I have read that generally websites in OD get listed in three weeks. Now, I suggested my website exactly 3 weeks ago, but no sign of it in the directory yet.
The site in question is:<URL removed> and the category is
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Folklore/Literature/Rhymes/Nursery/

As my website is in many ways much better than the ones already in the directory, I don't believe it has been rejected. But, it appears that the category I submitted it, is without an editor.
To get my site listed, should I consider becoming an editor myself in this category? Or is it just taking a little more time?

They made that up.

No category is without an editor. Some 200 of us can work in any category that we choose - and we do.

No. We don't want self serving editors.

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

Thank you for your answer. I'll wait a couple of more weeks, then I'll ask a friend to pick up the category :)

BTW, if you fear that by letting the links remain in the posts you would attract spam, why not just unlink them? Like this: resource-zone.com It's not a link any more, has no Google link value, but an interested user still has the ability to visit the site by making a copy-paste action.

Mainly because these forums aren't for discussing individual sites. We also remove domain names like resource-zone.com and contact details.

Noted

Be aware that we don't want proxy self serving editors either.

Oh, don't get mad. What we both want, is that people get the best information available, don't we? At the moment this category is simply quite incomplete--which is not surprising, given that it has no editor. It wouldn't be that bad if I found an active person to do the work, would it?

Most editors are annoyed when people try to game the system as you are proposing to do. Editor motivation is key. We don't want people to become editors to list their own websites and then fade away into the sunset.

I could have listed a dozen websites in the time it's taken to try to explain things to you but it appears to have been a waste of time. For me, this conversation is at an end.

What motivates you to do the work you are doing? I'm really curious. I've heard that some editors are secretly motivated by money--it costs 250-300 dollars to have the site listed. With you, I'm quite sure it's not the case, you look too honest for that.
