additional category

I would like to add my website http://www.horses-sales.com to an additional category, is this allowed? If so how should I go about requesting an additional category.

I requested an additional category once before but rather than having it added to an additional category it was deleted from the old category which was in fact the best listing for my website. The site specialises in sport horse sales and includes pedigree information as we have the principle philosphy that in order to produce quality sport horses good breeding is essential.

Can you please advise.

Many thanks

Currently listed in Topical at Business/Industries/Agriculture_and_Forestry/Livestock/Horses_and_Ponies/Sales_and_Marketing , I'd suggest the only other listing possible would be in Regional at the locality - but since you don't provide an address on your site I guess that's not what you're after. You can ask for it to be moved to another category, but sites are not normally listed more than once in topical.

Ciao

Thanks Gimmster The address is located at the bottom of every page of the site. Glenrothes UK. Although the site covers sport horse sales internationally.
There is a category predominantly sited for sport horses, can I try adding it there?

I would totally leave your Topical listing alone, dont try to move it, don't try to mess with it. You are properly listed there and the only thing you could do is probably get the site moved which could cause it to get de-listed during that time (there is a chance) and you don't want that.

I would submit the site to the proper regional category and you can get an additional listing if the address is on the site.

After you get both a topical and a regional listing, if you feel a subsection of your site provides significant information for maybe recreation or whatever you can try to submit a deeplink but I would not do it unless you had a significant amount of information about the subject.

Good Luck and hope this helps -

Ok My site has 9 major regional links
Scotland
UK
USA
Canada
Australia and New Zealand
Germany
Holland
Europe
International

Would it be acceptable for me to submit each deep link to it's regional category? Perhaps leaving out Germany and Holland submitting to Horses for sale Europe?

TIA I think ye all brave for doing this without payment :/images/dmoz/purplegrin.gif

Many very comprehensive sites have multiple deeplinks listed - it is the exception rather than the rule but it does happen. It really all depends on the content - in ODP content is king and sites with lots of unique and useful content as judged by an editor tend to be better represented.

Yes indeed we do have a number of entries in Dmoz as we have a number of individual clients that host on the Scothorse network, rather than having their own individual websites. Running costs are lowered this way. Many of these sites do actually have a "public advertising address" eg. wwww.peak-photography.co.uk or www.showjumping-scotland.co.uk but these domain names simply direct to the web site. I have not submitted these URLS because that is against Dmoz policy, instead I submit the individual URL on which our clients sites are hosted, this does follow Dmoz's policy.

The Scothorse network is made of three different sites with three quite different addresses and distinctly different content. With over a dozen clients and over 3000 pages of topic specific content I feel we have submitted in accordance to Dmoz's rules.

If they have been accepted then I would not suspect that there has been any foul play. I myself am an editor of another directory which follows the same guidleines as dmoz with regards to deep url submissions.

Any more questions JG
