate details. Their site most likely stood out amongst all the other suggestions which were effectively camouflaged in marketing-paint.

Of course, Clasione's site (as it was eligible) would eventually have been listed. They've simply done all they could to shorten the eventuality. Many don't. Then wonder why.

I have applied to be an editor before and humor myself that I will again soon. I'm kind of "old-school" in my beliefs sometimes, in that, one person can make a difference.

ODP has over 10K ones making a difference; although it appears aggravating, it must also be a sense of pride and accomplishment.

When I was in the military and then in the corporate sector, I always told people that "apathy is infectous" as it seems to spread like a bad cold. Of course, a fun and positive attitude and run rampant just as fast - good for you; thanks!
