Hi All,

I have a site which is based around a forum for sales people, it also has tips and articles etc on there, but the main focus is the forum itself.

I have 2 questions:

1/ Should I submit the landing page or the actual page of the forum, (the landing page is really where I want people to enter the site)

2/ if I submit to Business:Marketing and Advertising:Salesmanship which i'm 99.9% confident is the correct category, how long is it likely to take to be listed?

It's a good quality site (you can see it here http://www.asalesforum.com ) so am keen to get it listed and start getting more traffic.

Thanks
Steve

Just suggest the root URL to what you think is the most appropriate category. If the reviewing editor disagrees, s/he'll move it.

This forum's FAQ should answer your timescale question.

We wouldn't assume it'll be listed at all, and it would be best for you to assume it won't. (Experience says anything whose primary description from its creator is "a quality site" is 99+% likely to be unlistable.)

The ODP operating process is that the forum creator is responsible for building traffic, and the sites that are successful will be listed -- so you should get your traffic BEFORE the ODP review!

As for "how long till the review and possible rejection?" that's the question nobody can ever answer. Nobody tracks what the volunteers will do but haven't done yet (if possible -- concerning which I have philosophic doubts.) The good news is, it may take a long time, which means you have more time to show that the site is established and stable and that it supports a significant community.

Thanks for that, although I have put a lot of work into the site, have been very selective with articles etc.
