"add URL" is available but not "update URL"

Hello,

I have submitted a client’s site to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Regions/Mid-Atlantic/

I hope I have chosen the correct category. The reason is that my client sells to many of the states listed in the "mid-Atlantic"

My question to you is, now that I have submitted to this category I cannot change my information, which I did incorrectly. There is an "add URL" but not a "update URL"

What do I do to change the incorrect information I submitted?
Did I submit to the wrong directory??

The website in question is www.sunbedservice.com

Thank you,
Sandy

You can only use 'update URL' if a site is listed, not for submissions awaiting review.

The fact that there's no site listed on the level you'd like to submit to is often a good indicator that you should choose an appropriate (regional or topical) subcategory. I suggest you do so and resubmit there with the correct information.

Actually, I think you've got that reversed -- there's an "update URL" link but not an "add URL" since, as senox said, submissions aren't permitted at that level. If you saw it the other way around, there's something funky going on. Still, it appears you were able to submit to that level but your site was moved to Baltimore Business & Economy since that's where the company is located. It's currently waiting there for review.

If you want to change your submission, simply resubmit to the category noted above (but bear in mind that editors can and usually do change the submitted descriptions to meet the guidelines).

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it.
Should I still resubmit since "motsa" posted a reply stating that the website was placed in Baltimore and is still awaiting review?

Only resubmit if you feel you want to change something about your original submission (e.g. change the title or description you submitted). Otherwise, just sit back and wait.

Thank you for your reply.
But honest - When I go to the address I listed above in my original post there in no "update URL" I don't have it reversed. I guess something funky is going on, hmm that's wierd
You stated that my clients site was added to the directory in Baltimore, Md. since that's where the company's address is. Wouldn't it be best if it was where I put it since this site sells to many of the states listed under "Mid Atlantic"? Not just Maryland. You are the expert, you tell me. Will the search engines still pick it up for the other states?

Again thank you,
Sandy

Sorry Motsa, he got this right. I suppose there's no 'update URL' because there are no listed sites on that level, but submissions are permitted there, although very unlikely to be accepted.

(BTW, I didn't say it wasn't permitted, I said the fact that there are no sites on a level is often a good indicator that you should choose an appropriate subcategory).

I didn't check whether the submission was still awaiting review in that category, so I didn't notice it was already moved elsewhere. My suggestion to submit to a subcategory is therefore obsolete, please proceed as suggested by Motsa.

<added> I'm lagging a little bit behind here, you guys made three posts while I was writing this one. Most probably it's time for me to have some sleep </added>

How do I or can I check whether a submission is still awaiting review.

If you're still talking about this site, you need to reread the first part of my first post in this thread, where I already told you that it was waiting for review in the Baltimore category. No, you can't get it listed at the Maryland level -- that's why it was moved to the Baltimore category. We don't list businesses in Regional by the area they serve but by the place they are physically located.

If you're talking about another site, post the query in the Site Submissions Status forum (read the forum guidelines thread first).

[RE: the "add URL" link -- I need new glasses...or a new brain. I can't tell you how many times I looked at "add URL" and read it as "update URL". I would presume, as senox did, that the reason there is no "update URL" link is because there are no sites there (how can you update a link where there are none?)]
