Hi, I have added a green industry directory site 5 years ago and I still haven't heard anything from anybody. I understand that this is all volunteer based but 5 years is a long time. Also at the time of submission I made sure the site fits your guidelines. It is a great resource and enjoys over 1500 visitors daily and by some it's considered an authority website. Yet, for some reason it is not included in DMOZ. SInce my first submission I have submitted the site 2 more times - but who could blame me. I'm beginning to think that the editors are perhaps not completely neutral, because I find it difficult to comprehend why the site is excluded from your directory.

I'm beginning to think that the editors are perhaps not completely neutral,
Some 200 of us can edit in any category that interests us - and we do. It seems extremely unlikely that we're all biased against your site (see below for the reasons why).

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a several years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

We're resource limited here and one of our major problems is anxious website owners suggesting their sites to multiple categories (5 in your case - one of them twice) - thus multiplying the amount of work that our hard pressed and much maligned editors are presented with. Listing suggestions don't evaporate; they merely await processing. I find it hard to believe that you think there is a corrupt editor who sought out every instance of your website's listing suggestions and removed them all.

Please be patient and refrain from adding to our workload by suggesting your website yet again.

<added> I've noted that the domain is for sale at Sedo. </added>

I took submitted a site two years ago and waiting for review. Jim, we absolutely appreciate the effort. I have even applied to become an editor of other categories to help keep reviews to manageable times. Again, appreciate the effort and hoping for a review soon.

Cheers,
Jason

I am waiting to get my site added to the appropriate category. I add it to the queue every 3 months because I figured it was getting overlooked. Is this too often?
Also, I have noticed that one site on the page I like links to a website that has nothing to do with what the link purports it to be. Is there a way to notify the editor of that?

Thanks for your kind attention and time.

Since our T&C say suggest just once, you could be your own worst enemy.

Please click on the update URL link at the top of the category page and follow your nose.

Hi, just have the same problem, I sent my site 3 years ago and until now is not published yet; also had the same problem of ecofirms, because I submitted 2 times more, because when you begin, you think that maybe the submission went wrong or something because dmoz takes really long time to publish your site and could be from months to years. Well anyway hope one of the editors could publish my site soon.

Greetings,

I think your missing the point of DMOZ. I'm not an editor (yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed) but I think the problem is there are hundreds of thousands of people submitting websites in the hope of getting some SEO boost. That's not what this directory is about and I believe that people who submit sites with that intention are probably not the kind of sites that are appropriate for a directory that is edited by real people and not bots. Yahoo is an example of a directory that is the exact opposit of DMOZ. They will list just about any site in their directory for the $300.00

I pressed the link at the top of the category page to update the URL. It asked for the URL to be input in order to update it. However, it doesn't recognize the URL that is on the page. It says it is not found. But it is on the page, as I clicked on it about 2-3 times to make sure I was inputing the right information.

Mmm... That could be a bug, could you PM me the URL you are trying to update?
